One of the difficult tasks in palm oil processing is the maceration of the boiled fruits. Some traditional practices use the feet to crush the fruits in pits or canoes and some use the motar and pestle. All of these practices are heavily drudgery ridden and also reduces the palm oil yield by a significant number. 20% of the weight of the loose fruits will be palm oil when traditional technologies are employed as against 33% that would have yielded when mechanized digesters of the FINIC type are used. 13% is a difference too big to be ignored. For every 100kg of palm fruits processed by such traditional ways, 13kg of oil will be lost to the palm fibre. That translates further to hundreds of thousands, if not millions of tons of palm oil, are lost by this way accross the world.
The search for innovative ways to curtail such waste, and let the farmer and the Processor be turned into a dignified labouring person, must be in our priority list. This is why FINIC has designed 5 series of palm fruits digesters serially called Generation 1, 2,3,4, and 5. Generation 3 and 4 are showcased in this video clip.
G3 and G4 are evenly matched in regard the capacity but yet are different in terms of sturdiness. G3 is less sturdier and its drive train is made of motor cycle chain and sprockets whereas G4 is made of a heavy duty gearbox. On that account, G4 has a longer service life than G3. We have recorded a 14 year life span of the G4 without problems unless essential spares replacement.
