I know its just another expense but you should have a landscaper coming like every 3 weeks. Just to keep the yard clean and to help with those long periods where you don't come and weeds pop up. They can also notice when plants aren't being watered enough, or if they are growing weird from the wind so they can place anchors. It's expensive but it keeps the yard looking so nice after that initial investment. Also, the yellow looks FANTASTIC. It's such a lovely neutral I love how it pops in the sun.
Choosing desert plants avoids maintenance, just as w/the astroturf & rocks. If there's nothing to cut/mow, then they'd basically be paying someone to come 'look' at the yard, not work. If they have a landscaper already, that's diff. Otherwise, it's usually up to the owner to fix, or call someone on a one-time basis. For ex, I once bought several large plants/trees from a nursery that installed them, as they did Shelby's ficus trees. If there was a problem w/them not growing, then I'd call them. Otherwise, my landscaper would point it out, or we would notice, & call the nursery.
@@Trish.... I have mostly desert plants in my yard and my landscapers come once a week. They do actually just sit there and blow around leaves but they also kill new moss from popping up, they control the sprinklers so everything is watered, they clean all of the fallen seeds and fruit. They also retouch our rocks once a year. When the Santa Ana winds blow in they make sure all new trees have proper fitting anchors. They will even. clean the cushions and tables I have out in my yard. They do a lot even if they don't mow grass. They still pull weeds from my turf! Their yard is smaller than mine which is why I suggest every 3 weeks instead of every week. I can't remember how much they have spent on the outside of their home (front and backyards) but our renovation was close to $210k and it would be a shame for an investment like that to overgrow and be unkempt.
You seem so different, compared to a month ago. You seem a bit more easy going, and relaxed. Even when your phone was stolen, you took it in stride, treating it as a learning experience.
The yellow is so great! I agree with other peoples’ mural suggestions, mainly so it makes it more of a “destination” to get IG pics. If I had to choose between two identical properties but one had a mural, I’m picking mural hands down.
Omg, I was so sad when this ended. I love the yellow! It's so bright and happy as a resort should be. I clicked on the minute I saw this, and so happy to see an update with the both of you. Now we need Dad Church🌼
It's amazing to see that Shelby is back with the vlogs! I thought she would take a break, after she mentioned about her burnout. Hope you're doing great Shelby 😊
So cool that you are in a position where you can afford to turn down or prematurely end a project because it does not work out despite the good money, and that you also have a long term vision on things.
Love the makeover Shelby! That YELLOW throws off some serious vibes. Since day one, you and Monica turned Grandma’s backyard into a tropical resort! Sorry to hear about your phone and palm tree.
8:00 so so sorry to hear it got stolen, you handled it really well, but that is really invasive and stressful to sort out. Hope it wasnt too much of a pain to cancel and divert and disable - love the upbeat video thanks
We’re moving to LA next summer partly thanks to your videos! But when we want a quick weekend getaway we will definitely be checking out your AirBNB as well! Keep up the great work.
I believe either Shelby or Monica stated that they used something heavier, ie the crushed granite, bc they used it in other areas. I'm sure they used what other owners do, & typically, in the desert, sand doesn't blow around unless it's kicked around, or a little tornado forms, which isn't that common.
Yellow attracts yellow jackets , not sure if they are a problem near you but thought I should share just in case.. and blue or black attracts mosquitoes and yellow flies FYI (things I learned in my environmental health class)
Super bummer about someone stealing your phone! But thanks for the update on the house, and I love the palm springs backyard renovations that you did, it definitely looks better with the touch of color! Hope you can get it listed on Airbnb soon
I’ve been back working out in a gym for the past 3 months and I’m being asked to wear a mask, honestly it isn’t that bad and you get used to it, you can wear face masks that are a bit more thin on the heaviest days so you can breathe better 🙌🏼 Don’t let that gym membership go to waste, sis!
@@pirhan EXACTLY!! wearing a mask while working out is actually a health risk for some esp those with asthma or lung issues. My doctor told me to get vaxxed so that I dont have to wear one and now they're changing the rules again...like why did I get a non FDA approved vax for literally no reason 😶
I had not heard of Resort Pass before your Vlog. I was so excited to hear about it that I looked into passes where I live. I am in a very popular vacation spot so the hotels are amazing. They do has Resort Passes and I think I will take them up on it. Thank you for the heads up!!
Love your videos - I want to wave when I see you at the Ace hardware store which is just across the street from my house. If you ever need someone to check on your house give me a shout and I would be glad to help since I live in Palm Springs. I was a previous property manager so I know what to do. Priority One Air Conditioning and Heating is a great company to have work on your A/C. Ask for Justin to come do your service. I have a sheltie too so if we ever meet our dogs would have a blast together.
Could you do a video on Priority Pass for airport lounges? I’m trying to decide if it’s worth it, and you could have a reason to travel. Win/win? The yellow looks great in the backyard.
@@jeannine1991 no but the ones I’ve seen with priority pass also pay for travel insurance and in my experience they end up paying for themselves in that way. Also from all the points you earn booking a holiday. Maybe it’s not that worth it with domestic travel though. Also not sure if lounges are at full capacity currently ?
I just ate lunch but that scrambled egg on toast made me so hungry 🤤 I'm also blown away by how big the ficus have gotten!! The backyard is looking amazing
I love love love this! I have a Palm Springs home & Tesla on my vision board! You are such an inspiration! Could you share more about the airBNB business? How to start? Pros and cons? Love love your channel, Shelby!!!
omg would you mind sharing what dance/exercise class that was? i understand if not for privacy reasons, but it looks so fun and like exactly the kind of class i've been looking for!!
I hate yellow, but even I can't deny those new umbrellas look bomb AF!!! And like others have said, I think a mural from a local artist would be such a vibe! Make your Airbnb a 'unique' stay to stand out from the other competition, and tie that yellow back to the rest of the house
Excellent poolside upgrade! Too bad about your phone. I would recommend the Bahia Resort in Mission Bay as the perfect destination spot in San Diego. It exceeds expectations on all fronts.
Because, I live in Vegas and the temp is always around 100 or over. I stay out of the gym during the summer months and pick it back up around september. I always wonder what the pool water temperature is during the hot months there in palm springs..
Lol, just as you were showing us the hotel room you felt you paid too much for, RU-vid inserted an ad for hotwire with someone saying "don't book a cheap hotel, book an expensive hotel for cheap."
Since you're a RU-vidr, experiencing some burnout, and looking for video ideas, have you thought about some kind of job shadow series? You could take suggestions for jobs from the community or look at jobs you're specifically interested in, or a combination of both. It's not necessarily about thinking of switching careers, but it could really get some creative juices flowing.
