Theory it means more than you know that you still cover star wars material your bored with or dislike post ros but still do because we don't have access to it and still put so much passion in the lore exploration.
@@chain_of_nothing nah he jumped ship for a while, it’s really the fact that people on the streams kept asking that he got the motivation. Sequel stuff gets way less views
I like that he covers it because it shows how things could have gone in a world where the sequels were better. If Rey was the granddaughter of the emperor from day one, it would have made Kylo a better foil to her as basically two kids with these family legacies they didn't want to inherent and finding their own path. Rey could have been raised by the Sith cult or something, it would have been cool to see a dark side user redeem themselves and become a legitimate hero and not die five minutes before the movie ends.
@@newhybrid101 ahh I see, I don’t think it’d matter to boba, he doesn’t really care about the clone situation unless he’s called out like he was in the mandolorian
Me too, it’s bullcrap. Anakin returned to the light and destroyed the Dark Side, he was the Chosen One in the end. I mean he destroyed the Sith, not the Dark Side.
@@RoaryUK A video game, The Force Unleashed part 2 had Vader making clones of his secret apprentice who died in the last game, they made thousands but they all went nuts. Even the decent single one failed him because he had memories of becoming a Jedi and fighting the emperor in the previous game. Vader was disappointed at another failure and was about to kill the clone but he managed to escape. It was actually a pretty cool story. They should have made a movie, at least like the first game where Vader had a secret apprentice to help overthrow the emperor and take over.
I think Snoke was a promising villain. If it had to be sidious then it could be sidious in snokes body and he could slowly regenerate. Or sidious was in his mind and it’s a battle of wills as snoke battles sidious inside him. That would have been interesting
See now Snoke had potential before they did that shit show. old, powerful, mysterious, aware, someone who finally was not a Sith, and someone who actually a cool freaking theme. But they just made him Palpatine's puppet
Ive just realized after all these years... that you are my Star Wars Professor lmao. These videos are like the college lectures that you actually enjoy going to. You’re like our star wars teacher, except the teacher we all love
Theory can you cover Cade Skywalker from Star Wars Legacy and maybe some other stuff from those comics? Cade Skywalker was a badass! Seeing Luke's force ghost trying to talk some sense into him every other time was awesome as well lol!
It baffles me that the sequels didn't steal this aspect, since they had problem stealing everything else from the EU, with him trolling Kylo after he died. Which was what Luke implied when he talked to him. What a mess.
Sidious probably had a few kids in Legends. One character, Triclops, was apparently Sheev’s son with Sly Moore. He might have had a few kids with members of his harem, too. I’ll give you a minute to process how creepy it is that he actually had one.
With one small change, the entire sequel trilogy could've been a whole lot better: If Palpatine's clone/son was the villain, not Palpatine himself. We'd have been able to see Palpatine in his prime while also technically being an entirely new character, instead of making Anakin's sacrifice in vain and not fulfilling a prophecy as George Lucas had planned from the beginning. We would've seen Rey struggling with the idea that her father was behind the First Order all along, creating another similarity with the original trilogy, which was unfortunately the theme for the sequels. We would've seen a younger Palpatine kicking ass instead of him being a corpsy meat puppet strapped to a machine.
Bingo. Also raises the point that all along Palpatine did NOT lie to Anakin and couldn’t, just chose not to save Padme. He actually had both the technique learned from Plageus and the technology from the clone wars to save and create anybody, perhaps even Anakin himself.

While I love Ian and the character I think it’s time to let it rest in this form. Palpatine should have died in Return of the Jedi. However I believe there’s still some ways we can see more of the character, Perhaps a young Palpatine training under Plagueis. We have yet to have anything purely Sith focused explored in tv series or a movie that is officially canon. I believe there’s still so much more we can get on the character of Palpatine and Sith characters in general. Hopefully this book is a step in the right direction.
im happy that you like bits of this book. even though some of it (the dyad section) contradicts one of the coolest things in star wars, i personally think secrets of the sith is well made
At the end of the day the only thing they can do is make lemonade out of Lemons, Try to explain the plot holes enough to "fix it in post" The best explanation is sort of like with Marvel's Shang Chi where his father allowed him to think he was "free" bu only because he knew he could reel him back in whenever he wanted.
As i have mentioned before instead of them bringing him back through a clone. Do the Valkorion/Baron Harkonnen instead. Have Palpatine exist as a ghost in Ray´s mind, and slowly manipulate her through helpful advice into letting him take more and more control of her body. If we go with something akin to what happened in Children of Dune, it could be that Ray´s force powers are so strong that she is slowly loosing control, she is suffering from visions, feeling disturbances in force and everything. Here comes Grandfather he is able to still the force around her, give Ray some peace and offer her helpful advice in how to use the force. And slowly he starts to make Ray more or more reliable on him and his advice and she gives up more and more of her free will until he takes over completely. Have the trilogy end with maybe force ghost Luke forming a connection with Finn and together they go to confront Ray Palpatine. Resulting in a final epic struggle both on the material plane between Ray and Finn and on the spiritual plane between Palpatine and Luke. The battle ending with Ray maybe being mortally wounded, teetering on the edge of life and death Palpatine´s spirit is weakened enough so that Luke or maybe the entire Skywalker family can show up and rip Palpatine´s spirit out of ray dragging it into the force/ the realm of death. There by killing Palpatines spirit off for good. If they want to definitively shut the door on the OT, they could say that palpatine´s spirit being dissolved in the force created a shockwave that forced any remaining force ghost to become one with the force. There by making it so that any force user after this will not get any help from force ghosts that existed prior to palpatines death.
@@barkley8285 Yes and no... This is a spoiler of sorts. Jessica´s father is the Baron Harkonnen and as such he is both Paul and his sister Alia´s grandfather. Alia is preborn meaning she has all the memories of those who came before her. And those memories are alive of sorts and if you are not careful, they can posses you. After Paul "dies" Alia becomes the regent of his empire and at the same time she is starting to lose control over her other memories. They are all as one shouting at her demanding to be heard. In comes the memory of her grandfather and silence the other voices. Providing comfort to her and slowly starts to take over her body. In the end of Children of Dune Alia confronted with a choice from her nephew Leto 2nd, chooses to commit suicide, by jumping out of the window of the palace.
@@Tores444 Damn Sam, you’re really adamant about this, huh? Okay, i’ll give you some attention. Here goes: you’re completely mistaken. Having clones ready to go fits Palpatines’ megalomania. It’s like a Bond villain’s plan.
"Father you once told me the 4 virtues of being a Palpatine. Power, hate, cunning, and arrogance. I knew at once I had none of these virtues. Even then if was like you didn't want me as your son" Palpatine: "Your failure as a son is my failure as a father"
@@GENGHISKHAN-hk3qs I'm sure you didn't detect the sarcasm in my comment so I'm just going to get passed this. What I'm saying is that Palpatine is life, he's the day and the night, the dreams we make and the actions we take. He's everything and that's why we love him.
I think that statement about letting his "son" live because he had palpatine blood was hinting more of him having kids who could be force sensitive and in turn his theory was proven correct when he discovered rey i dont think he meant it buy using his son for making more clones because he can still use himself.
@@newhybrid101 I personally think they should have made Rey Anakin’s reincarnation instead of Palpatine’s granddaughter. That way they could have written that Palpatine is attempting to subvert the prophecy and the force is retaliating by bringing back the chosen one to stop him. And it has the added benefit of her parents still being nobody. And it would explain why she’s so skilled. And the Rey Skywalker thing would have been less jarring as technically she was a Skywalker. The original if you will, reborn.
I'm going to suggest that it was both prudence, And a kind of sentimentality of Palpatine's part: His 'son' was 'imperfect', because he lacked the connection to the Force, but was otherwise, Still 'Palpatine Blood'. So in that regard, either useful as potential future 'harvesting material', or, simply a case of Palpatine not wanting to outright kill his own (literal) flesh and blood, but willing to let him go his own way and scrape his own existence in the universe, despite being unfit to serve as his new vessel, as he had originally intended. I don't imagine Palpatine being the sentimental type, but, even the worst of us can have good within, so perhaps that allowing his 'son' to live his own life, was Palpatine's 'moment of good' ^_^
If this idea is ever used I would love for young Palp to be a Jedi protagonist who has to struggle against the darkness inside him and ultimately does the right thing. A young Palpatine could be a awesome POV character, all the traits and talents that made him such a smart and powerful Sith lord now seen working in real time for the sake of good.
@@Tores444 Yes and no. I don’t like the idea of Sheev returning unless he’s a ghost, and I don’t like Dark Empire that much in general. But at least Luke and Leia fought him and were actually a good match for him, and the final time Sidious died, it felt real. The ghosts of the Jedi pretty much dragged Sidious’ soul to Hell with the rest of the dead Sith, and there was no way he could ever leave the Netherworld of the Force again.
I'm assuming they never intended for him to be a Palpatine clone, but a real son, when they were making the film. I have no way to back that claim up with facts, but seeing how much pivoting they were doing, it seems they didn't have a plan nor did they care to maintain lore integrity. Hence the "no-similarity" actor. You'd think they would have just used a de-aged Ian McDiarmid if it was really planed out. Maybe they intended for him to be a clone, but I personally don't think so.
I think they need to give other Sith Lords some screen time in whatever capacity. I can't keep doing this Palpatine roller-coaster anymore. Make it stop!
@@warsofthestopmotion6656 No, this is the first time I've said this exact sentence. Talking about sequels not being canon in general is something I have of course expressed when relevant.
I think When Palpatine said the clone “may one day prove useful” he meant that by allowing it to reproduce it could create an appropriate vessel for him, aka Rey
In Mando series or Ahsoka's, Rey's father will be saved. It's around 11 ABY and Rey is born in 15 ABY. They teased Palpatine's clone, and this character is very important for the story ahead
I think it would be a wonderful twist for palpatine to be cloned but instead of following the dark side or even the light side which is my preference out of the three him be more akin to revin and use both sides of the force and balance. We also still have the hand of Luke Skywalker somewhere where they could be used for cloning purposes. There are a lot of endless possibilities that the rejected ideas of Disney can produce into a more productive and climactic adventure for all of us Star wars fans! I've been following your work for the last couple of years and I find you very engaging and watch all if not most all of your videos with locks. I hold you and Josh in the highest regards as my go-to for star wars!
Plot Twist: (Just popped in my head): Palp II (Rey's father) wasn't actually a failed clone who lacked The Force, but instead lacked whatever brain-chemical-imbalance made Palpatine Sr so evil. Palp II had the force, but it was so thoroughly rooted in the light side that Palpatine Sr didn't even sense it. Additionally, he was completely passive in his Force abilities. He couldn't control people, move things, enhance his own physical abilities, etc, but his senses, particularly empathy, were COMPLETELY off the charts.
What is interesting here is that somehow the cloning process is extremely unreliable despite the fact the Kaminoans had perfected it. So either there is an inability to clone anyone with high midichlorians, which is why Palpatine's non-force sensitive clone survived, or the cloning process being used is not the same one developed by the Kamino. It also raises the fact that Sheeve Jr. wasn't a defective clone but was just force-insensitive. Which in turn messes with how Rey could be force sensitive at all unless she inherited it from her mother.
As last night No more Palpatine crap For the love of Tom cruise no, However if they got wise and made a Young Palpaptine movie with him and he's Master Darth Plagieus then yes, Thanks General Theory
I agree man, they shouldn’t have brought him back, he was a legend for the era that he dominated but we needed something different in the sith. Although, you have a damn good point, bring him back the right way since they decided to revive him, though I still kinda feel like it hurts anakin/darth Vader’s plot line super hard
@Star Wars Theory, I have a question pertaining to the "dyad", if this was to be created, how should it be implemented in Star Wars in a way that makes sense? Could it be one of the reasons that Darth Bane created the Rule of Two? It's just a thought since I'm currently working on a fan rewrite of the Sequel Trilogy and I need all the information I can get to make it a better, more immersive plot.
I think you shouldn't tie it to Rule of Two, I think it would make sense as some Jedi prophecy like in Dark Empire we have Luke and Leia prophecy from a holocron. I think people dislike how they go about it with completely changing Rule of Two
@@randalthekidd7006 First off, you don’t have to be so rude about it. Second off, I’m just browsing ideas. They don’t have to be to your specific liking. Especially if I’m the one telling the fan rewrite story.
Yes a new clone Palpatine for the next generation of Rebels; all we need is a giant space laser weapon and I think I have a million dollar idea for a movie!
You should do a what if that talks about if Obi-Wan and Padmé fell in love instead of Anakin or If the younglings survived the attack on the Jedi Temple!
God everytime Palpatine dies they are like whoop once more and Palpatine comes back takes out one or two and then die again and come back again. Meanwhile my brain: pops in anger
Would be a kind of cool spin-off. Rey finds out her father isn’t actually dead, just being held in stasis at some facility. She finds out ol’ palps can be cloned again from his body so she goes to find and save him
Feel like they could do something really cool with Rey’s dad in a game or something. A story about the “son” of the most evil/powerful being in galaxy and finding his way on his own while being powerless himself and how he met Rey’s mom and if she is the one that set him straight or whatever. Would be a cool way to build on this part of canon because imo there’s still so much they can do to fill in between episodes 6-7 that would help somewhat salvage how a lot of people see the sequels
Palpatine was a great character for that part of SW, just like Vader or Yoda. He’s of a specific time within the SW universe, there were Sith that were also badass before and i guess the idea with Snoke and Kylo (they didn’t really have a plan around Palps) was what could they do with the villains in SW post the chosen one balance prophecy. They went with a loop of Palpy in the messy and unplanned trilogy. fine but make him dead now please, he’s my favourite character, but he needs to not be dragged out like an aging pantomine queen, all tatterred and battered and overused. The films and characters were meant to be a time shot of a specific period within a galaxy that had a history without one dominant person and a future also without. That needs to come back, there’s so much material they could use or channel from the legends to create or recreate cool villains without endlessly recycling.
Here is my question. I hear a lot of people that are/were upset that Palps was brought back. Who else can they use? Although I love star wars, I don't know everything about it. All of the movies made, so far, have been about Palpatine and Skywalker. To my knowledge, there is not another Sith out there that could be powerful enough to be a threat. Sure, they could just create one, but it would be impossible to line up with anything in canon thus far.
From what ive heard people actually didnt like those legend stories and at least they brought him back in a much cooler and better way. George Lucas even said that he is "absolutely dead" after return of the jedi, this isn't his story and look at the mess it came to be. And also even if they did do it in legends that not a lot of people liked I don't see why they had to do it in canon without barely any explanation. They expect us to buy books and read and see other things for the sequels to make sense which is just stupid, you should just put it in the movie. I was watching ep 9 with my mom and she was so confused I literally had to explain what happened so she could get it cuz there were that many plotholes and confusing parts. And honestly they really should not have brought him back, I feel like it undermined the events of ROTJ and anakins and well your legacy and accomplishments. IT was just really stupid and there was just no buildup whatso ever, if barely anything. They were CLEARLY not planned and even jj abrams admits this so you cant deny otherwise... And ya I cant tell you how stupid it is to bring him back cuz now he could just keep coming back again and again, for all we know he maybe made some other body elsewhere or something, I mean you never know... To be honest they should've just continued from the last jedi and either make kylo ren the main villain and still bring him back to the good in the end without killing him since luke should tell rey in ep 9 don't kill him but try to turn hum back. OR they should've just brought back snoke since he is so powerful that he shouldn't transported his essence to another body like Palpatine did, it would've added to the mystique of his character too. That he was chopped in half but somehow came back would've really made him seem powerful too. And then in the 9th film you can explain more about snokes backstory and what not and still have like a finale order thing but just with snoke. That would've been way better instead of bringing back an old villain that died 40 years ago and exploded twice! Atleast snoke was just cut in half and maul was too and look he survived why not snoke clearly snoke was stronger. In the 7th film you barely seen snoke in a hologram, then in the next film you see where he resides and you finally can see his body well. Then in the 9th film they should've then revealed what snoke really was or wanted as like a gradual reveal. That would've been so much more interesting in my opinion... But, enough of my ramble, you get the point, they should've brought back snoke or made kylo the main villain instead of bringing palps back... so because of that I don't like the sequels, but I respect what yall think...
It was fucking dumb in legends too. It was literally what sequel fans pointed to as why the Eu isn’t good despite being a single story that doesn’t ruin other ones like the sequels. This argument is so bad
Good to see you getting on this bandwagon great book. Also you wanna read the high republic novels and dooku jedi lost and find those links mate they are there. I await a video
I don’t know what Palpatine expected with his Clone. Considering his knowledge of Cloning that he got from Plagueis he should have known force sensitivity isn’t transferable and a force sensitive clone is pure chance
Wait....so if Rey's father was an exact clone of Palpatine....then wouldnt the actor who plays Rey's father (Billy Howle) be the one to be casted to play a young Palpatine in live action. The actor looks NOTHING like Sheev Palpatine/Ian McDiarmid in my opinion.... He looks like more like Sean Aston from Lord of the Rings.
@@cptsteele91 lmao they should have.....now how cheap would it look for them to recast him...like duh...he is a clone so thats your face when you were young.
@@danielschoch4881 I would have casted the person who most looks like sheev and casted him for a future Palpatine movie or series...but they didn't think that far ahead.
I think Disney messed up when Palps was absorbing the life Force of Rey and Ben, he should’ve became younger to look as the appearance of his son. Thus Rey would be battling against her grandfather who is a spitting image of her father. Because of that, she may have a second of hesitation in defeating him. And then when He had the Force Lightning thrown back at him, he becomes warped back into the decrepit body we all know and love.
