They were always trying to spin-offs black sitcoms by taking the fun characters and removing them from the situation that made them enjoyable. The Parkers was one of the only ones that actually worked.
@@TheLovesnowangel yeah, it was a lot easier to spin-off an established product with an audience other than making a completely new IP, I don’t blame those network execs
No. Tyrese was not famous at this point, he was still just the dude singing on the bus from the Coca Cola commercials. Those commercials were popular, so I remember it being a big deal that the dude from the commercials was on Martin.
@@johndavis9321 He wasn’t random, he was in a bunch of sitcoms back then, the only one I can think of right now is “Down The Shore”. He was definitely more known than tyrese.
@@johnholmeswebb8162 but was he in anything of note I have seen quite a few black sitcoms applause was almost always reserved for special guest who had some level of noterity their were plenty of random who would appear in an episode that had done work elsewhere but they never got applause like this
I feel like she had lead actress potential. just needed a DRASTICALLY better show concept and stronger supporting cast with more established actors. i’m also drunk so yeah. good shit as always Primm!
Facts like I don't think it's the craziest thing in the world to say a pam spin off could have worked givin more proper love and attention like this pilot was ok but the biggest problem I see is that it felt like this was a martin episode written with martin as the lead despite ticha Campbell being the lead actress
@@markellfrazier7528 Gina acted like Martin in certain episodes too, what's the name of that movie where Pam played Martin's gf or wife? Martin probably smashed Pam but not Gina
Unpopular opinion: PAM was always BADDA than Gina to me. They wrote Pam to be goofy and the butt of the jokes, and Gina to be the beauty,; but PAM STILL SHINED.
@@Zvwry it’s a new thing Some Black people are doing now. I don’t know who started or why people keep doing it but it’s very annoying and it’s more colorism. Pam is awesome, so is Gina end of story
A comment on a Bruh Man video said he was getting with Gina when she home alone cause she was never mad when he comes from the window, she waves and smile at him 😂
Man Tichina Arnold is a legend. She was great on Martin she was the shi_ on everybody hates chris and I loved her on survivors remorse and now she putting in work on the neighborhood. She and Cedric the Entertainer dont never be out of work.
The reason Pam’s spin-off didn’t work was because Fox cancelled all of the black shows in the mid & late 90s. The name of it was going to be Going For Mine.
Dondre Whitfield has been a child actor and he's been on stuff from all my children to The Cosby show as one of Vanessa's boyfriends. He was also on family matters as one of Laura's boyfriends the people in Martin's audience would have grew up with him.
@supahsean6710 In the Mix when he became a bodyguard of a childhood friend after getting shot by saving her father who is in the mob then the fall for each other.
@@TheStranger513X. Zach Lee, and also Kyle Barker and Christopher B. Jones (Braxton on Jaime Foxx) filled that bill as well. Jones played an OK enough "gangster" in Original Gangstas next to actual gangsta rappers (and Shyheim, who isn't lol) bntd in 95.
It reminds me of the Jackee spin-off from 227 that didn't get past the backdoor pilot episode... See, when you have a character like Jackee from 227, Pam from Martin or Geoffrey from Fresh Prince; those characters work because of the cast surrounding them. When you take one particular character and put them in a group of TERRIBLE supporting character; it just won't work! Yes, I'm glad this spinoff didn't go past this one episode because it just won't it...
Dondre was a heartthrob of that time.. 😂. I always see him play that type dude . He was in 2 can play that game.. Tamela Jones/Day Day BabyMomma played his girl, bussing up all his shihh
Thank you for the context Queen Scarlett Pimp Sunkiss! I legit did not know this dude. 90s sitcoms are filled with cameos from lightskin men who fell off
Yeah most pilots/first seasons are trash relatively as the show progress' and eventually finds it's own identity is when we really see a show for what it is now all that said this pilot had A LOT of issues but I really don't think a pam spin off would have been completely d.o.a.
@@mcbdllc2848 haha I know it’s all jokes and part of primm’s schick but I couldn’t let this one slide lmao 🤣, he don’t realize how bad females wanted homie back then. I follow him on IG, seems like a real chill cat, and family man.
Google he was on the Cosby show and soap opera All My Children but I didn't know this nigga. I remember he was on one episode of the Jaime Foxx Show when he was thinking about jumping on the building but that's it that I know.
I needed this weak ass spin off because if they didn’t show this then you wouldn’t be able to roast it and be the All Star we needed in RU-vid land. We love you, definitely No Pause 🌟
Dondre Whitfield was Vanessa's one-time love Robert on the Cosby Show...... I can't think of anything else at that time that would have the studio audience so worked up over his appearance randomly on the Martin universe. Shout out to Remy on Queen Sugar 🤭
He was errrrrrwhere back then, the light skin Giancarlo Esposito of his TV show star times lol. Damn near EVERY TV SHOW as the "minority quota black male" character was his role. He was featured in a lot of magazines like Ebony and Esquire, hence the loud black female reaction in the audience. It's OK not to know him today, he was a black face of the 90s.
This was actually Tyrese's third acting role. His very first acting role was that Coca Cola commercial, second he had a small role in the hit tv show Hangin with Mr. Cooper, and then there was his role with Tichnia Arnold in the series finale of Martin where he was scared to sing the song.
Unpopular opinion: I would have loved a pam spinoff. The pilot wasn't the best but most shows pilots are the weakest but show potential. And that's what I got from this. I saw potential.
@@destinedforgreatness3030 man controversial opinion I never understood Tisha hype. She's definitely a pretty woman don't get me wrong but i always found some of her co-stars could give her a run for her money.
Primm the only dude I know that can plug a bird dogs cup, say he put liquor in it and it be a good time and it be funny, like he really a all star! Primm for president 😂😂
