I still recall when my mother got a call from her half brother who bluntly informed her she had half sister she never knew about. Instantly mom started bawling and dad calmly walked over - picked up the phone and said "so what's going on?" ha ha. Grandma was a bit of a scamp and at a very early age had this daughter who was adopted by her aunt. Mom knew her, but as a cousin. In the end mom and her new half sister became pretty close.

I am 68 and was adopted in 1954. Through DNA I have discovered 2 half sisters and 8 half brothers. My Dad was a naughty boy. He had all of us with 4 different women all the time being married to the mother of 6 of my siblings. We are aged from 72 to 48 years old. My youngest brother was very upset when he discovered his mom had been lying to him about who his father was for his entire life. This can all get really emotional. One of my sisters won’t speak to me because she is angry that our Dad disrespected her mother by impregnating my mom.

@Nicky L I'm calling for calm, poor character is difficult to determine while one is in the seas of love. In this case, with limited facts, we only know a child was produced outside of the marriage covenant. It's most likely a running theme within this adulterous woman's life. It was most likely a mental condition or brought on by a feeling of control.

I appreciate that people respond positively to these scenarios. We had our own experience and it was wonderful. My husband's grandfather was adopted. I found out who the bio father was because my husband took a DNA test and matched with 3rd cousins. We found a half brother to my husband's grandfather still alive and we sent him a DNA test. Sure enough, there is a match to s great uncle. He was so wonderful. He just said, "this happened before he met my parents" and he was ok with it. It was great to talk to him. ❤️

Interesting how they glossed over the fact that Rose’s children “didn’t look like each other” while proving she had at least one child not with her husband. Give it up for Leonard, who, even if he might not have had close relationships with the children he raised, actually stepped up to the plate and took on that responsibility.

I found three half great uncles who are still alive. My grandfather didn’t belong to the man on his birth records. It was a convoluted area to research, but I found them and then I found one of their sons on Facebook. This would be my dad’s first cousin, but he’s closer in age to me and my siblings. It turns out my biological great grandfather was still fathering children into his 60s. My grandfather was born in 1926. His youngest brother was born in 1947 I think. He’s 2 years younger than my father would be. So I just found out the information. I then connected them to my dad’s siblings who are still alive. It’s been a good experience.

I’m curious as to whether she just got very lucky and never had any hardships, or if she was just a genuinely upbeat person and was able to overcome anything thrown at her? Hello AJ! We appreciate your interest in Ancestry and in learning more about your father, but regret any concerns around our pricing. We welcome this opportunity to provide some insights and suggestions that may be of interest for you. First, if you know nothing or very little about your biological father a DNA test would be a good starting point. This involves a one time cost at the time of purchase (standard price 99 USD plus shipping). We can recommend the following article for more information on how to use DNA results to search for unknown family: support.ancestry.com/s/article/Finding-Biological-Family. We'd also like to mention that we run discounts now and then, advertised via our promotional emails and on our website. If you're not already signed up to our promotional email list you may wish to consider this, instructions here: support.ancestry.com/s/article/Signing-up-for-Promotional-Emails-from-Ancestry Another service we offer is our subscriptions, which would provide access to search within historical record collections. We offer these on different levels, starting from 29.99 USD/month. You're very welcome to explore the various plans we offer here: www.ancestry.com/offers/subscribe. If you're not in a position to subscribe or purchase a DNA test at this time you're also very welcome to use the site as a free guest member. As such you can work on your own family tree and access our free to use collection. You can read more here: support.ancestry.com/s/article/Free-Registered-Guest-Accounts. Finally, many libraries also offer free access to Ancestry subscription content, so we recommend checking with your local one if interested. We hope this is helpful and wish you much success with your research!

@comealongcomealong4480
@comealongcomealong4480 Год назад
@MeMe DaVinci Yes. Marina Leece's mother, in Birkenhead England, became pregnant to Joseph Walthew. They don't tell us if he was married at the time. And Joseph's daughter Lucy Walthew was born two years later. A pregnancy was not an easy thing to hide in those days. It appears that not only Joseph, but his parents Benjamin and Rose Walthew, knew about baby Marina. And they maintained contact over time. As Marina describes her Mother taking all her kids to visit the Walthews - her unbeknownst paternal grandparents. It would be interesting to know the birth order of Marina and her four siblings. If she was first, perhaps Leonard Leece - registered as Father on her birth certificate - married an already pregnant woman. Not unheard of. Or, there was some kind of separation or breakdown in their marital relationship when Marina's mother commenced an affair. All up, they seem a terrific family. And Joseph Walthew is part of their story.
