Pan Am Boeing 747 Promo Film - 1984 

Captain Harvey Beebe Jr flew for Pan Am for 32 yeafs. He began as a navigator on the DC-7 then eventually becoming a 707 captain and retiring as a 747 captain. He retired after 32 years of meritorious service never once putting a scratch on himself,an airplane or anyone he transported. Captain Harvey Beebe Jr was my father and I am mighty proud of him.

I miss Pan Am... that's why I started working at Frankfurt Airport in 2002... 😊 i met former Pan Am staff too. Best airline

Wow! Ya ear before I graduated high school! Even in ‘84 this 747-100 looks like she’d flown many many miles and was looking like it! I’ve probably seen this one sitting at a gate overnight at SFO in the 80’s when I worked for American there. It was an eerie ghostly sound to hear the fan blades on the 747s clicking as they turned over in the wind in the middle of the night!✈️👻

I wish I had made a note of all the PA 747s I've flown on from 1970-1991 during my family trips to Yugoslavia every summer. PA 72 was a staple of our travel itineraries, as was the Clipper Club at JFK (the original location for the club which sat atop the terminal building).

My first trip to Germany: Lax-London Heathrow- Hamburg- Berlin Tegel. Return: Berlin- Tegel - Hamburg, London-Heathrow- JFK- Lax. Ticket cost was $895.00 in 1981...and that was the cheapest fare we could find. Good times and good memories! Great food too!

My first flight to Ireland was on Pan Am. First Class (or Clipper Class they called it.) I was 6 years old.

What really amazes me is that no matter how advanced commercial aviation gets, and no matter how fancy and automated modern planes become, they never really change in terms of overall appearance; for example, the Boeing 747-8 looks virtually the same as the 747-100, the only noticeable difference being the extended upper deck and raked wingtips, and don't forget that's over a span of over 4 decades.

Sounds like KC-135As starting engines during the taxi sequence. No question, those are not JT9Ds.

I never flew Pan Am or on a 747, miss them both.

Al Pacino Scarface took that Pan Am helicopter in New York City to a Pan Am flight from New York City to Miami, Florida and you can see where that got him. Personally, I would have done the same thing but would have spent it on Miami beach instead.

By 1984, B747 was no longer a sensation at FRA and PANAM was an airline in deep financial trouble..in 1986 it sold its Transpacific routes and had already in 1982 stopped its Round-the -world flights PA01 and PA02 via London and Frankfurt.

In the later years Pan Am planes sure looked dirty all the time.
