WATCH PART ONE HERE: • Pan Am Inspired Destin...
Join us for Part Two of our Pan Am Inspired Destination Wedding Invitation Suite video. This destination wedding stationery suite is our most involved project to date. We’ll be using screen printing, letterpress printing, and die cutting to create the entire collection from beginning to end. The design is a faithful recreation and homage to the historic Pan American Airlines. Watch along as we take you through the making of each piece of printed matter. We’ll be printing a Flight Ticket inspired Wedding Invitation with a unique tear-away RSVP card, custom luggage hang tags, a baggage check form, an enclosing folder, and custom zipper tab envelope to bring it all together. We’ll be mixing and matching color, trying out metallic inks, pushing the depth of letterpress impression, and shaping and folding paper stock. Get a true behind the scenes look at how this boutique wedding stationery suite is made from scratch. We use a variety of paper stocks from cotton paper, to coated paper, to uncoated paper to build a wedding invitation set that recalls an era of mid-century inspired design.
The classic look and feel of the Pan Am logo and typefaces work perfectly for a Hawaiian destination wedding. When all the pieces of this suite come together it makes for an incredible package. The variety and assortment of cool print pieces feels exciting and impactful to all those invited. A true keepsake for an event that will remain in people’s memories forever.

It makes me sad to point this out after seeing how much work has gone into this beautiful invite but I noticed during the close up at 28:09 that it says “desitnation” instead of destination! Minor detail that can hopefully just pass without many people noticing haha. Anyway, it was a gem to see this randomly on my recommended and keep up the good work! It was so fascinating and amazing to see the whole process!
@Christopher_T_Paul
@Christopher_T_Paul 3 года назад
I doubt it will be presented to the customer like this. This is an expensive job no doubt and needs to be flawless as many will keep the invite as a keepsake. Thankfully the error was on one of the simpler processes, but having to remake the plate will be an upset.

theacanuto these prints are likely just for their marketing to show what they can do and not for an actual wedding. I would be very concerned if they just exposed the names of many many people in this wedding as well as the time place and date of someone’s wedding. It does suck that they have a typo but again I doubt this is for a real wedding. However if anyone is in Maui on august 16th 2022 you should totally go to the address and see what’s up lol.
@Christopher_T_Paul
@Christopher_T_Paul 3 года назад
The RSVP was 8th March 2020, so the job would have been sent out last year, unless the date was a typo as well? Its a bit of an unfortunate mistake and even if it was for marketing, it would have to be reprinted. Shame as the job was completed to a good standard.

For someone who worked in the Print industry from the ages of 16-35, it is great to see all these old school techniques being used. From 1996-98 I saw the desktop computer revolutionise the industry... strippers were no longer a position, whole darkrooms were dismantled in thrown in the dumpster and in my opinion the whole prepress process ceased to be a trade. Sure we had old windmills running still but, room sized die cutters were becoming the norm. No more cutting sheets, right from press to die cutter with even sheet weeding being completely automated. The Industry as a whole has changed more than mose in under 20 years. For a while now we've had digital variable data presses that can do a lot of this personalized work. Its good to see someone becoming a master of their craft and all of the old tricks being used on equipment that ten years ago was being left to rot or be cannibalized out back by the dumpster.

The Heidelberg Platen (Windmill) is perhaps the most satisfying press to operate, ever designed, Other presses may be faster, bigger, or make more precise prints (like the Heidelberg Cylinders), but the "Windmill" is just a joy to watch, use, and run. I operated one for 5 years in a small print shop in WV, and I miss it tremendously. I wish I had the money and space to own one of my own, just as a "hobby press"...

A tip from an old timer....if you’re going to dubbed bump save your arm and just run the job then just run thru again... we always did this when running gold heildelbergs hold great register ... just an tip but to each their own

@johndrzal4087
@johndrzal4087 3 года назад
katkou I know what he is doing but register is register it’s no problem just easier in my years as a pressman I’ve run 10’s of thousands of dibble impression sheets our company ran a lot of gold ink on labels just easier that’s all... but as I said to each their own... pressman for 55 years
@zacharydouglas4309
@zacharydouglas4309 3 года назад
Out of curiosity. Is it more efficient to send it through twice rather than do the double tap?
@JukeboxPrintLive
@JukeboxPrintLive 3 года назад
@@johndrzal4087 I find this all depends on the color of ink being printed. Sometimes a second pass can throw a color off while a skip feed won't. Our light blue would likely have gone too dark whereas a gold ink or black ink may end up looking better. Every job is different and we use whichever technique provides the best result. I certainly wouldn't skip feed any run larger than 500...
@johndrzal4087
@johndrzal4087 3 года назад
Jukebox Print I agree if you were using an transparent white but you were using an opaque white since the ink was not transparent wouldn’t have changed color just make it more interested..... only works with opaque colors ... try it once you’ll be surprised

Yes, we could do that. We call that a "rider roller" and it helps with "ghosting" in the print more than anything. Those rider rollers are a little tricky sometimes so we usually choose not to use them.
