Not one of the greatest but the absolute greatest steelpan orchestra of all time. There has never been another Steelband like them. They went out into the world and left people, up to the classical musicians, conductors, and directors, amazed and mystified by what the "pan" could do. One of the things this was due to was that they had some of the best players ever. Few players came up to their standard even to this day. Proud of those guys. They live on.
I remember I was living in George street at the time and one of my neighbors brother was playing in the band in Woodford square and we went and they played this same song and the square was packed and there was thunderous applause when they finished,I was young then, now I much older and live in Trincity, those were joyous days, not like now
I remember these guys from 64-65 when I was stationed at the Navy base in Trinidad. I enjoyed two Carnivals while I was there 🎉 Used to go to the Hilton Hotel on liberty in Port of Spain.
I have heard this song played night after night as I lay in bed. Its like yesterday to me, and I can still hear the sound in my head just as I heard it back then. I lived within ears reach from where Pan North Stars practiced. I was super lucky to have their music engraved way back in my memory. Always a great band. The BEST......
