My grandparents owned Sierra Apts and my parents ran The Ocean Terrace Motel at 8621 West Surf Drive back in the day. I was lucky enough to spend summers in PCB til I was 17 when they sold the properties. It exists today as The Ocean Terrace Condos. This vintage video takes me back to PCBs good old days!😀

I lived here from the 1950s. The Watkins family was one of the first mixed race families in this area, and they were forced to live in what was called 'the quarters", and was originally called "the slave quarters". My grandmother was two thirds black, my mother one third. You would never know it to look at me today. But I remember the blatant racism which the Democrat Party forced down our throats. It did not matter how intelligent you were, or how well read. You were still considered "not quite". I wish i could report that things have changed much. They have not. The racism here is still as bad as ever, just very well hidden. If Trump has his way, my mother's people will finally have the chance to become great FOR THE FIRST TIME! TRUMP2020! (What the hell do we have to lose?)
Yeah, the way I remembered, it was called "Ransom Quarters" and located in Glenwood. I was born and raised in Panama City and couldn't wait to leave the place. This generation has no idea of what racism truly is. They couldn't last one moment with those good ol' boys from the 1960's or 1970's like Sheriff Doc Daffin or Tullis Easterling. Both of whom were Democrats! A lot of people have moved from there and didn't look back. Too depressing for them. I think the place has a bright future, myself.
