And if the environment isn't suitable the claim to fame is ludicrous because the death tolls are astronomical.

How does it do it? Are there two sets of microphone elements?

It might have stereo mics facing the sides and an additional center mic facing forward, or but zoom mics usually do it electronically, by mixing the L and R mics into L+R (sum) and L-R (difference) and adjusting the ratio of them.

themaritimegirl Thank you very much. With his many health issues you always think you’re prepared for the worst but it always comes as a shock. I’m happy however he doesn’t suffer anymore and now at rest ❤️ In other news the video was fab as always. I have the Panasonic MS4, rather a similar model it seems. Mine plays pre recorded video great but on recording the sound is unnaturally quiet and bit of random lines on recording to normal vhs or s-vhs so definitely something going on. I know it’s not just a heads issue however as if I plug the camera in to my iMac live the sound is still silly low so probably bad caps or something. For sure, as long as OBS or whatever streaming software you use supports your capture device. Unfortunately OBS doesn't support a camera connected via FireWire.

This might be obvious, but make sure you're using a tape with an intact record protect tab. If that tab is knocked out, it won't record.

There isn't any cable that goes with the battery. The battery just slots into the battery compartment.

What about the cable that goes from the battery adapter to the camera? Doesn't the battery charge in the camera? @@themaritimegirl

@@themaritimegirl I'm sorry if I sound dumb but no it's not a joke. I paid 50$ and they gave me a DVD with black and white footage on it in pretty low quality not even comparable to yours :( Very sad right now.

@@ozemipd No no, not dumb, just.. wow, what a situation. To begin with, this is a camcorder - it takes videotape, not film, so there is no "developing". I'll just assume that was a wrong word used on your part. So what did you do, take the VHS tape into this place and ask them to transfer it to DVD? Did they advertise such a service? Because it sounds like they had no idea what they were doing if they gave you a disc with black and white footage. Unless your camcorder is actually malfunctioning and recording a black and white signal onto the tape. Have you hooked a video cable from the camcorder to a TV to make sure that the camera is actually working properly, and recording to the tape properly? Early examples of this camcorder have issues with bad capacitors today that cause them to malfunction. Honestly, it's a lot easier and cheaper to just do it yourself. If you have a DVD recorder, then you can plug the camcorder into that to transfer the video. Or you can buy one of those USB devices that have a composite input on them to transfer the video to your computer. I use a method that involves using a FireWire port on my computer, and a Sony Handycam to convert the S-Video signal to DV. @@themaritimegirl i had mine for a year now still works i record with it alot on my channel still holding up i mean if my camera dose fail i may recap it or buys the svhs i just recordered a youtube video with my new svhs et camera but it depends f the onvirerment were it was stored mine came from a tv station an usly tv stations are tempture controled if you wanna see the video of mine ill send yo the link atho mine dose have a weird thing were you can hear a motor runing fast dont know what it is also mine may be haveing bad caps your quality is difforant then my camera makes tho yours is svhs XD

I just checked out your video - it looks perfect. It'll be slightly fuzzier than mine since it's normal VHS, but your digitization process could also be lowering the quality a bit, depending on what you use.

I am inclined to agree. I have one .These were never professional standard but the higher end of VHS.I had 3 at one stage. we used them for weddings.

real professionnal grade s-vhs only mean they can be used in professional broadcast environement, by the connectors they used. the same for battery with anton bauer connector, all full professional standard connectors and features, that's all. and also body material used, real professional grade used metal bodies. and very likely also some care to dust/water resistance. s-vhs was a nice alternative to betacam for news and stuff like that, where color resolution was less a concern. but a 3 CCD camcorder could also perfectly have been used as a standalone camera as they really were pro grade. 750 lines of horizontal resolution was faaaaaar overkill even for broadcasting. but those as in this video are as said by panasonic themselves, industrial grade. i will even go further, when s-vhs was released in 87 it was superior in luma resolution than commonly used u-matic/bvu and betacam oxide, and even slightly superior than early betacam sp. only in luma of course :D but i would even say than it was closely on par with u-matic in chroma resolution (they both used the color under technique). so really, it wasn't a ridiculous choice for some usage in professional broadcast, and if we compare on price, maintenance and every parts were cheaper than anything else.

As I showed in the video, I drilled a hole in the cassette to fool the camcorder into thinking it's S-VHS. It's a good quality tape, so I'm getting close to 100% of the quality that I would get if I used a real S-VHS tape. I think I may have the opportunity to acquire some S-VHS tapes in the near future, so I might do a comparison video.

@@themaritimegirl For a VHS tape, the result was not really bad. The oxide quality of this tape was good. But with S-VHS tape you should improve the pixel definition, because S-VHS tape has a different oxide media formulation for higher magnetic coercivity. I liked the test and it missed me. Feel like testing my AG-456, and see if it still works. lol. I still have the PV-425 VHS stored in the case. I believe that both still work. I have a battery for each one and also the chargers, but I don't know if the batteries will still accept charging. I will probably have to test it on the charger. I also have a JVC S-VHS GY-X2. It should work too.
