This is Part 2 and final video in the restoration of this Japanese built Panasonic DX3000. In this video I give the bike a fresh coat of paint and refit all the parts that I restored in Part 1 video.
Check out smoovelube.com/ to see the amazing lube I use on all my restoration projects.

This bike brings back so many great memories of my early teens in 1987. My best friend had that exact model. we would ride morning till the sun went down. RIP Mikey. Thanks for taking to time to restore this beauty.

I had a dx3000 stupid I sold it as it was my first bike with gears / old shimano 105 , I eventually found a bianchi from 1988 beautiful bike . The DX was a grey frame with pink handlebars and logo with a hint of blue , to me that bike looked SOOOOO!!! 80s ! ❤

Wow what an amazing job. I have a 1988 DX1000 still original and maybe someday I will do a full restoration. Thanks for the video.

Better than when it came out the factory 👍. Truly masterful and a real inspiration, it’s given me that final nudge to attempt a full frame strip to bare metal and new paint. I’ll be coming back to this vid and numerous others of yours and paying very careful attention. Thank you so much for sharing.😁

I had an 1987 Nishiki Olympic 12 I bought new when I was 15 and had the same group set as that Pannisonic. Even the rims.

Top work Brett. I like to see restoration in condensed real time. That is, showing me the detail of the process but not necessarily the half hour of polishing. Keep up the great work.

The way you refinished the frame and parts, they look better than factory new! Kudos! The paint job especially. Can’t remember Panasonic ever have that nice finish…
@BuffsVintageBikes
@BuffsVintageBikes 2 года назад
Thank you. Fortunately the quality of the paint has also increased quite dramatically nowadays so you’re able to get much better finishes if you follow the processes and do good prep work 👍🏼

I was wondering about those tubes that you covered cables with at those friction points... I saw you use them in another video, and I was thinking that when I was a bike mechanic back in the mid 80s we didn't use anything like that. I like it! Better than grease!
@BuffsVintageBikes
@BuffsVintageBikes Год назад
Yup, it all goes about reducing the friction points and they help a lot. You just need to remember to keep them clean if you’re using the bike a lot in poor conditions 👍🏼

I like the silicone cable housing in the bottom shift cable guide however I would think water and dirt would be trapped inside.

Great work and attention to details, truly inspiring. I'm about to do a restoration project and would like to ask what software do you use for stencil creation? I've researched quite a lot and could not find any simple enough for 2D printing. I use Fusion for CNC designing, but I guess it is not applicable here.

Thank you 🙏🏼 I use the proprietary software that comes with my cutter called Silhouette Studios but often also use Inkscape for image manipulation.

Sorry I could not watch and enjoy this video with the music rather than Buff simply describing the step by step restoration process. Music I can listen to at any time, and I prefer to choose my own, thank you very much. There goes yet another channel my wife and I once enjoyed due to over-production. Pity.

Hi Brett, I don’t think the music is overpowering in your restoration. I can still hear the buffing as you polish the frame. Looking forward to your next restoration. Cheers from, Melbourne Australia
