Thanks for your nice video. I saw a review on RU-vid that the FZ1000 does not stabilize in 4K but only in 1080P. What is your opinion on that? If it doesn't stabilize in 4K does the GH4 stabilize in 4K? Thanks!
Adding on to what Carter said, how do you think the FZ1000 is compared to say the cannon rebel series is it better than all those? I'm only talking video here. if you can name a camera specifically DSLR that's its close to in video quality not based on the low light capabilities
Hi Max I am new to photography and I am looking for a good entry point camera, i love the FZ1000 because of the 4K capability and the Zoom function. However, should I invest in a camera that cannot change its lens. Unfortunately, the GH4 is outside my range so that is not an option. So I was just wondering what your opinion would be....FZ1000 or invest in a DSLR camera with changeable lens? ...... also does the Sony RX-10 shoot video in 4K, if so, which is the better option in your opinion, between the FZ1000 and the RX-10... Hi max, Im thinking of getting an fz-1000 using your link of course :) I was curious though, how does the video quality stack up against other DSLR like cameras with bigger senors? Im all about the image quality and all i do is video so im just curious if the fz1000 will have better video quality then the other dslrs when its shooting in 4k? Thanks!
+Carter Jensen The downside of a smaller sensor (both GH4 and FZ1000) is image quality at higher ISO's. At the base iso of 200, the FZ1000 video quality will look just as good as the $3000 A7s2. Once the ISO's go up, say 1600 the A7s2 (with full frame sensor) will look much better than the FZ1000 or GH4/NX1. Basically make sure you have proper lighting and you'll get great results with the camera.
Hi Max, I'm torn between an FZ1000 or an LX100. Judging from various RU-vid videos I've seen between the two, the LX100 videos look a little sharper to me. However, I really like the nice clear slo-mo effect of the FZ1000 when using 120fps at 1080p. I'm not a pro, so have to ask, if 60fps is the highest frame rate on the LX100, is there any post production in iMovie or Final Cut that will simulate 120fps smoothly? I'm also wondering which of the two cameras you think is better overall. I don't care about the big zoom on the FZ1000 btw. Thanks!
if you don't care about the zoom go lx100. 60fps is a sharper/more detailed image with less artifacts in it and yes there is a great program called twixtor. it costs $ but works really well. :)
Max Yuryev Thanks Max!! I think I will go for the LX100! I saw one in a store (I'm in the Toronto area) the other day, and it was a gorgeous, pro-looking little thing! Might wait till just before, or right after, Christmas to see if some stores knock off $50 or $100. Up here, in the Great White North (as Geddy sang), things are still overpriced!
Why would you advise on getting the lx100 over the fz1000? It lacks in the zoom range department, doesn't have built in Stabilization and no cine d profile. It also doesn't have a articulating lcd screen. Can you point out how one might benefit from getting the lx? Thanks for all of your wonderful videos.
PrinceTian He doesn't care about the zoom. You get a much faster lens and I'm 99% sure that it does have IS. Cine D shouldn't be used unless you know what your doing and will be doing heavy color grading and de-noising. 90% of people that use the GH4 professionally now use Natural pp. Less noise, nicer skin tones, and same DR. No articulating lcd but its much smaller so a lot of people would end up using it more often.
I heard you mention that they are coming out with an adapter for canon lenses? Just wondering when that was coming out and also any advice on the cheapest lens to get for low light on the GH4. Eventually i will get the speed booster but i dont want to if i can use my canon lenses from my canon T3i. Also would you suggest selling my lenses on my canon camera and just get nokia lenses? just curious. I really like your stuff and im looking to get a Gh4 and using your link to buy the stuff. thanks again. Aaron
Hi Aaron! They actually just announced the canon EF to M43 speedbooster and I have one on the way to my place with the fastest shipping method that was available (from Hongkong) there are already adapters for Canon lenses to M43 but you don't have aperture control so your stuck wide open. This adapter will widen your image, give you 1 stop more light as well as image stabilization and aperture control in camera!
If your considering switching fully to Panasonic I would switch and sell the lenses unless you want to use both. The GH4 is about the same in lowlight as your t3i but the image quality is phenomenal as well as so many other things. As far as lens choice the 20mm F1.7 is under $400 and really sharp for photos and video amzn.to/1sLtwWQ. Unfortunately they don't have a lens like the 50mm 1.8 that's cheap and fast.
Hi Max, i'm a real novice to the photography, only ever had point and shoot camera's., but going on 2 holidays next year to China and Africa, was thinking about buying a 4k camcorder, but was advised from Jessops not to get one and go for a camera, like the fz1000, I was thinking about something with a wide lens for taking pictures of animals and sedentary.willing to pay £1000 ish, even if I can pick up a better model second hand, Thanks
Yes I think you'd be better off getting a FZ1000, or even a Sony RX10 mk 2 (similar to FZ1K ) if you can afford the RX10 MK3 that would be my choice for your trips. Thanks for watching and subscribing :)
Hey Max, another really great video. I have the fz1000 and it makes a constant rumbling noise like maybe a fan running all the time when its in photo or video mode. Have you heard anything like that? Anyway I love what your doing with your channel. I do something similar but I do media player reviews and other gadget review as well. Max Yuryev I really love the camera but I'm afraid that it will have problems in the future. I'll have to return it. Maybe i'll just get a GH4 w a LUMIX G Vario 35-100mm lens.
SomeCoolTech A noise from inside any camera might be the image stabilization running. Try to turn the IS off and listen. Also go to the shop and check if that's the case with other units (if you haven't changed to GH4 already).
