Great video. I also own one of these and I really like the powerchord. It enables me to run the camera off any powerpack which can give me hours of operation instead of buying expensive batteries. And using it that way, this connector is much more robust than micro-usb.
Yeah you mean barrel connector. It’s a nice feature of Panasonics and more robust than the proprietary connector Sony uses for its camcorder power adapters.
The 50x digital zoom is with no image quality loss (this is possible because the image sensor is 600% higher than full HD, allowing digital zooming with no quality loss). There is a setting to allow digital zooming up to 1500x, that's the one that causes quality loss, not the 50x zoom.
Thanks for this video. I've been watching other reviews of the HCV770 and decided to buy this recorder which I did just half an hour online before watching yours. Your video tells me I have made the right decision as I am both a video hobbyist and an amateur videographer. I have a DSLR but wanted a camcorder as DSLR, as good as they are, have their limitations and wanted to have an option and a second camera with which to record videos
If this camera is good but kinda meh, does anyone have any other suggestions? I am a small time RU-vidr on a limited budget who wants to get into Vlogging and recording Sketches as well as the gameplay I've done thus far. 95% of reviews said to get the Canon G7X but its a point 'n' shoot camera not a camcorder so I was confused! Budget of the £400/$500 mark. P.S. External Mic Ideas for this or any other camera? :)
Actually he’s a dumb whacked out fad boy. The barrel connector power cable is vastly superior and actual an open non-proprietary standard. It’s designed to work and work well, not make you feel special about your sorry infantile existence. 👎
Yes a propitiatory charging cable not so great, but being separate from the mini USB for transfer a person can charge or keep battery up while using transfer cable. Using transfer cable for charging from computer is much slower
Just bought this camera for full price in 2022. How do you turn the LIGHT off? I need to record a kids concert and that light will get me kicked to the curb. Also do you format the SD card before you use it or after?
About the cold shoe.i been down the rabbit whole of youtube and panasonic has the same detachable cold shoe on several of their mid to high end camcorders. I guess making the cold shoe optional. Is good for space and doesn't put unneeded ware and tare on a part of the camera that is snap off if you have it in a tight package filled up camera bag.
That cable is not proprietary, those connections have been standard for decades. On top of that, if I'm not mistaken, I think it can be charged with its USB port also. But there is nothing whatsoever proprietary about that plug you say is proprietary, it couldn't possibly be more standard. That's like calling a 120 v power outlet proprietary.
Is this camera still working? What shutter speed to record at football games? maybe 1/120 since probably doing 60 frames per second? Also do you ever play around with aperture when it is sunny outside vs cloudy vs mix of sun and clouds? What's up?
Thanks for the low down on the screen switching off whils using the smatrtphone to control it. That's a bit of a deal-breaker for me, but there doesn't seem to be anything better at the mo for this respect.
I have the V380K model and i find it annoying too. If i have it outside to record the birds at the feeder, while I'm in the house, I can't adjust the manual settings remotely and have to kill the wifi to adjust it on the unit itself if i remember correctly. Should be a way to make some adjustments remotely or during a wifi connection.
That corny mobile phone control and PiP is actually a really slick feature for using the camera as a platform to capture camecasts for tabletop games. the ability to pop in the sub-cam image is kinda nice. Will it only display bottom right or bottom left?
I have this camera for lectures with a rode pro mic... it does the job... quick and easy to use... excellent picture.would like to be able to monitor sound on camera ..when i need that feature i use a HN1 recorder
Is this filmed at Lake Belton? i thought i recognize that turn around at the end of the dam, and the RV park, and miller springs park behind the buzzards..... dieing to know!?
How can i choose to record 120fps full HD videos?? I know how to select slow motion but I don't know how to pick between 30,60, or 120fps.... Can you help me please?
actually the microphones of this camera are not the issue. It is the AD converter and build in audio recorder in the camera that sucks. I connected Sennheiser and DPA microphones (a class or 10 higher then Rode) to this camera and the sound still sucks. Good sound with this camera is only possible with an external audio recorder and then sync it is post. At the end of this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Q199zLxkKXs.html you can hear the most expensive DPA headset on a sennheisser wireless system going into the camera. The sound still sucks. IT is a v750 but as I own both 750 and 770 cameras I can tell you the sound is equally bad on both camera's. Still I love these cameras for their price class :)
I appreciate your candidness, but for a better review I'd recommend some consideration about commenting on features you don't understand. The reason for proprietary connector instead of micro USB for power is that there is already a micro USB for data transfer... if there were two USB connectors, consumers would plug power into data and damage the unit. Other USB connectors are large, and space constraints are a BIG concern when attempting to get the overall unit size as small as possible. in regards to the removable shoe, it is NOT an after thought. Do you really believe the designers added a complex quick release feature and internal slide as a bandaid solution? No, a lot of engineering went into the design that affects many different parts and the tooling to make them. You're misleading viewers with your review, so please just accept this as small constructive feedback on future reviews. Thank you for the unboxing.
12:40 Interesting because in their HC W cameras they had a second camera installed facing backwards, but I believe it recorded to a separate video channel?
While thanking you, I want to side with Ben M down below. I think you have been too critical with your review too. But don't take it to heart, it's still a great review though not complete
I`m kinda new to video recording but can anyone tell me why i can record 1 hour LESS of MP4 format compared to AVCHD on the V770 (with same settings)? MP4 should be more compressed and thus smaller in size right?
That 4k camera sounds cool in theory. But while I feel that 4k is cool, I feel that it's trying to be implemented too quickly for the rest of entertainment to catch up. There isn't enough video or pictures out there to justify buying 4k stuff yet. If major TV and movie companies recorded more in 4k, then I could start justifying it. Good video though.
By the way, the reason I'm looking at this is I have the HC-V700 and after being submerged in dirty flood water and filling up completely with it, it still works like new other than the internal lenses being dirty and uncleanable, so I need a new one.
I have just bought this camera, and in the recording settings, I am only given the option to film in 50fps, not 60 as I have seen in this review and a number of others. Any clue what could be causing this? Thanks.
I record using the highest setting and then after I'm done editing I publish in 1920 by 1080 at 60 frames per second, I edit my videos using CyberLink PowerDirector 14 although it's worth mentioning PowerDirector 15 was released a couple of months ago, I haven't had a chance to try it yet.
When I bought my camera the " kit " came with 2 so called professional lens. One was a zoom lens and the other was a wide angle/micro lens. Both of then are " JUNK " and do not work well with the camera. I looked at the Panasonic website and the do offer a zoom lens. How good it is, I haven't a clue. This camera DOES NOT have night vision. It has " low light " but not night vision.
IMHO the sound quality on the HC V770 is very bad. I have an 10 year old JVC HQ camera that has better sound quality. With that said, all the other features I really like on this camera, it takes great video. Very disappointed in Panasonic, they went " Cheap " on the sound. 5 microphones on this camera and it still sound like " junk " is a big let down. To think years ago Panasonic made decent reel to reel stereo audio recorders. It's not that they don't know how, they just went " cheap ". Over all as a non professional this camera has great video quality and if you use an external lapel microphone, shotgun microphone or wireless microphone you can get decent/good sound quality.
Whew! Suffered thorough your review...So negative. Even when you found something you liked it was always described as "pretty good"..Never a real compliment. I liked your explanation of its its function s (helpful) then your review devolved into an overly opinionated, negative criticism...Damn, what a shame....
it sounds like me. I can spot imperfections or annoyances and it bothers me one i notice them. I am pretty picky but also have higher tastes then my budget can allow me to buy a better model.
