Thanks for the follow up, your right it’s a different tool and I’m enjoying what this small but feature packed camcorder from Panasonic is capable of. What’s more I’m enjoying shooting video again with the X2000 👍

Found the same thing with my Z-190. You can get good dof, but only if you do it from a distance and zoom in on the subject. Not ideal, but it's a trade off worth making for how versatile it is as a reportage camera.

hi there. You got awesome footage for sure. How is the 1080p footage? I want to replace my old Canon XF300 with this x1500 or X2000 (not sure what the upgrade is to the top of the line AG-CX10) and I want to get the best 1080p pic possible. I would use 4K sometimes. How is the X1500 in lower light? I know I can't compare it to a GH5 but I hope it's better than my current ancient XF300 if I'm to buy 2 in the near future...thanks so much for sharing the video.

Finally... NOT an "unboxing video," and NOT a side by side review. Best of all, the presenter isn't, or wasn't trying to be "everybody's bud..." you know the ones... the same ones who start off with those lazy ass intros of "hey guyz, or hi guyz, wutz-up?" and every connotation and every imaginable and invented too damned lazy to try introduction. This was a short but very informative video that answered quite a few questions simply with the video content. I would liked to have seen more reviews and demos describing the capabilities and the useful features of the camcorder. I'd also be very interested in knowing the pros and the cons of having a camcorder like this. But overall, I am very satisfied with the video content because it clearly illustrates and demonstrated the capability of the camcorder. I realize it's an older model. But now that I saw with my own eyes what it can do, I am considering ordering and buying one brand new. I rarely buy electronics used and have a strong preference to buy new. That's because used electronic products manufacturer's warranties are expired and are non-transferable. So I prefer to buy new almost exclusively and solely for the product's manufacturer's warranty. Although rare, there have been times when I resorted to exercising and used the manufacturer's warranty services. Once for a repair, the other to return or exchange a defective product. A warranty is a guarantee of protection for the consumer. It is also a reminder and a way for the maker of products to protect themselves from frivolous lawsuits. By honoring the word of a warranty, the maker and buyer are both equally protected under the law. So many people make the mistake of NOT registering their products online. By registering a product, the manufacturer's warranty is instantly validated and active for the life of the warranty period. It does come in very handy now and again. Maybe you should make a video explaining the meanings and validity of warranties and why they are important. It would be helpful to see videos that explains how and why registering a product is vitally important to the consumer and product makers. So many people don't understand, and fail to understand why a company won't replace or repair a defective product that isn't protected with the product warranty. It's a valuable lesson I learned many years ago. I don't buy new products without a manufacturer's warranty because I believe in the warranty services and understand their importance.

People shouldn't be complaining about depth of field with camcorders. It's usually got a sensor smaller than micro 4/3 found on a GH5. Thats like complaining about no depth of field on a Gopro. That's not what it's meant for.

Thanks for the video. I've currently got a Sony AX33 which I'm fairly unhappy with. The footage is dull and it seems to hide colours that my GoPro, for example, seem to be able to pick up. Would I expect this camera to be an upgrade simply from the perspective of picking up the colours? Thanks.

Thanks for the review and sample footage. At 2:30 and 3:11 we see evidence of super-weak dynamic range. Maybe the raw data is still marginally recoverable in post. All the same, a Black Magic PC 4K (similar price in a basic kit) would render these sorts of open-sky shadows with acceptable detail in a raw video feed. Lots can be done in post, but only just so much. Image sharpness also seems a bit soft -- even in bright lighting. But this could be the camera trying to produce an artistic 'bokeh' effect. Ultimately, automated in-camera choices (and their quirky consequences) never go away until the choices are at least partly back in the hands of the camera operator. Overall. samples from the HC-X1500 look okay for run-of-the-mill RU-vid and family vacation videos, but dynamic range performance and soft focusing like this are show-stoppers for anyone looking for anything remotely close to professional results.

I am considering this camera after using the x1000 very happily for a few years. I will likely plug in the rode wireless 2 into it but also wanted your advice on a good general purpose mic to plug in for run and gun filming. What’s your gut instinct for something decent and good value?

Very nice footage, on the buildings etc the left corner of the image seems a bit soft , is this my imagination ? How sharp is the lens wide open on the wide end ?

When I bought the AG-DVX200 model, the X1500 model did not yet exist. It has the advantage of being much more compact and discreet compared to the DVX200 model. 2.5 kg against 1.2 kg. You are less likely to be disturbed by curious people, security agents or police who are afraid of being filmed as if they thought they were so interesting.

Do more street scene footage with people close-ups people scrambling thru the sidewalks direct camera address. Jump cuts, like filming with 16mm format with a bolex. Go beyond the cinematic limit, and let her rip. I am a filmmaker and want to do video “films”, utilizing spontaneous cinematic techniques beyond the limits of what video normally does. Having used 8mm film format, then super8 to 16mm format, I would definitely experiment with 4K video to see what the limits would be with this medium. Let HC-X1500 rip Pav, thanks. Plan to purchase one anyway, but it would be great to see how it can be pushed to the limit, for documentary, to on street cinema, thanks

Which one delivers better video quality. A73 sony or Panasonic hcx2000?

This camcorder is sold out everywhere in the US. I contacted Panasonic and they said they dont know when it will be back in production or can give me any sites where its available. Im so pissed because I finally saved up the money to buy this and its not to be found anywhere. Idk how theres no stock for it when its brand new.

What are the files? Does iMovie support it?

I love Panasonic Camcorder more than sony because Panasonic have good colors details. Fast auto focus. Sharpness etc

The Panasonic HC-X1500 camera has one flaw that you have to consider and accept when you buy it. it is compatible only with the tablets of the brand Appel.

Today I was testing out a Panasonic HC - x2000 cost £1,849. Frist the the video camera needed charging, oh bear this in mind the test was going to be for 10 minutes so it's not long enough to charge a battery, the manager said I was not to leave the shop with it, but after I point out it's a test not a full review, he said only for a minute or 2, I wasn't happy with this and returned 1 hour later, now no one at Clifton cameras had a clue about the video camera and I only could see from RU-vid video how to setup, now to problems the menu did not work very well, the SD cards did not recognize sd card, but then started working but did not record, so the much long wait to get the Panasonic HC-X2000E from Panasonic for the test over 4 weeks and ending with a video camera that was not fit for purpose

I don't know there is something wrong with my screen or something! But in my opinion, this is not a good quality at all, does not look like 4K 2160x at all! Is this the best this camera performs? If so, it's not worth the money! So I'm not critical of you Pav SZ, I just expected better quality from this camera!

1/2.5" sensor.. I mean even an old Samsung has a better sensor

clean image in good light but poor dynamic range , looking very videoish in other words, it's rubbish
