Hey Dave, I have received mine the 31th of August, after reservation 1 month ago, here in Spain. Only 6 days after, the camera is out of stock. Coming from a SONY DSC-V3 (10 years old), the difference is evident. Lots of features, configurations, etc. that I have to test lots of them yet. The Transcend 128 GB High Speed 10 UHS-3, works perfectly and is in a very interesting price. Great Unboxing.
Very nice camera. Pretty big lens as well. So far it seems like a great camera, love the option to switch from zoom or focus on the lens, having the microphone input is brilliant, the price is really good for a 4k bridge camera. Really interesting - was about to go for the GH4 but I'm now wondering about this one. It's really amazing what Panasonic are bringing out at the moment. Can't wait for your review - would love to know what the image comparison is like between this and the GH4 re the post production process. PS Received my prize today - thank you so much.
Lens cap has holes for a string but there is no string in the kit :D My old FZ100 has one but on the 1000 I'll have to buy a separate string or loose the cap almost immediately :D
Hey Dave. Just came across your channel looking at this review and really impressed with all of your content. Genuine down to earth advice and reviews. Well impressed and am still browsing around looking through the videos. Maybe you can help me out with a hard decision? I am weighing up either this FZ1000 or the sony RX10 and can't decide between the two. The lens attracts me to the sony but the 4k puuls me in for the panasonic. I want to start some videos to do with my photography and can't pick a second camera. Which one do you prefer and why? Any advice? Thanks in advance. Greg

Can you link please to the lens protector you bought and how much was it. What about spare batteries. I just want the 4k for the photo grabbing ability and not 4k itself. Does the 4k video play on non 4k laptops and phones or do I need to process them to separately to watch in 1080p.

agh,I would love this,looks perfect but a bit too pricey,beyond current budget. I've been looking for 2 weeks in every spare moment for a decent cam,so many options my head aches Dave,what do you think of the pic quality of the DMC-FZ70 ?

Geekanoids no I meant if I am traveling and wish to see the 4k video on a non 4k laptop or TV them do I need to process the video using software on a Computer before i can view it or can the camera produce a 1080p video from the 4k video without needing a computer.
Geekanoids also there are other uploads from 1st Aug by others which shows the noise produced in videos by the camera. How good are Park cameras for returns as no way I am paying so much for a camera if all videos have that noise problem using internal microphone. I don't want to be forced to use a bulky extremal microphone for an expensive camera that I will buy mainly for the video feature
