Still $2,197 at B&H Photo. I'm glad I got a $975 trade in on my GH6 plus the extra $500 trade in bonus from Lumix back in Feb. It paid for a big chunk of the G9II.

Yeah I noticed B&H don't seem to have moved the priced at all and they seem to have it in stock. The trade bonus really makes that worth it. I would want to keep my GH6 though and trade my GH5, I don't think I will be getting much for that in todays market though 🫤

I pre-ordered my first GH6, but I got the second one with a local business grant, which ended up costing around £850. Now I see them being sold used for that price, but I don't think I'll ever want to pay full price for any camera again, especially not a Lumix camera. If there's a trade-in option, I would consider replacing the BGH1 with a GH7. I think Panasonic would need to offer a decent trade-in to boost the GH7's popularity.

They are generally fairly quiet on the sales figures for the cameras but I guess the price will be a good indicator of how sales are going. It looks like they are only making them in small numbers so I don't think they are expecting a huge demand for them. The GH6 just came along at the right time for me to upgrade from my GH5 and I had jobs booked in to cover the cost. This time around I am not in that position so I can quite happily wait.

@@stevelitton Yeah, I think that's going to be their biggest issue. Besides GH5 shooters who didn't upgrade to the GH6 or G9mii, everyone else can hold off.

Oh yeah, I see it in the box details now. I find it so bizarre that only certain cameras come with it when they all use the same battery 🤷‍♂️

I don't get Panasonic pricing and why they seem like they control prices. BH is still high as the other commentator says. I got it for $1250 June 2023. Best Buy had it for dirt cheap with the kit lens, but on its own it's more?? Bizarre.

Thats a great deal for back then, I haven't really seen them drop below £1400 from a reputable dealer here until recently. I have heard people saying that Best Buy and Amazon have had incredibly cheap ones on sale, some of them 'open box' versions but essentially unused.

@@stevelitton Currently, I have 2 GH5, 3 GH5S, 1 GH6, 1 S5ii. I wouldn’t mind an extra GH6. I do a lot of multicam shoots and interviews. I was hoping for the BGH1 and BS1H cameras to drop in price.

@@harlemwoodstudios Wow, thats a great roster of cameras. Who knows, they may do, they are fairly unique in the Lumix lineup though I guess so the price isn't affected in the same way but they may get a refresh at some point.

That is roughly what I am seeing for the GH5 used with the used GH6 cameras being that little bit more. But this pricing change for the new cameras has shifted them down a little. It's good for people looking for those older-generation cameras.

@@stevelitton I am torn to buy that used GH6 or wait till black friday 2024 for an more affordable new GH7...I switch progressively since 2022 to Lumix FF but have still GH5,5s and MFT lenses and in multicam live prod setup but using less and less GH5, the 5s with Ninja V and prores raw is holding thanks to 2500 base iso but you can see that GH5 IQ it is not holding with my S5org,P4K,6K harder to grade and match specially in low light situations...and the market is kind of slow for me this summer...which is good and bad...but the GH7 is a hard peace of cake for GH6 users if they want to sell their cameras they probably loose over night 1/4 of the value they would have sold it...

I guess it depends if you need those newer features like 32-bit float, internal RAW and PDAF. I would imagine they will drop the GH7 price slightly for Black Friday. Yeah its a crazy market, the GH5 doesn't sell for much less than the GH6 used and that is purely down to online reputation.

Considering the speed at which Panasonic releases new cameras, I think in 1 maximum 2 years the GH8 or GH7s will be released. Therefore, there is no point in buying the GH7. It's better to buy GH6 now. As for GH7, it will be bought by those who know why they need those additions that are not in GH6.

Only if you use AF lenses though. A lot of people who shoot with the GH6 use cine lenses or adapted lenses that still won't work with PDAF. Besides, if you use Lumix lens, the AF on the GH6 isn't too bad. The people who complain that the GH6 AF is bad with still struggle with PDAF if they don't actually use the AF features in the camera. I don't think Panasonic will maintain this schedule of releases though, I think it's just to start afresh with all PDAF cameras and then back to longer release cycles.

@@lnuponom2678 A lot of people just use full area AF and assume the camera will do everything for them. But in reality if you don't tell the camera what you actually want to focus on then it's not going to do what you want it to.
