I was hoping for a built in ND filter, dust proof case since many had issues with dust in the sensor, and a built in flash. The additional resolution is a good thing, 17 MP, but since the lens is identical, I'm hoping there is an updated processor to improve the image quality.
I own the original LX100 and love it (it's my hiking camera). The problem with those cameras is dust will eventually find it's way inside and then you have dust spot all over your pictures... not so bad while taking pictures (you could remove them in photoshop) but makes videos unusable.
Every lx100 enthusiast was waiting for a fully articulated screen, I'm amazed they have left it off! love my little lx100, these cameras are beautiful for low light video and even time lapse of the stars, but they kept the same fixed screen...why? Is the body stabilised in any way now? thanks for review anyway, nice one :) Tim
@@DarrylCarey I know it's a bit late question, but, can you control the camera over Wifi? So, if it's must, you can use your mobile as an external screen?, cheers
hi there! Can you please advise if you’re also hearing a rather loud sound coming from the lx100 m2’s interior gearing? I searched online and found others reported this being a common thing from the older lx100 m1 camera, but my Leica dlux cameras never had this issue, including my dlux 109, so I’m more than a little annoyed by this as it’s rather loud and very distracting. If this is in fact just a normal reality of the lx100 models, than I’ll happily pay the extra money for the Leica dlux 7 is it means not having to hear that distraction while shooting. Please advise. Thank you!
Dust- I have first gen and had it taken apart twice for £100 a pop. Now the third time I went out and bought a Fuji XT-20. LX is a great camera and I really enjoyed it but boy Fuji!
dear Sir .. tQ for the review. my only comment is - seeing all the fotos that u have taken, you are just too good a photographer, too professional a photographer - all compositions are superb - i think even a budget camera in your hands would still produce masterpieces Sir, let alone something like the LX100. my point is: i was distracted by your superb pictures that i forgot that u were reviewing the LX100 mkII .. my sincerest apologies if my comments made no sense..
I must be a dinosaur because I don't like flip out screens or touch screens. I bought the original LX100 because its so retro. Plus its a fantastic camera.
I watched some reviews about this camera and I think its 4K video recording is too shaky. Is the stabilizer that bad? If yes, lame for its price range.
@@DarrylCarey - Maybe approach Superdry, it's worth a shot. If nothing happens, you're still in the same position you are now. If it does, you might score some new tops and jackets!
As much as I like this camera, it feels like this genre of camera is destroyed by cellphones. Unless you pixel peep, the Pixel 2 \ Pixel 3 will be just as good if not better. It's just the small tiny zoom that gives this camera a little leverage but the next line of phone already include ~5X optical zoom so that leverage is temporary. Cell phones are also water and dust proof, and we know how bad the LX100 M1 was in that regard. I'm not saying it is not better than a phone, I'm just saying that in normal viewing size, most won't see the difference. It's a war about zoom now.
I don't understand the appeal of this camera. If you want a Micro Four Thirds camera with a compact lens, just mount a pancake lens to it. There are even power zoom lenses in the Micro Four Thirds system. And then if, by chance, you want the flexibility to mount different lenses, you can do that. But not with this camera. This camera offers you no room to grow without much in the way of a price or size advantage. Is changing lenses really that difficult? Just to put this in perspective, you can get a new OM-D E-M10 Mark III with the power zoom lens for $599.99 right now on GetOlympus. It shoots 4K video, and with the cost savings over this camera, you can buy another lens or two.
Daniel Dougan if you haven’t continuously used it as I have mine, I carry mine everywhere with me, with its big lens you almost never have to use flash, and most importantly it never disappoints. Also if you shoot in Raw you can export a jpeg with any changes in camera and now with post focus, what’s not to like, some of the features found on this camera are just not available in popular camera, it is so underrated.
