That little white circle is called the mode switch and it has timing so be careful to keep it as is and also needs cleaning of its contacts pins inside .
VCR aren't too hard to work on. If there is no visible broken pieces, 90% of problem are easily solved by replacing the belt, cleaning the dry grease and reapplying some new, cleaning the video heads on the drum, cleaning the switch mode and the multiple sensors. That is my go to before even putting a tape in, because with their age, I know that there is a big chance the tape will be eaten. Also those mid range quality VCR, PCB are a pain to work on if you need to change capacitors as they are so easily damageable by heat. Though great video.
Thanks for the video;are you experts on old VCR?; i have an old VCR Sony SLV N60 and I'm trying to use the vcr as a RF converter to send video from a streaming box via HDMI to an HDMI to RCA converter to RF coaxial to the hole Apt ,i was able to make the set up and connection ,i connected RCA cables to VCR input line 1 but in order to see video from the streaming box i have to put a tape in the vcr and press play and i can stop play and video stays on. I have to do this process every time i turn on VCR .Any clues why? thanks
Unless you have a batch of TVs that take analog TV video and sound (all three red, white, yellow) or coaxial cable input jacks there will be no TVs able to play a working VHS player. I have the silver case Panasonic of this same model that works if you have an analog signal TV able to receive the VHS analog output. I have the no more than one working analog old TV and disabled or salvaged once has analog TVs. I think we'll have to work with DVD and Blue Ray player technologies; and, VHS should have been converted or upscaled into digital format by now. Analog VHS players are as distinct as the analog TVs existing where both are working today without repair needs.
I can tell you this people like myself use to record movies from internet and putting them on vhs tapes and what they look like on the internet is the same thing what is on the vhs tape my vhs tapes are 6h long everything was done with SLP on the VCR player everything proven what internet does goes on the vhs tape itself if it locks up it goes on to the vhs tape itself and vhs tapes don't lock up at all like internet does
