Panasonic TX-55FZ800E (FZ800E) 4K Ultra HD OLED TV review. This is my full test of Panasonic's most affordable 2018 OLED TV in 55-inch (140 cm) screen size. The same model is available in 65" (165 cm) as well (TX-65FZ800E).

Still using my Panasonic g20 plasma. From what I've seen so far the Panasonic oleds produce the most natural and realistic colors. Can't wait to eventually upgrade.

I was about to purchase LG C8 but after picture quality comparison with Panasonic FZ800, I chose Panasonic. I think it handles motion better. Also it has more accurate colors right out of the box. But of course, there are some downsides of FZ800 - worse OS (less fluid, less intuitive & lacking some of the smart apps, especially HBO GO), worse remote control (uglier & lacking on-screen motion cursor ability and microphone for sound commands), lack of Dolby Vision and fixed power cable. Nevertheless, I am happy with my choice. Panasonic perfectly handles UHD movies from my Sony X800 4K BluRay player. The picture is truly amazing and superb quality! I can really recommend this TV to everyone.

drzefkovitsh would you recommend the FZ800 over the 2019 LG C9? Main usage would be Netflix and movies, followed by a little bit of gaming. Thanks in advance

Great review as always, Darko! I'm still using an old 42-inch Panasonic Plasma from 2009. This year I finally want to upgrade and buy this TV! I'm glad I live in Germany so I can get the fancier metal remote ;) I game on my TV a lot, so I wanted to ask you if you think I'll notice a difference in gaming performance between the plasma and the OLED? 21ms is very low input lag, however I don't know how sensitive I am to this. From what I understand, plasmas handle motion quite differently than OLEDs and LCDs and from what I've heard, plasmas do it better. Do you think I will have a worse gaming experience with an OLED or not?

After the horrible fx750 IPS Panel crap in 65 inch I got this dream tv. Natural colors amazing black level and is bright enough.

Same, i had the FX 750 65". It looks really nice, but at night the backlight bleeding coming trough was a joke. I've got the FZ802 now, and i am glad i did, no daft backlight and great blacks.

Pozdrav - refleksije su istog intenziteta - polu sjajni panel je u oba slucaja. B7 vjerojatno cu dobiti u rujnu.

Pozdrav majstore. Imam ponudu za ovaj tv 9300kn sa 5g garancije, a 8300 sa 2g garancije. Lg oled55c8 za 10tkn sa 2g garancije (vjerojatno ce bit boljih ponuda u narednom periodu) Pa šta se tebi cini? Maxtv je u pitanju za gledanje sporta (sk i arene hd kanali)

Koji god da odaberete nećete požaliti - predložio bih da prije odluke pogledate sučelje Panasonica i usporedite ga s LG-jevim OLED-ima u toj klasi (OLED55B8 je iste ili čak i malo niže cijene, a po kvaliteti slike praktički isti kao i skuplji C8). Man, I was so waiting for Panasonic to produce OLEDS. I still have a ZT60 upstairs. Unfortunately, in the meantime I setup a 150in projection screen with the Sony HW45ES. Now, I just can't go back to TVs. I know I'm missing the black levels and contrast ratio of OLEDs but I think it's going to be 4K laser projectors for me next.

I hear that settings are shared between Sdr and HDR. If I'm playing an SDR game, and then change to a HDR game will it automatically switch from a picture mode I've tweaked for SDR, directly to a picture mode I've set for HDR? Or would I have to manually switch between the two? Thanks

Hi Darko, I have a doubt about which is the best OLED to buy. Consider my usage is at 99% gaming. I want to buy a LG C8 55". You suggest me another one always thinking my choose is based ONLY for gaming? P.S. In Oled TV, which is your opinion for burn in problem? I'm a little worried about game's HUD...

Hi! Definitely an interesting question. I would not advise buying an OLED TV for the sole purpose of gaming, despite all the advances OLED TVs have to alleviate burn-in issues. The reason is, as you've mentioned, HUD in games that will be constantly on the same position and will wear out pixels quicker. Same happens if you watch same live TV channels with fixed lower thirds / logos on the screen. If you play many different games and if those games have semi-transparent HUD then this could be okay, but still, I would advise switching to live TV or other full-screen content after gaming so that all pixels refresh themselves. So think about which games you will play (modern ones that are more OLED-friendly or legacy ones like Starcraft/Warcraft with fixed HUD) and decide if getting and LED LCD makes more sense despite worse picture quality.

TV Calibration with Darko My prefered games are single player based, with story line and a conclusion. Then i change to another one, and so on. But even in this category, there are games than can be played for dozen, hundred hours. Like Skyrim, the Witcher, you know. My concerns are for this big and very long games. I think, when the burn in problem start to be a problem? After how many hours in the same content? You tell me than if i change my usage, like whatching a movie or other, the risk will reduce. Ok. But for example: if i playing a big gdr, then a day whatching movie, tomorrow i continue my game, than whatching video on RU-vid and so on until i finished the game, pixels "memorize" the usage in the hud place or they refresh completely every time i watching other Channel, movie, anime, videos ecc? Because i've read that Burn-in problem is a isse than come out after long time.

If you will play games like Skyrim/Witcher etc. one day and then turn off the TV and watch movies/RU-vid next day and then on the third day you come back to gaming, then I do not see an issue. Because TV is performing compensation cycles when you turn it off (when it is in standby) to even the pixels out. Still, I would advise that first 200 hours you watch full screen content as much as you can and have TV in Cinema/Technicolor/Expert presets so that pixels condition themselves nicely and then you can start with playing games.

Ok, undestand. Last question. I want buy your picture settings on Payhip.com. My first idea was to buy all calibration tool, software ecc... but i'm not really expert to do it, and equipments are very expensive to the end. Your configurations in PDF is near to reach a image quality like calibration? More or less? How it works? There are some tips for a configuration "gaming friendly"?

I'm jealous so this Panasonic OLED comes with two remotes? I hate the one remote that came with my Samsung TV and I can't find a compatible universal remote.

This model has one remote but you can get One Touch separately. You should be able to get standard Samsung replacement remote - it should have IR received on the bottom bezel somewhere.

The TV set looks so cheaply made compared to the likes of LG, with PQ so close between the OLED's you have to go with the LG IMO.

Yes, I agree that the backside plastic is poorly chosen, but the build quality is actually better than competitors. Especially the stand design that is really heavy and holds the TV firmly.
