A series of tests with the Panasonic UX180 compared to tiny sensor HDV camcorders, as well as Super35/APSc camcorders and Micro 4/3 for focus tracking, depth of field comparisons, image stabilization and zoom range.

Having trouble with my audio when I put it onto my Mac. Using a shotgun Senel mc24-el. Getting lots of noise/hissing. Would it be a bad Xlr cable? Settings off? Seems to be happening also when I’m just using the built in microphone. Could it be my Mac that I’m putting the footage onto?? I’ve tried many different things and I keep getting the unwanted noise. Would appreciate any help, Thank you.

There is even some noise when I don’t use any mic at all(internal mic included) that’s why I’m wondering if it’s maybe my Mac. Or is it just something I will have to deal with and fix in post?

Does the UX180 have face recognition? If so did you use it?

When you were recording your kid with the ux180, it would have kept him in focus if you turned on macro. That's what I found with the camera when closed into a subject.

I would like to use the UX180 to get a bokeh effect on backgrounds when shooting interviews. Sometimes I use a prompter so on those occasions the camera would be just a few feet away from the subject. What settings (f-stop/iris, shutter, distance from subject, zoom, ND filter, etc.) do you recommend to hustle as much bokeh as possible?

Not good auto focus tracking on the Panasonic ux180, very disappointing . The new Nikon Z9 is awesome in focus tracking.

Wow! The UX180 really SUCKED in the OIS test. I was about ready to buy it. I'm glad I saw this first!

You're missing out, then. As with all online reviews, I wouldn’t base your opinions on one single review. I have a HC-X1 (identical to the UX180 except for no SDI 4k and Timecode BNCs) and I'm so very glad I purchased it. Far from the IOS "sucking", it's perfectly respectable, and something not pointed out here, actually configurable depending on whether you want to iron out small or large physical camera movements. Furthermore, the split screen showing the 1” sensor of the UX180 4K and the M43 Full Sensor, it (curiously) appears that the UX180 had the sharper picture.

Yeah.....the UX 180 review by IEBA stated this is a GREAT camcorder....Unless you're rich Michael, I'd buy the UX 180 and stop man.

Need HELP! I've bought the UX180 and was surprised how bad the AF is... I'm shooting a person and the camera is focused on threes behind them. Same as on this review. Can you explain me please how to configure the OIS to make it smarter and keep focusing on the person, not on the background? I need an automatic focus mode only, not a manual... Thanks
