I just returned from holiday a holiday in which I only brought my new Panasonic Lumix Zs200 and a gopro. I wanted to show you guys some 100% crops from real world photos and some 4k footage (screen captured in 1080). I only have good things to say about this camera. It had more than enough features, zoom and a competent AF system that made grabbing memories easy and fun. I highly recommend this light weight travel camera.

Thanks for sharing! Important to realize/remember that without that zoom we aren’t even seeing these shots. Not even with a smartphone in 2023! There are smartphones that claim some fantastic zooming, but those are really expensive (Samsung S23 Ultra), and tricky/frustrating using the zoom feature to lock onto a subject. With the zs200’s 15x zoom you could’ve been some 20 feet away and it looks like you are right in the dancer’s face based on what the photos look like. Great for capturing the moment, preserving memories, and unobtrusively getting out of the way.

Проблема у этого панасоника - низкий динамический диапазон, чуть много света и сразу засветы на фото, чуть мало света и сразу шумы и смазы.

Thank you so much for posting this video, I have read some reviews that this camera does not perform well in low light but this video helped me confirm my decision to go with Zs200. My wife and I are going to Europe for 20 days and want to just carry everything we need for 20 days on our back which means my beloved Nikon D7000 stays home.

Mark, You will miss your pro gear...LOL..its in our blood. However this unit will solve your issues while backpacking and I am completely happy with the results I got on my last vacation. Its always a compromise. Size vs quality. So as long as you understand you're not getting A7r3 quality, you will end up with great photos that are still 20mpx...

I have the Leica C-lux (almost the same) and it is amazing! I use Pentax DSRLs, and for being light I carry my Leica C-lux and a Ricoh GRii. I love street photography.

Thank you for this video. I have the LX10 which is a video beast. Of course that has a limited zoom and that is why Im here because I want to supplement the LX10 zoom range. Also, my wife refuses to bring her Canon 100D which is already small, when we are on vacation because of her IphoneX but that one lacks a proper zoom. So this ZS200 should be good on her while I have the LX10 on my Zhiyun crane-M. Thanks again for this video.

Gary, just want to say how really helpful the two videos you've done on the ZS200 have been for me, much more useful information then any other reviews I read or seen. But I have a question (not sure if you or anyone can help with this or not). I am trying to decide between getting the ZS200 of the Lumix ZS80. The reason I haven't pulled the trigger on this ZS200 (yet!) is because of the longer zoom on the ZS80, out to (720mm vs the ZS200's 360mm). The question I have is, since the ZS200 has a 1 inch sensor vs the ZS80's 1/2 3" sensor, would zooming out to (say) 600mm using the Extra Optical Zoom feature (DIGITAL) on the ZS200 give photos better, as good, or close to being as good, in detail, as the smaller sensor ZS80 at its 600mm OPTICAL zoom length?
@fritz9880
@fritz9880 4 года назад
The difference between 360mm and 720mm sounds like a lot, but the apparent optical increase is only about 30%, not 100%. To get that paltry 30% increase, the aperture will close down and defraction will spoil your image. Taking a photo at 360mm on an 1-inch sensor and then enlarging it to 720mm will give you a better image than the 720mm image on the smaller sensor camera. You're correct to avoid digital zoom. Go with a 1-inch sensor camera for all-around better results. And don't forget to check out the Sony 1-inch series RX100 cameras for comparison.

Keni, what did you settle on finally? I have same question as you...

@@SebAnt Hi Sebastian, sorry for the delay in replying. I did decide on the ZS80 for couple of reasons. First and foremost, the zoom. I wanted a compact camera with a good zoom for birding. Not a real camera buff and didn't want to get into carrying around a full bodied camera and lenses (maybe one day). So that also meant no bridge cameras. I'm glad I went with the ZS80, because it has enhanced zoom to 1440 and I find a I spend a lot of time zoomed to 1200-1440. I'm either all the way zoomed in to that or between 24 & 400. I don't take a lot of shots around 720, which the ZS200 zooms to with enhanced zoom. The cost was another reason, a couple of hundred less. Third, the ZS80, from what I've seen is ready to shoot much faster then the ZS200. My camera takes about 1.5 seconds, one review said the ZS200 took around 4-5 seconds (not sure if that's accurate). Overall, I'm very happy with the camera, zoomed out to 1440 I can get a very distant birds to fill the frame and if the light is good, I can get a pretty decent shot. You not going to frame any of them, but good enough for Birding pages on Facebook. One thing, image quality drops fast with any kind of low light scenario, any level of shade, even on a bright day, really hurts the image. But I'm happy with it, and don't feel any need to get something else until I do decide at some point to get deeper into photography. I got mine through Adorama website, they had a really good bundle (they still might), so make sure to check that out, for either of the ZS models. The camera doesn't get heavily discounted, that I can see, so make sure to check any bundle deals. If you are on Facebook, my page is 'public' so you can see a lot of my photos there. Look up 'Keni Miller' on there if you like. If you have any other questions, please ask.

Thank you for the video! I plan to buy this camera to stream lectures in my iniversity via HDMI output. I've read that there is a limit in recording time, but I don't need to record on camera. What I am worried is heating issues while 5 hours streams and possible turning off when no action done on camera for a while. I also want to focus on the blackboard, not on the face of lecturer. My alternative is sony rx100mark7, but it is really expensive, so I want to figure out if zs200 can fulfil my expectations...

I forgot to ask the question that was on my mind when I posted just a moment ago, Does the battery last as long as advertised, wondering if I will need two extra batteries (three total) of just on extra (2 total)
@GaryReedUnfrequentedWorld
@GaryReedUnfrequentedWorld 5 лет назад
The battery is very good. But I reccomend something like this. If you're traveling a lot you want to have a spare or two. Here is a link to what I bought. These worked very well as long as the original battery. Very good price too. amzn.to/2DhufwM

Gary Reed Unfrequented World thank you for the information, I did think of one last question, I know this camera does not have gps but does the menu on the camera allow you to input location, or will I just have to wait until post production?
