While discussing Hit Man:
Abbas: I was never bored for a second.
Rajyasree: This was fun especially compared to another Glen Powell movie I saw.
Abbas: Which one?
Rajyasree: It had Sydney Sweeney in it.
Abbas: Anyone But You.
Rajyasree: Yeah, you feel like shooting him and Sydney and then yourself also.
This and a whole lot of awful and awesome as Rajyasree Sen and Abbas Momin discuss the TVF show Panchayat Season 3, the mini series Eric and the film Hit Man.

You guys are so privileged to review panchayat please stop reviewing shows.

Seems Panchayats background is completely unrelatable to you. You are disconnected from the village life. Too urban to review panchayat. Also, you people are unaware of the minute details of the story.

Yep.. I watched this review series only because I've seen this criticism on her on the likes of you.. And she even got basic details like seasons wrong, and even the plot _synopsis_ wrong - at least Mr Abbas tried to make sense.

@@saahilsakordekar8144 Nah it's called half assing a review. Reviewing media without actually watching it has been the MO for Shree and Abhi for years now. Now Abbas is doing the same. I would like Abhinandan's meltdown to critique of his team produced articles by just reading 1 paragraph.

It's not fair to review something that you guys have not watched properly. Neena Gupta is the sarpanch not wife of sarpanch or mukhiya. You are not only doing a bad review of a good show but your review itself needs a critical review. Don't spoil your name, DON'T DO IT

That is how death comes in an army family Abbas. There is more often no set up! The fact that a certain way of life was completely shaken out of the blue was the whole purpose of that incident. A very bad take from Abbas I feel.
@saahilsakordekar8144
@saahilsakordekar8144 8 дней назад
The purpose of shows is also to show a shocking incident out of nowhere, so that the series can be extended for season after season and the makers can rake in the moolah. So, using the an army death for your commercial benefit and manipulating the audience is the real bad take, no?😉
@abhikghosh89
@abhikghosh89 8 дней назад
@@saahilsakordekar8144 so just to get you, are we blaming capitalism here? Because if we are, that’s a larger conversation and a futile one at that. My objection was with “no set up” for a death and I feel that’s how most army deaths occur. There is no setup. If anything panchayat is one of the few series which had they ended after s1 I wouldn’t have minded. Neither do I mind them making s3.

@abbasmomin

My issue was with the fact that that incident serving as the climax to the season seemed too manipulative. Prahlad's son was not a major or even a minor character, he was probably mentioned a couple of times and mostly was off screen. So killing off that character just to eke out the tear ducts of the audience was not a good story telling move according to me. It was in no way meant to trivialise the pain or shock of the loss of a parent of someone serving in the army.
@abhikghosh89
@abhikghosh89 7 дней назад
@@abbasmomin Aaah I wish someday we could discuss this over a drink. but for now I can only try and type it out and hope it makes sense. I don't think the audience is crying because the minor character passed away. The audience is sad because a major character in the series is sad (why the major character is sad is up for debate in this case the death of his son). It could very well have been some other reason why faizal malik would have been sad and people would have felt that sadness with him. Where I agree with you is that writing a death scene was an easy way show pain, but thats alright. Whats cinema if not a little bit manipulative.

your view is very narrow and looking down upon something that isn't relatable to you. the show deserves some criticism but your view on the story and character is just your ignorance. the local politics and inequality is well shown in the show. you say the grey area isnt there, the show really makes you root for the people in power while make you root against the only person who is anti establishment. the politics of house allotment is so on point. maybe its just not for you, like french art films are not for everyone.
@oldmonkjarvis
@oldmonkjarvis 9 дней назад
I love NL discussions and the has it aged well, but Abbas, who usually has a very interesting take on a lot of stuff, is sometimes dismisses a lot of good stuff just because he doesn't find it relatable. i mean just be a little open minded, it might be a good representation of reality even though it may seem very unreal to you.
@abbasmomin
@abbasmomin 7 дней назад
I approach everything with an open mind. And yes relatability ranks very high on my priority list. I never said whatever is portrayed in Panchayat doesn't happen in villages. My point was that the show is becoming a one trick pony. At the same time a good show regardless of wherever it is set should be appealing to audiences of various backgrounds. In this podcast itself I've mentioned that I really like Gullak, another TVF show set in a small town which I find much more relatable than Panchayat.
@oldmonkjarvis
@oldmonkjarvis 7 дней назад
@@abbasmomin my comment came only after listening to two of your contradictory views, one being that it was supposed to be a comedy show and now they’ve lost track and another being that it’s not doing anything new) and your view on Gullak. I for one agree with your view on the ending of season two it came out of nowhere. But they did try something new in this part. Also, I agree that gullak is far more relatable but Panchayat does show a side of village that is fresh and was only limited to Hindi books who no one reads unless it’s part of the curriculum. A show doesn’t always have to be appealing (the appeal would definitely make it more sellable), it can be a little revealing too.
@maazkalim
@maazkalim День назад
Where did you get the impression that it's supposed to be your paint-by-numbers/run-of-the-mill sitcom, Mr @@abbasmomin? Frankly.. It betrays your implication that you were ever really invested in the series to begin with, as I for myself didn't find the series to be funny.. Just a mostly docudrama-style but fictionalised( read authentic) depiction of a heartland village even at the cost of oh-so-ingenious caricatures/stereotypes which would make it LOL hilarious for all those who learn about villages from the likes of `Comedy Circus`, `The Kapil Sharma Show` & Saas-Bahu soap-operas( "daily soaps"). And the repeat conflation of sociocultural context of `Panchayat` with `Gullak` belies your, pardon my Esperanto, elite snobbery. It's like saying a series set in Jewar is worse than a show set in Indirapuram and it is perfectly sensible to make this comparison because `you know what, both societies fall under the NCR!` I'd wager the S1E3 of `Panchayat` shows well what kind of dramedy( yeah, not a sitcom) it is even though mostly its humour personally doesn't appeal to me - so I'm referring to the feedback of broad-audiences.( 'Coincidentally', it's also the one-&-only episode where its director makes a cameo( "Co-Starring" appearance) as an unnamed character.)

If you think you got a ‘bad’ ‘email’ for ‘Manjummel Boys’, wait for an ‘email’ of your ‘REVIEW’ on ‘Panchayat 3’. 😂😂 Abbas based his whole review on just 2 episodes. He didn’t even wait to watch the last one. It’s a good thing no one is actually paying to watch this show. Actually pleasantly surprised to hear an unbiased pointers from ‘Rajshri’

Completely disagree with your review on panchayat, the story was incredibly interesting and captivating I'm very choosy on what movies or shows I watch and in those too I like those which have more realism, logic and some believability to them, that is why I don't like most of the things coming out of bollywood yet I really loved panchayat the story is well going and very entertaining, it really shows how the life goes in small villages, tells the story how politics in small villages takes place how politicians abuse their power. You two are from urban background and don't know much about villages maybe that's why this review but if you don't know then don't comment on it.

Paying subscribers, myself included, expect a modicum of quality. Instead, we are treated to a spectacle where accuracy is sacrificed at the altar of Rajyasree's misguided confidence. Her laughter, an unfortunate reflex upon being corrected, echoes through episodes like a misplaced laugh track. Listening to Rajyasree Sen expound on the podcast, one can't help but marvel at the remarkable consistency of her intellectual limitations. The show ostensibly offers critiques of cinema and television, yet Rajyasree's contributions often resemble a comedic performance in themselves-albeit unintentionally. Her thick skin isn't a shield of resilience but rather a thinly veiled attempt to mask her palpable lack of depth and insight. Her critiques, more often than not, miss the mark by a wide margin, revealing a penchant for superficiality that undermines the podcast's credibility. Her erstwhile co-host, Abhinandan Sekhri, deserves credit for his commendable restraint. Though admittedly not always abreast of the content under review, he maintains integrity by acknowledging his limitations. His insights, though provocative, at least stem from a foundation of factual accuracy-a stark contrast to Rajyasree's freewheeling inaccuracies and frequent blunders. It’s doubtful Rajyasree Sen will ever acknowledge observations such as this with the seriousness they deserve. If she does, one can only expect her trademark laughter to obscure any genuine reflection on her part. For those seeking genuine critique amid the show's spectacle, "Awful and Awesome" too often delivers on the former, leaving one to ponder whether the "awful" in its title isn't a fitting tribute to Rajyasree's inadvertent role.

The least expectation from a movie/series reviewer is that they watch the movie and series. One has skipped season 2, and the other hasn't watched all the episodes of Panchayat. It's like me watching this video and only on the basis of this video saying Newslaundry is a crappy uninformed and pretentious channel. Which is not true at all. I really love news laundry. The death of Rahul was extremely emotional and not at all manipulative.
