The nurse is helping the baby use the bathroom. He or she cannot use the toilet yet because the baby's organs are not completely formed. The mama panda would lick her baby's bum to accomplish this (Mother Of The Year!) but doctors and nurses can use napkins. Thank God! (The process is called ventral stimulation.)
Omg, baby panda, SO ADORABLE!!! Fluffy! xD I wanna own one and cuddle it! x333 Even the fact that he needs someone to stimulate him to pee is cute, just like little kids~ x]
Thanks, Colinabuck, for telling me about this. Why can't the little panda just"wee"on his own? I guess they know what they're doing, even if it may seem a bit odd to us. Anyway, the panda is the sweetest creature. Thanks for sharing him with us!
@paintedsoul: This is not molester. This is helping with panda's bowel movement. When panda gets constipated, it helps. Laxative doesn't work in Panda, but human being.
Like newborn kittens and puppies, the panda cub does not yet have internal muscle tone strong enough to empty its own bladder or bowels. Cubs are dependent on mom to regularly stimulate to avoid blockage and discomfort, as seen in RU-vid videos of newborn critters. Mom does NOT jab stomach like a machine gun; lady's rushing what can't be rushed. Cub's staring at her like "What's up with the poking, crazy lady?" Best way is soft moist tissue in gentle circular motion around anus.
Thats why the cub mortality rate is high. Not just from the loss of habitate, but Pandas arn't that great of parents you know. Anyways these baby cubs are enjoying these treatment so no harm done when they do actually live in park.
@COLINABUCK i wasnt complaining abt the staffs. i was sure there's a reason behind. but without the explanation in the video description, i wouldnt' know. but thanks for explaining.
Hi Wolong is now closed due to the eartquake in may. The pandas have now been moved to a new location you can vist this new location as for oranising a trip it depends on what country you live in. Hope imformation is a help to you
I hand raised puppies who had no mom and you have to do this for them, too, to stimulate that area so they will learn to poop. But with puppies, you stroke with a wet tissue..you don't tap. I assume the Chinese know all there is to know about this, and I assume all the pleased sounds meant they were getting results with this method. Regardless, the baby P is precious!!!!!
What is she dabbing on the little panda? Is he sore or ill? Poor little sweetheart! Is the cotton ball something to clean him up after he "made"? Please let me know.Thanks. This is really cute.
