Looking at the car the biggest problem with the supra styling is the plastic front bumper/cowling. Seems like an aftermarket company could make a body kit and make it look awesome.
I loved hearing him nerd out on the way the paint was sprayed to look perfect, I love that attention to detail. This is a beautiful car and a well balanced build!!! Keep em comin Larry!!
He sounds like some people I know who are addicted to stimulants. Not a bad thing. People who are truly passionate about something trigger the same receptors in the brain.
So can we get a montage once a month. Like a monthly recap of the cars Larry featured. Style it in the theme of the outro video???? That would be sick.
Unfortunate we're entering the wide body era :/ lol..these cars are looking like spaceships ..reminds me of the bikers putting 30' front wheels lol..weird trends
This video is 3 years old and this Supra is the best looking Supra I've seen so far. That silver color on that car blows away any silver car I've seen and it really accentuates that car. This video was awesome and how can it not be with Bob Ross making a cameo appearance.
This A90 is really impressive. From the moment I personally found out that a new supra, produced by both Toyota and BMW, was being made, I was All in. It's an actual fact that Toyota, did in fact, make the car with the enthusiast in mind. That's why theres all the specifically placed aero vents. Yes Toyota could have made them all functional, but the extra cost would effect the price. Every production vehicle is built with a pre-determined price point. A lot of ppl think they jus carelessly made all the vents fake. It jus verifies this even more hearing the owner talk about specific places where aftermarket parts would be functional, an its noticable. Awesome...awesome build.
Awesome!! Met Daniel at SEMA last year and had a chance to talk to him about this Supra. Best Supra at SEMA 2019. Awesome to also see Larry owning one of these.
The intro music takes me back to Midnight Club 2, I really wish you would credit the music in all Hoonigan videos because its often so great. The outro is also amazing, I want to know what it is!
Awesome car and obviously a high quality build, but, as an automotive engineer myself, I can’t help feeling that the elephant in the room with this type of build is the massive spacers used to move the wheels out. I mean, it’s clearly meant to look like a race car, and it sure does, but a race car would have custom built suspension parts to support the wider track. These spacers must really mess up the suspension geometry? Increase scrub radius etc.
We need more of this guy! Make him ur co pilot from now on. Love how he talks and how much he knows. Def a good guy. I love his Supra but I like him better. Right on 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
6:47 that strut brace mount from day 1 sounded like just marketing to me, they never "engineered" it for the tuners, it was convenient and they just went with it, the Z4 came with the braces from factory (Toyota's excuse was the Z4 is a convertible and it needed the extra bracing and Supra doesn't). Also the new 2021 Supra now comes with the braces from factory... Toyota meant to keep upgrading the Supra each year, so the first year 2020 it was sort of "bare bone" so they have room to add stuff and tweak stuff for next year and make it more appealing, induce buyer's remorse for potential trade in. Bet you when sales start to drop, they'll put in the manual that's available for the Z4 overseas in, just to boost sales back up, then do a face lift after sales start dropping again.
yes! this annoyed me so much. it was such an odd sounding thing to say they engineered in random bits like removeable vents that would be functional. why go to all that effort and not just you know actually save money and not include the bit of plastic to blank it off and have a real functional vent. the missing strut brace was so obvious for anyone who had seen a Z4 engine bay. even without the dimples or whatever they are talking about, it is not exactly hard for a tuning company to design a big bit of metal to bolt between the two strut towers like they already been doing for the last 30+ years. hardly needed toyota engineers (well BMW really) to add in that dimple for it to be possible. it was all clearly just marketing rubbish to try and generate hype around the new supra. the amount of effort they put into marketing it before release in the press, on youtube and social media is so blatant. it is a nice car but toyota tried way to hard to make it seem like it was going to be some sort of second coming of jesus 90s JDM nostaglia blast from the past rather than than a reskinned Z4 (does look a lot better than a Z4 though)...... oh god and the bit where he implies toyota would do the opposite to most manufacturers and honour the warranty of a highly modified brand new car. i don't see him rolling into his local toyota dealership for a warranty claim with the car looking like that and getting it approved...
@@TheRZBM THANK YOU! Toyota will deny anything that's been touched, like every other manufacturer. "Let's say" the car's made to be modified, much like the 86, Toyota doesn't care! you modified it, so you broke it, you gotta pay. Kinda smart and saves them money to be honest. I bet even BMW's rolling their eyes at the BS marketing Toyota's coming up with. The blocked vents do make sense though, it is possible to have "too much" cooling, though don't know how true it is on the Supra. Focus RS for example, the inter-cooler actually has a piece of plastic stuck on the end of it to block off air cuz it was cooling too much causing condensation. but that was just poor engineering and a "fix" after production.
@@gwot i think with the vents was probably just one of the many small things they tried adding to make it look different to a Z4. feels like the story about them being removable for extra cooling probably just slipped out of a marketing guys mouth at an event and just spread from there with some fluff about it being useful for 'extra cooling when tuning'. its not like people have been cutting wonky holes in their cars for the last 20 years begging for manufacturers to add removeable vents to solve their cooling issues. even if the story was true it is hardly something to be excited about or applaud toyota for. pretty much all remotely sporty cars feature fake vents that can be removed and most will leave a somewhat functional hole these days i dont think it is a valid selling point.
I honestly think the z4 is a better looking car in the flesh when stock. Driven both and the outward visibility in the z4 is amazing with the roof down. Not so much with it up however. Supra has massive blind spots where the rear pillar is, trivial complaint I know but worth mentioning. I wonder if pandem will ever do a z4 widebody kit... would really upset the Supra purists. Not wrong about the marketing hype though. Didn’t see one advert for the z4. Hoping bmw are waiting to release another z4m but I guess it’s unlikely they’ll do one with a roof
BMW has always been known for over engineered for people that follow the brand, it’s only a surprise for people that have only owned Japanese cars. They noted the hood/fender component but that was made for the z3 in 95. Come on, nothing on this car is “new” or revolutionary, the only thing people see is “Supra” and hey become mindless teenagers watching their first porno. If my memory serves me right, the only thing Toyota said they engineered on this car was the suspension.
Beautiful Car Daniel & Thankyou For EXPERT INFORMATION on How to Spray Mettelac/MetalFlake Paint To Achieve Certain Results, Totally Amazing ( I Didn't Know That ). Thanks Again Larry For Another Excellent Auto Focus Shoot/Interview. God Bless All.
Daniel Song agreed sir, indeed epic. The good ol’ late 80’s era Honda BAR livery is simple yet satisfying as well! Awesome car btw. Hope you’re getting to enjoy it!
I hope that guy gets to drive his car more. It's kkinda sad to hear him talk about how he's never driven it on canyons even though he built it for that kind of driving.
This is pretty much the best Supra build I've seen for now I agree that the A90 Supra is indeed a very good project by Toyota but honestly, I have to say I don't appreciate the NC1 that much the way I like the A90, it's too heavy and rely too much on electronics, much opposite to the NA1/NA2
just 4 minutes in, wondering...the vents, we were told the "stock" vents are there so that when doing custom builds owners can open them up. looking forward to seeing real vents. AMAZING, amazing car!!!
Got yourself a subscriber. Really nice shots of influencers man. The shots look impeccable and they're really captivating almost like it sucks you in to a vortex of legendary realization and appreciation.
I love every episode you produce. However if I could add a small bit of advice. We all know it’s “another episode of Hoonigan AF” I would like you hear you change up your intro line every once in a while. Like I have said before, love all of your work. It would be a dream come true to spend a day with Larry. Even if I had to carry the camera bag... Keep doing what your doing. Your killing it.
I really dont get why people joke about a toyota being a bmw. Its so silly. The old supra engine was a legend, people always said only 6 cylinder engine to compete were bmw engines. Looks like toyota even agreed. I love this car. Just waiting till the updates every year makes it awesome enough for me to one day buy. Also check out the yaris gr. So sick
Wow! Nice build! I love that color combination with the metallic gray and teal. It just pops out. At first glance I recognized the petronas f1 appeal to it. Awesome. Nice intro btw!
