I'm a sucker for horror movies, but certainly for a certain type - a type that really gets into your head and plays with your core concepts, your core parts, rather than trying to jumpscare/gore you out. It's a very rare occasion when a new horror movie would have any effect on me worth remembering, and finding a film like Pandemonium is an absolute joy. While the author had been exploring the topic of guilt as he himself stated, the core concept that triggered within me was the inevitability. The powerlessness. Nathan doesn't get anything rather than confirmation that the sin that got him here is indeed the eutha-murderia of his wife. But there was no hearing ("no one will listen to you"), no presentation of higher power that condemned him, nothing. And the torment he was about to endure was endless and beyound horrifying - torturing his soul until it forgets the last shred of its identity and earthly life was just the FIRST stage of his torment. The movie did absolutely brilliant job of giving the viewer feeling and picture of scale by saying that this first stage will take 4000 years, and that this is a really short number compared to what's ahead. It makes you instantly picture that our earthly time is indeed very short, while life itself exists for billions of years. So 4000 years is nothing, but being constantly tortured for this duration will burn out any humanity and memories out of you, and you get the perfect feeling of scale and how the Hell works. It feels much more real than in any other description of hell I've known. And so, Nathan is about to be tortured with absolutely no chance to throw a single punch back, there's no fighting back, no defending yourself, no hope, no improvement - only constant worsening. This is such a strong feeling of inevitability the film has conjured that it made me really feel and think. The topic of inevitability continues with the mom and Chloe story. And again, I know this movie is "about guilt", but I really doubt it. Mother of Chloe was a responsible adult, she never yelled at her daughter, she tried to do her best, and we all know that hard adult life like hers can make you numb and not being able to be as perceptive as your young daughter expects you to be. So I don't see big guilt here, but I do see inevitability, which is shown through how Chloe's mom tries to fight it back. Futility of even the very idea of her attempts to turn the clock back and have a little time with her daughter is what paints inevitability of time in such vivid, palpable colours. Scale and making the abstract concept real and understandable is what this movie absolutely excels in.

I enjoyed it but I think it would have been better as a series. Like maybe in each episode we get to see the background of why each person is in hell to begin with and then each of their journeys through the different portals of damnation and then ending off with Nathan's since he is the main character and maybe expanding a bit more on his sins maybe adding more layers to it cos it seems like his having it worst than the others.😢 And then for part 2 of the series we can see how the other guy who went to hell is doing and then go deeper with the reincarnation bit that they added in there.

Pizz, if you haven't seen it yet, check out The Coffee Table. It's a Spanish film and boy is it a disturbing one. Not a feel good movie, but well acted and executed.

Im sure you have seen, but if you have not.... "Speak No Evil". Same kind of blackened comedy smothered by oppressive anxiety. "ALL the Gods in the Sky" by Quarxx is fantastic too.

It was sorta interesting in an ultra dark depressing way but then just sort of ends stupid. Also it’s one of those artsy films where not completing a story is somehow majestic film artistry

Early I thought the gates would let them in whichever they choose, but that they were going to be deceptively opposite, and that they would dispute/argue/split and each choose a different one. As in, one chose wisely and the other chose wrong and the rest of the movie followed the one in Hell. Then once the girl was tossed into Heaven, I thought Nathan would find Daniel on the other side of the gate perplexed because they’d still be on the mountain pass perplexed because nothing otherwise changed and THAT would the beginning of their journey into chaos & torment. Guess I was wrong on both counts! 😂 I think the latter could be a good plot!

This was pretty good, pretty "damn" good 😅,the realization of being in that room for 4000 years was scary enough, but then a demon appears claiming your a toy to play with😮 terrifying,the reincarnation and anti-christ part confused me though

Watch Quarxx other movie....All the Gods in the Sky. Awesome movie that is criminally unknown. This guy is a beast. An artist that horror fans need to know about. Very entertaining while also being arthouse. Quality on every level.

This movie had so much potential and then it fell flat on its face for the last 20 minutes of run time. I understand now why it got average reviews. I left that film disappointed. It could have been immaculate.
@chrisbaker7583
@chrisbaker7583 25 дней назад
agreed 1000% last 20min felt like a parody of the previous hour and 10min. Cat wrap my head around why they chose to go in that cartoonish direction for the end. What a shame.
@chrisbaker7583
@chrisbaker7583 25 дней назад
Yeah I'm not sure exactly what the thoughts were behind the ending. It really fell flat and felt rushed compared to the rest of the film. It would have hit much harder if we were to have seen the beginning of his punishment and then left knowing he was stuck for eternity. The way they shoehorned in his escape is beyond me, unless they had the live birth footage and needed an excuse to use it? idk, the ending is really disappointing and almost ruins the entire film for me.

Ughhhj. I loved the first 30-35 mins of this film. Gripping , eerie complete with a moody unsettling score and then it takes a complete nose dive . I couldn't believe how shit it got as it drifted from the main characters & then the ending is bloody awful
@steelheels43
@steelheels43 Месяц назад
Totally agree. The beginning looked really promising and then turned to shit. Would have been great to have story of main character fighting/finding his way out of hell rather than watching unrelated stories of others etc.
@steelheels43

Terrible movie! Honestly cannot fathom people rating this movie. it has no direction with story and although promising beginning turns into slow and boiring meaningless mishmash of stories that have no relationship to main character or with each other.

I knew they were gonna wuss out and not actually have a movie about hell, instead they did what i expected and did an anthology on how others got to hell or whatever which was completely lame....this was advertised as a movie about the afterlife instead it was mostly a movie on how others ended up in the afterlife. What a waste.
@sebastienringuette5515
@sebastienringuette5515 Месяц назад
Nah, it's a waste. They should have stayed with the first story. It turned into some kind of anthology but it just didn't work. Disappointing to say the least

I think the little girl and the main character are connected. The bedroom at the end looks like the room the little girl hid the parents under the bed in, and the demon said you allowed an earthly being to return to life and made an antichrist after he killed Nathan. Idk tho

Sorry this movie was a huge disappointment. You'll only get like 15 mins of the two main characters experience of hell at the beginning and tail end. The rest of the movie is this weird unrelated story of why other individuals ended up in hell. My wife and I both said what the fuck out loud when it ended lol. Waste of money.
