I got a wicked case of deja vu with this one - nice form factor (the metal case and hinges look good), but the emulation is a let-down. Definitely a candidate for modding with better parts.

It's a damn shame tbh because it looks quite nice with the case and top panel. Inside though is a bit of a let down. The upgrade and even fitting stereo speakers would make a massive improvement. Great review as always @Wicked

The crackling noise - it must be coming from the built-in, new and improved glorified Geiger counter that you get free inside every machine! (Some have Intel inside - this model has a Geiger counter instead!). It will tell you if there are any smelly old chemicals in your surroundings, so you don't have to smell them any more. Simply put a new/retro item near to the device, turn it one and voila! If it makes that noise then it has cheap-de-la-cheap-cheap, smelly chemicals inside! (I am joking, but that IS what it reminded me of).

I have the older case that came with a rpi4, sanwa stick and buttons, you can just barely fit a ssd and a cooling fan in it.This case is slimmer, wider, more space inside and room to rest the wrist beneath the buttons . A rpi4 in this case would be a game changer

Its a pandora box all the good and bad packed up in a nice briefcase...

I reviewed a similar one, but it was called the 36S. Had more emulators and also games market. Appears to run better than the 28s too. Only main issue i had was when switched off, the red LED charging light remained on all the time, which resulted in the battery being fully drained after 7 days without any use, which was a shame.

I literally just bought and returned one of these. I haven't watched the video yet, so my unbiased "review" before I watch: The hardware is AMAZING, like this thing feels incredible with its metal case, great controls, thick acrylic plate, and totally decent display. But the SOFTWARE, OMG, I've never had one of these Pandora things before and the experience was terrible!! If I could've just put Retroarch on this, I would have kept it forever! But in the end I had to get rid of it, such a shame! It's the same hardware inside as a Powkiddy A13 which can be hacked to just run Retroarch, but for the life of me I couldn't find any way to get this thing into a recovery mode. I wanted it to be amazing so badly, like I don't think a piece of hardware has ever made me drool like this thing did. Oh, but the speaker is total crap and mono, that's its biggest flaw with the hardware. Anyway, on to the video, let's see if you had a similar experience!

Outrun (car racing game)- the sound crackles and runs slow. There’s different versions. Haven’t tried those yet. Same with Batman beyond. Tekken 3 I didn’t have a problem with. It ran pretty smooth.

I hate the balltop lock. It just sticks out and snags in a backpack. Nice it comes with batteries not like the ArcadBox that I bought 2 separate sets of batteries till I found some that actually fit. I love the 8 buttons and slimmer case; but instead of full metal I’d prefer “plastic fantastic” like the Powkiddy A13, makes it super light. Plus the A13 has a great monitor cable solution in the hinge. Pandora just seems to get close to making a great device, but just can’t get out of their own way! But hey it has a free Geiger counter! At least it sounds like it!

Have they even released a new main board in the last two years? It feels like they're just slapping a new year onto the same boards again and again.

I have to say, the whole thing screams "amateur project" just from looking at it, but the performance is not even disappointing, it's insulting!

Among other things, it's a shame they didn't just make a compartment for the balltop within the case, which you could alternately use to stow away and extra top, like a battop. I'm 100% certain they could have made room!

never mind that little scratch, the stick is gonna put a hole through the screen lol i think id rather build my own using a retro pie or something. id try to make the screen fold back and tuck in underneath the arcade stick somehow.

With that much space in that box, put in a powerful laptop or small PC in there and emulate all the way to PS3, wiiU and Xbox 360.

I have a cheap 10 inche tablet that has 128 gigabytes SD Card & i use a 8Bitdo Arcade Stick which is Bluetooth. I put my own Emulators. Doing it my way is cheaper and i use emulators i know that work great. If the emulators were perfect on the Pandora then i would buy one.

I like the all metal case but that's about it, it's seems underpowered, no IPS display, lacks a few key emulators and can't seem to handle the ones it comes with to a decent degree. Its a real bummer because it could be a hell of a lot better but it's currently just a mess

Quality control, yeah, right. Not even they could do it right with packaging, but also those games run pretty poorly. Even worse than on the other handheld devices!

When I occasionally get the urge to fall victim to Alibaba and all these Chinese consoles I just come here and binge watch your reviews. Not one of them will I ever buy. (I bought one ONCE, never again... they are all crap).
