Pangea Proxima is a future supercontinent model developed by Christopher Scotese, It claims that both the Atlantic and Indian oceans will continue to expand until 100 Million Years Hence, afterwards they begin to close causing the Americas and Western Antarctica to go eastwards, subducting both the Indian and Atlantic Oceans, after this process is done they will have fused into a supercontinent once again, though predicting the future of the Earth's continents movements past 50MYH are uncertain, which is why there are 4 other models of potenial future supercontinents.
The song used in this video is Inuit256, Made by Kevin MacLeod.

Nice video. This is one of the ways that Earth might look like in the future. Who reckons it might happen? P.S. This is your 100th comment giving you your 800th like for this video. Keep up the good work.

I mean technically this is just showing modern coastlines the whole way through. The English Channel was carved out of the land by glaciers and the British Isles will probably reconnect with mainland Europe eventually.

@danangaw4151 Christopher Scotese, the creator of the Pangea Proxima future supercontinent model, says that the East African Rift will not develop much due to the subduction zone that was south of Iran being destroyed. The destruction of the subduction zone means that there will no longer be any force pulling on East Africa and the Arabian peninsula, stopping the rift and that of the Red Sea's. Another reason for that is the possible development of a subduction zone in the Central Indian Ocean, which may restrict the movement of the East African plate. Do note that I am not a geologist nor a geophysicist, so you can defer to anybody who is more knowledgeable than me in terms of geophysics. It is also important to note that the Afar Hotspot in East Africa might be able to weaken the crust further. On top of that, something may change within the mantle. It would be remiss of me not to defer you to Christopher Scotese's videos, which better explain why the East African rift may fail in the future. Please check the video descriptions. Thanks!

People are forgetting about the east African rift Valley that’s supposed to split a portion of Africa, away from the continent of Africa and not to mention there is overwhelming evidence that the Pacific Ocean is and will continue to shrink well after North and South America have crossed the East Pacific rise like Southern California already has , Creating the San Andreas fault as the result

I personally am on the side that the Pacific will close in the distant future, though this video is about one specific scenario where the Atlantic Ocean recloses. I might plan on remaking these videos sometime soon because these are old

@@Saturn_11109new findings found that in 20 million years from now, a new subduction zone will spearhead into the Atlantic ocean, causing a new ring of fire to form. since there will be two subducting oceans, this will result in a chain reaction where the baikal rift valley will rupture and form a new ocean basin, causing the pacific and atlantic oceans to close. eventually, in 250 million years from now a new supercontinent called "aurica" will form, with a new superocean called the "eurasian ocean". other models such as pangea proxima, novopangea, and amasia are incorrect as it results in the presence of unrealistically old oceanic crust.
@Saturn_11109
@Saturn_11109 2 месяца назад
@@badger8798I believe that there will be a new Gibraltar subduction zone, though it consequently causing Eurasia to split into two is unlikely in my opinion, usually rifts need low lying land in order to spread and split a landmass apart, the reason why the baikal rift formed is due to the Amurian plate tearing away and deforming due to the collision with India and Southern Asia, which wouldn’t entirely be enough for Eurasia to split into two, and just only one subduction zone I doubt could trigger such an event, and would require tens of millions of years for more subduction zones to develop elsewhere in the Atlantic, I.E the east coast of the Americas as the crust gets older and older.
@badger8798
@badger8798 2 месяца назад
@@Saturn_11109 the problem with the pangea proxima model is that is results in oceanic crust thats older than 500 million years. this would cause the crust to sink into the mantle. same goes even for novopangea as well, and possibly even amasia.
@Saturn_11109
@Saturn_11109 2 месяца назад
@@badger8798It wouldn’t, there would be subduction zones around the coasts of the supercontinent due to old age, any modern Atlantic/pacific crust wouldn’t exist anymore due to being subducted and would be replaced by newer, younger pacific/atlantic crust

I don't understand how the Atlantic Ocean Ridge stops. why does it stop? considers that the force of the Pacific ridge will close the Atlantic ridge. Or perhaps both ridges will make the Andes higher than Everest and the approach of America and Africa will not occur.
@Saturn_11109
@Saturn_11109 Месяц назад
@@Ulises200sx Scotese speculates that the East Coast of the Americas will begin to develop subduction zones as they get denser due to old age, which will eventually consume the Mid-Atlantic ridge and eliminating the driving force of it expanding, causing it to close back up.

@@Saturn_11109The problem is that subduction zones tend to form at pre-existing zones of weakness like fault lines instead of spontaneously appearing when oceanic crust gets old enough.

Hello Wombatking. I understand that Alfred Wegener’s Plate Tectonics theory has raised so many difficult questions (for the theory) that some geologist have questioned whether Roberto Mantovani’s 1889 theory is the correct one. In 1889 Mantovani published his first hypothesis on his Expanding Earth theory. He believed that all the continents will join together entirely, covering the surface of a smaller Earth. Neal Adam’s RU-vid video illustrates this but is it true, will all the continents actually come together if one shrank down the Earth?

Pangea Proxima, nor are any other future predictions concrete, only speculation of how the next supercontinent *could* look like, so anything past the formation of the next supercontinent and the consequential rifting of said supercontinent is purely conjecture.
