I once knew two service members one in the US Marines the other the Royal air force both saw action in either the Vietnam and the Falkland islands respectively and a question I asked was it scary and they both responded with not as scary as Northern Ireland was during their time stationed there. It was a 'dirty' struggle. No side comes out in any way but damaged. That said the British Government since 1922 tried to avoid as much as possible the situation in NIreland. I don't understand the "support the agents who saved lives not Scappatici who took them" phrase at the top. Did you hear the authorities either denying or refusing to comment? They are the ones responsible. This Scappattici fella is obviously a bastard, but then, he was a member of a terrorist organisation who also worked for military intelligence, you can't do a job like this unless you are a cold bastard. True, some of the people killed might have been fellow agents, however, if he reported it to his handlers and they did not act, and it is clear from the video that in most cases when another agent or informer's life was in danger he did indeed inform his military intelligence superiors who made the choice not to act (apart from that one case where the "cavalry was sent in"), then the blood it's on those who did not act. It's pretty obvious that the British could not believe their luck at having an active agent in the internal security of the IRA, there's obviously a hierarchy in terms of value of agents, informers, and his value was at the very top, given his access to IRA leadership and role as chief internal security operator. It seems to me clear that the British were more than willing to lose "lesser" informants in order to keep Scappattici in place. By lesser I obviously mean in terms of the level of information these agents were able to provide. As far as the people he had executed, apart from the agents, the rest were terrorists so good riddance. They were active members of the IRA. I obviously feel sorry for the agents who were deemed not important enough by the British military intelligence and were left to their fate. R.I.P. to those. Incredible how this guy is still alive. He must have made sure that in the event of his eventual untimely death, a lot of dirt on former IRA members now turned politicians like Gerry Adams, McGuinness(okay he's now dead) plus others and also a lot of uncomfortable truths about British military intelligence, possibly senior figures within the apparatus, I guess that's what's keeping him alive, the moment he dies, the info goes out. That info would bring down both politicians, former IRA and the British intelligence people interviewed who said they could not comment, maybe even very high level figures. Guess what people. I am the opposite of an irish spy in london.
