Hi Matt, I just love your videos, the background perspective and stories, beautiful photography and music you are giving Clay Croft of X-Overland a definate run for his money. I watch many of these, and have been to Kgalagadi, to Serengeti, mad about Baviaans, did your Kouga Mountian route to Kareedouw and many others. Keep it going do are doing a great Job it is so entertaining. Blessings to you and Nicole. Regards Robert Moffat
Awesome video as usual! You really manage to showcase the countryside so well! As a dutch guy I had a little giggle over de verneukpan. Someone was not happy when they named that place! Your food always looks delicious too and I’m going to have to get myself a braairek now! Looking forward to the next episode.
Hi Matt, been following your trips for a while now and really enjoy them because it is similar to what my wife and I do. Especially your last video on the Kgalagadi. We actually live in the park and run a community owned lodge called !Xaus Lodge. Had we known you were up here we could have organised a get together. But hey maybe next time. It is such a special place. Regards Anthony
Ja boet. When I lived in Canada, we'd do a guys camp every year, and we'd have to pack everything away before bed or the bears and other critters would make a right mess of the site. So we just kept everything we had in ready to go coolers or cold bags. Trash and left overs were burnt on the fire, cans and plastic were kept in a bag high on a tree. Luckily we never had any major hassles. Juslaaikit, I miss those days.
What a lovely ride thus far. What a pity that Huxley is not with you on this one. I assume that it is for the rabies danger or park regulations. Enjoy the rest of your trip and thank you for inviting us along for the drive. Much love from Vanrhynsdorp
That was a good video mate. Wife and I enjoyed it. After The work we did on the rewiring of our camper trailer, we are heading out into outback Western Australia soon for a shakedown trip. Love wild camping in the outback. 😉👍
Matt, ek weet jy is Engels, so as jy nie hierdie verstaan nie sal ek dit Engels probeer sê.
Great video! Loved the way the interior of the Modcab came out! Those guys that did it for you should sell it! Quick question, coming from a setup that did not have air suspension and now one that has, do you have any negatives about it? I might consider it in the future, but I am always in 2 minds about it. Will it affect my wheel travel etc. (I have a Fortuner).
The only negative is that you lose some axle articulation. So your wheel travel will be reduced. I’m not sure that you would be able to carry enough weight on a fortuner to justify air bags to be honest! A normal suspension upgrade would make more sense.
@@mattdubber Yes, that is my concern as well in terms of loosing travel. The problem with my Fortuner is mostly when I tow (have a look at Fortuner, they all look up while towing), and this is with OME suspension. Will do a coil upgrade and see if that helps before looking at air helpers.
For what it's worth. I'm not certain what tyre pressure you operate at but my experience is that airing down low whilst still on hard gravel with sharp stones results in punctures often of the nasty sidewall variety. Once you hit the sand then lowering pressure substantially becomes mandatory especially as conditions get more difficult with inclines, softness and the like.
