Correct me if wrong but Metallica's first show outside the Bay was in Staten Island NY and Charlie and Anthrax helped Metallica out on the east coast back in day. I know Metallica would play L'Amour's in Brooklyn as well
@@alessandropiersanti9426 it was really down to Rex, before Trujillo expressed interest... All the other guys just came for show, so they could make that audition video... they wanted Robert first,,, then Rex ~
It’s funny how people like Phil Anselmo, Dave Mustaine, Kerry King, and others go from talking trash about Metallica to immediately joining them on tour when offered the chance to open for the Four Horsemen. Talk about selling out.
I want to be a fly on the wall when someone goes "hey Phil, remember when you used to call Metallica gay, and how much they sucked after ...And Justice For All?" just watch him squirm a bit. That'd be so awkward.
They've played with Metallica before in the 90s, and hung out in the 80s. Your opinions don't stay the same your whole life. Metallica sucked shit in the 90s, that's a fact. They're still Metallica though.
@@drummerdude476 I’m aware of the fact that people can change their opinion on matters, but isn’t it weird how the opinion of so many Metallica haters changed after they were invited to open for them? Hmm. It almost seems as though their change of heart was motivated by money and relevance more than it was a legitimate reflection on the band’s status as the largest and most influential heavy metal band of all time.
@@thedebatehitman maybe for some other bands, but were talking about Pantera here, dude. Phil and Rex could sit at home and do nothing all day and be fine. Besides, Phil nor Dime, or anyone else in Pantera, dislike Metallica. They just thought their trendy period in the 90s was lame. Dime loves Van Halen but still dislikes the softer stuff they did in the late 80s and 90s. Also, your last sentence is debatable. Imo it could either be Black Sabbath, Priest, Tallica, Pantera, etc.
That's just your opinion, haven't we all moved past saying dumb shit like that? We can like both without it being a competition, they aren't the same kind of music, so why compare? I like Pantera because they were Pantera, same with Metallica.
well they don't smile so much, they are my most favorite band though since 93, but they themselves have talked about their ego after Nowhere Else to Roam tour, because they became so big and now the biggest band". It's a huge title. When you meet old friends from when you were teens or in 20s, you become those kids again. But i think im overthinking this, but they seem to a bit a stiff and not loosened up when meeting. It's like they're stopping themselves from opening up in public and are kind of more reserved. This could be because of cameras and social media. But i could be totally just making this up in my shitty head too
They never hated Phil. Phil talked some serious trash about Metallica changing their music style, but he always respected them as an entity. Metallica 100% never hated Phil. Legends respect legends, so I think they understood that drugs and alcohol were behind those words, and they probably just laughed it off like they laughed off Kerry King and whoever else.
