I'm from Arlington. I got a weed possession charge about 5-6 years ago. My lawyer just so happened to have represented Dime and Phil on the charge they're talking about in the vid. When you walk into his office, he's got they're mugshots blown up and autographed by the boys. They gave him a platinum record of Far Beyond to put on his wall....it's right between the mugshots. Anyways, I got my case dismissed. I'm pretty sure they did, too...if I remember correctly.
“He had made it through a close call, relatively unscathed. On January 21, 1991, on tour supporting Cowboys from Hell, he was arrested in Santa Rosa County in Florida and charged with possession of marijuana, a first-degree misdemeanor, exactly the situation he’d once feared. But it turned out to be no big deal: He pleaded no contest to the charge on May 22, after he’d returned home from Europe, and it more-or-less went away. ” Excerpt From: Zac Crain. “Black Tooth Grin.” Apple Books.
This is one of the greatest interview's ever. This is when Phil had his mind straight and was speaking from his heart. It is about the music brother, white, black, yellow, brown etc. Let's all get together and make great music and have a kick ass time doin it. Much love to everybody out there makin' good music.
Great interview. Not like the multi-millionaire rock-star hard-drug sob stories that came later. They're like a comedy team here, focused & razor sharp. "Common sense and a sense of humor are the same thing, moving at different speeds. A sense of humor is just common sense, dancing." -- William James
Phil has always been kind of out there but he spoke from the heart back then and he speaks from the heart now too. Pantera put on a hell of a show, saw em live twice because they were kind enuff to travel up here 2 maine to play. Good times!
6:24 "I'd rather stick my hand out and shake the bastard's hand". Phil, fuckn' great call!!! so much shit in the world could be avoided with a solid handshake,a sincere look in the eye and a round at the bar. Respect to all.
This is the Pantera I remember...saw them June 24th of the same year this video was taken ('92). I'll never forget that show...they tore shit up, big time. RIP Dime...
this is my favourite interview with these two, they're so down to earth. two of the nicest people in rock / metal, or whatever you want to call it. how could these guys go from being as close as they are here, to the enimies they became. it's such a shame that dimes amazing life got cut short, and he and phil didn't get to make up. R.I.P Dimebag Darrell xx
This makes me damn proud to be a PANTERA fan!!! I hope one day they get back together and have zakk wylde play lead for some tribute stuff ya know Rest in Peace dimebag darrell
LMAO! I love what Phil has to say about the punk cop who they got in a fight with. I also got charged with assault on a cop [in Texas as well] so I totally dig what they are saying
Man it's so cool to see these two when they loved what they were doing and each other! Phil turned megalomaniac, on us, the herion and pills amplified that, but this was awesome. Very cool video!!
That's right metal is for everyone im black and I love metal I got put on metal when I was 12 from a friend of mine im 24 now so I've been listening to it for a while. It doesn't matter what color you rap is for everyone metal is for everyone, country etc if thats what you like go for it. It shouldn't matter what color you are i'm starting up a all black metal band I think metal needs that right now but like i was saying metal is for everyone listen to what you love.
hes fucking drunk.when you drunk.stupid ass shits happens.plus.hes was on a fucking heroin.he was never the same intelligent person we knew anymore after that.
its good to see how it was back in the day when these guys got along. it wasn't about fame or money or drugs and alcohol. it was about heavy metal music
