We got a whole royal family for that. Phil didn’t mention any of his hobbies at the gig. It is disappointing he’sa white supremacist and I’d like that to change. I still love their music. I’m not so sure about Queens of the Stone Age though and I also love their music but I mostly went to see Biohazard instead because Josh Homme turned to the dark side then used cancer as an excuse.
jesus christ, takes me back when I saw the real deal in Milton Keynes 1999 or something like that, crowd surfed from the very back of the arena to the front during this, not a phone in sight and 20,000 rocking their socks off. Wish I could have seen them over here this year with this lineup, as good as it'll get, respect!
The signature part of this solo are Dime's "fake echos" where he uses his left and right hands to slide up the neck, Zakk doesn't bother doing them @ 5:28
@@__-bc4bs Yeah it's not a huge deal as he's playing more or less the same notes, and I've seen he has done Dime's fake echos in some clips. What really bothers me is how he plays the main riff. He's not playing the main bend correctly, and apparently no one has told him.
I saw Phil Anselmo at Download 2009 but he was so lifeless then I forgot. Also Marilyn Manson was there too without MTV Video magic and blowed too and I forgot that too. Only the festival t-shirt and poster reminded me what I missed.
Yeah looks & sound great but playing way to slow' Plus there stage amps look like Fake ! wooden back drops what the hell is going on with Metal these days
'What's going on in Metal today?' Well, a number of things. The cost of transporting heavy and large tube amplifiers is too prohibitive nowadays. Most top-tier bands are using amp modelers that go direct to front of house PA, by comparison they are small and light, which makes it far cheaper to transport them. Meaning, that bands no longer use actual amplifiers on stage because it costs too much to do so. Performers are sent their audio wirelessly, through in-ear monitors. I do get what you mean though, it can look quite cartoonish seeing a wall of Marshall cut-outs, but, times move on due to necessity.
@@DamnedIntrovert yes i get some of you points sure thing but those amps look so Dam Fake ! i am so pleased i seen them back in the day 1992 ,94 , & finally 1998 so i am all good
Stage Amps are fake as most bands these days will either use modeler Amps or isolate the Amps and Cabinets under the stage in a tour case with sound proof material inside with a microphone. Technology has changed to the point we're the Amps and Cabinets are no longer required on stage due to in ear monitors and the use of the fractual modeler. If you notice Zakk doesn't use a pedal board as all his effects are pre lopped into a fractual modeler with his tech hitting the buttons off stage. There is a video of Scott Ian from Anthrax working Zakks wah pedal off stage from a show in South America late last year.
I love this. Yes it's not "Pantera" as it was, but most modern bands couldn't compete with these guys at nearly 60. Smashing it and can't wait to see them in February.
Embarrassing. Vinnie made it clear there would never be a reunion with Zak. Phil wanted a cheque. Dime is turning in his grave. Do you research and.. Ree.... spect...
Got tickets today to their show in Stockholm early 2025. I didn't know how excited I was until the tickets were guaranteed. To be able to see Pantera in 2025 is crazy. Sure, it will never be as it was with Dime and Vinnie - but this is the closest we'll ever get to that magic that was back then. I'm thankful for getting the chance experiencing that.
Yeah I'm going to the UK tour and never thought I would ever see them. Spent my entire 20s obsessing with a band, I never thought I'd see. It's a nice feeling, I'm excited too. Have massive fun!!!! 🎉
God I miss the days where this festival wasn't so soft. It's like a take that concert with Pantera trying there hardest to kick there asses. When bloody Busted a 2000's teeny boppers brigade was there, sums it up. I can remember when fans would be enjoying themselves and giving Pantera a proper audience
Thank fuck it's not just me, and does Zakk's riffing sound flat. Not just in this vid, which I know is just a mobile, but in general. Like he can't quite get that fat groove sound.
Been a fan since the 80's, can't wait to see them in Feb... great to see Phil is still owning the vocals, and Charlie and Zakk fit in to the line up so well. Thanks for posting bro.
Yeah smart phones' has killed the vibe of going to see a band Live I am so pleased grew up in the decades of seeing Live bands without all this Ai ' technology smart phone CRAP !
I don’t do gigs like these anymore because all those idiots holding their phones up above their heads and waving them about would 1) stop me from seeing the gig properly, and 2) p*ss me off to the point of knocking some of them out! Didn’t have all that sh*t in my gigging days. STOP IT!!!!
I was there! got to see Pantera in my lifetime woooooooooohoooo! EDIT: most these replies are awful, they can all sook a fat one. I loved em. (not fat ones, Pantera lmao)
Don’t worry old timer, i was in the audience. Slap bang in the middle of a huge moshpit. This video doesn’t do it justice. It was loud and had punch. This was taken a bit further back from the action.
The second massive thanks Dude. Due to health i could not get there thank you so .much for up loading this it made my weekend much better thank yOu SO dam fucking much
Saw Pantera live in Seattle in 1997 at the Mercer arena. They came out of the dark with flashlights and just started saying "I want a mosh pit over there, I want a mosh pit over there." The guys in the crowd told the girls to head to the outer edges of the crowd near the walls. When they started jamming the Marshall stacks were insanely loud and I felt this pressure from all the people behind me. Someone fell down and people quickly picked them back up so they wouldn't get trampled. My ears rang for a day after the show. INSANE.
This is just an example of why I don't bother going to live shows, I've been to Download before it was Download (Monsters of Rock) and you would have got carried off your feet anywhere near the front of the stage such was the rowdiness. This is so tame and most shows now are the same. I feel sorry for the bands having to look out at a load of people watching a show through their phones rather than living in the moment.
We’ve all got old and the young know no different. Not like they have the opportunity of going to small sweaty clubs, week in week out and learning the techniques needed to survive in a raging sea of humanity. Same reason I don’t go.
Feel the same- saw Guns and Roses at the O2 a few years back and had to move past armies of city lads in smart clothes filing on their phones just out of work 👎 that’s fine, just not at metal gigs.
I thought they were dead, suprised to see them, good to see 'new music', what was is it with download latley? Are the old folks homes closing in America?
@@JordanST-n7r listening to them back to back they’re almost identical , people just expect everything sped up live . They used to play it faster live back in the day but this is much more faithful to the studio version
@@Themaskplague People don't expect everything sped up live, it is normal to be sped up live. It's the adrenaline. Still, it sounds way too slow and sloppy. It may be that Zakk is not the best fit for it and his playing has nothing to do with Dime's.Of course Charlie too cannot handle the metronome called Vinnie Paul.
An audience standing still while holding up smartphones like a bunch of melts rather than moshing? Then again so was the band. As a mid 90s metaller this performance blows and so does the audience. Glad I didn't waste a hotel ticket, day pass or travel costs on this. Saw more energy at a MADNESS cover tribute band and they weren't even metal.
