@@inelovnord764 all of metal changed when Dime died, bands used to want a chunky sound because of him and when he died everyone started changing to cleaner tones
If this was 3 years ago, I would have been happy that Vinnie Paul died because of his groove metal stuff, I Am the Night, and Death Trap. Now I realize it is sad. Poor Jerry Abbott had to bury his wife and both of his children. I couldn't imagine such a thing.
The Abbott boys are NOT together again because heaven and all religious beliefs are imaginary. Too bad, because it sounds great, but it's all bullshit! Oh hey Santa, thanks. Omg can't believe I met Santa! Who's next, the jolly green fuckin giant!
Most didn't know until sooo many years later! :D Like being a Def Leppard fan of Pyromania and Hysteria for those years and then came along G&N and all the great grooves that followed,,, and then stumbling across "On Through the Night" many years later... ;) But Thankfully We now have RU-vid and Cool Dudes that share allot of what many may have missed. \,,/ Plus, not all Fans are Fanboys. There's a Big Difference.
Not heavy like their later stuff, but one of my favorite pantera songs none the less. Definitely a hidden gem in metal. One of dimes best solos of all time lies in this song... Most people have never heard it. Amazing
Too bad they didn't get their record label deal with this record cuz this could have been an amazing debut record. Especially with the better production quality they would have had like I did with Cowboys. That have been dope for this record to be the first and then Cowboys and then so on.
@@stephenmckimmie9025 unfortunately power metal couldn't ever be considered their debut. Master of puppets had just laid the cornerstone for the thrash sound. Power metal was too judas priest driven. Cowboys showed their ability to separate their sound and really hone in. With that said, we see dimebags ability to not only compose unbelievable solos, but we hear more melodic phrasing in his solos during Power metal. Other than that, the songs were cheesy. The lyrics were awful... the sound was shit.
They should put all the pre-CFH records in a box and name it ''the underrated collection". What a shame, this album, this song and especially the solo is pure gold!
Fernanda Eriksen Pantera from 1990-2004 was categorized as groove metal, but it had some songs that could be categorized as thrash... so no, I'm not kidding
There was more to it than that. Mediocre lyrics, questionable vocals, forgettable riffs and melodies is why their glam stuff wasn't popular Dimebag's solos however were amazing
ilickedualot yes dude 10s definitely and my all time favorite solo from dime is hard lines and sunken cheeks its not his most difficult or technical but damn so much feeling in that one thats the greatest solo to me
2:33-2:34 gives me the chills every single time and it’s the one that officially put dimebag Darrell on the map and made him the God and the goat of the guitar.
To everyone who says they are glad they didn't grow up in this stuff, you have no idea how great it was...your generation missed out on the best music ever! I really feel sorry for you, all u get today is cookie cutter sluts with no talent like this. back in the day talent mattered. Dime still and always will reign as the king of Metal! \m/
Heavy Metalurgist look past the thin mainstream layer and talented music still exists, they just don't get the light of day because 1) Trends and 2) People refuse to listen to shit that's new which is perpetuating the problem lol
Monty Krem the bigger problem is the lack of identity within the masses. At least in the US most people accept what's easiest to access like... FM radio and network TV. The complete absence of talent doesn't matter to most so long as it's over produced and has a catchy chorus.
Heavy Metalurgist all the world is into is rap or shity ass horrible cancerous pop, some and I firmly mean some of th me rap is really good, most are just the same ting ting ting ting beat which mumbling lyrics saying nigga or shoot you up,and pop...almost all is the equivalence of hey I just meet you
This song can almost be considered an underrated predecessor of Cemetery Gates. Nearly every thing is same like: Phil's Rob Halford inspired vocals Awesome solo. The only major differences are structure and time length.
Such a good song. And basically the definition of 80’s glam metal. Let’s be honest it is, and it was cool. And other songs on this album were heavy. Then 8 years later “OUT OF MY MIND! GUN UP TO THE MOUTH!” Etc. Pantera rules...
I'm a 37 year old man and tearing up to that fucking beautiful solo. This song for me encompasses the days of old, the epoch of time I so long for again, forever gone, no way back, now trapped in a soul-less world of synthetic bullshit and welcomed tyranny. Fuck I miss you Darrell, Vinnie, Rex and Phil.....Pantera. Please come back.
I’m 44 and brother I’m right there with you . Wow 80’s and 90’s were definitely better. Some of it was my age at that time but damn the world has changed in 30 yrs. It’s horrible that this is the era I’m an adult hitting middle age. Wtf! ( is that possible) lol. But school shootings , I wanna pee in the girls room cause that’s how I feel and etc… ughhh
We'll Meet Again I walk the Streets of darkness Where hell awaits Guarded by the mystery Just beyond the gates Searching for the answer Every man must find Before eternity beckons I will make you mine Goodbye, mystery Goodbye, pain Goodbye, love We'll meet again In another lifetime She'll take another man She's left me here to die Its killing me again!
+Inhalin1514 That album cover is still badass and i wouldnt turn down smoking pot with Darrell is he approached me today wearing those clothes and with permed hair! \m/ \m/ NORML.
Why is there no band that sounds like Power Metal Pantera, DAMN! Such an awsome blend between Judas Priest, Hair Metal and Thrash. I need more like this.
"Such an awsome blend between Judas Priest, Hair Metal and Thrash." You should check out the USPM scene (US power metal). Bands like Vicious Rumors, Helstar, Chastain, Liege Lord, M.A.R.S..... They don't sound EXACTLY like this, but they're basically the description you just gave.
I remember back in 1999/2000 I got this rare album off of Ebay. My good friend and I listened to it. Initially we laughed since Pantera ignored their hair/glam metal past. Yet, these songs were good, really good. Phils' vocals were melodic and you will probably never hear him sing likes this again. I enjoyed listening to this album and Dime was a real treat, a true guitar wizard, RIP Dime
Power Metal was actually the first album I heard from Pantera....which I instantly became a fan! Kind've crazy this was the last album they did from the 80's and completely changed they're sound and style on the next which made them a "popular metal band" after the fact but this album gets totally over looked for some reason? It's amazing though! Damn shame there is not a single "mainstream artist" today in 2021 that has half the musical talent Pantera had in 1988 when this album was released!
Do not take this to be wishy-washy, but there is something incredibly precious in this song and solo. The way that Dime completely pulls you in on a journey to a different place during his solo is quite literally *divine* in nature. There's just no other way to put it. At some point during the solo, it's like a sudden epiphany where you feel that feeling, of being in that place, so vividly, it's like he's showing you something, but before you can 'see' what it is, it's already gone. I hate to sound like some lame hippy but what an amazing human being, Dimebag was. He shared his *GIFT* with all of us, with the most passion, honesty, and soul one could ever imagine. We may not ever see a musician as great as he was, ever again (as well as the few others who also had this gift of music). But at least we are able to come back to it, at virtually any time we want. I think we need to realize this and be a little more grateful for being alive at this point of human existence and being able to experience these moments. That is all. Take care.

Dimebag was a genius guitarist in general but my favourite has always been his melodic work, he's so brilliant in all of his melodic solos and I wish there was just even a little bit more material from him
Cool song & wicked guitar solo, Pantera should be damn proud of this album, even if it's before they really changed their image moving on to CFH in 1990
This album is so underrated they shouldn`t left behind it, this song should`ve been played in every Pantera concert; to me this song is timeless and dont have an era, is side to side with Hollow, The sleep, 10`s, Suicide note pt 1, Floods and even Cementery gates; slow tempo but powerfull songs, strong lyrics, killer guitar solos. One of their best song right here.
This, weirdly reminds me of their later stuff after their glam/heavy metal era. They still have the groove, and the riffing style, just different of course
That's up there with Dime's best solos of all time.Damn,it's such a shame that this song will never be heard and appreciated by as many people as it should be.
That f sharp power chord behind the lead rhythm by dime is daunting and eerie. Love how dimebag cld create a feeling or emotion with his guitar like that
