After seeing a number of cases like this debunked, I have to wonder what the believers are so excited about. I mean, faces in the pantry door, shutters opening, an odd light flicker here and there...? Ohhhh, man, shit's getting real! It seems the ghosts have realised they aren't scary and have switched tactics to try and bore us to death.

This video came out 10 years ago, and you cant even tell. All of his videos have the same style, quality, theme, everything. I love that dude

why would a 'ghost' not just pass through the door? This ghost for some reason cannot simply walk through the glass, its impeding her motion and she has to stop before hitting it and put her hands up against it? Aren't 'ghosts' intangible?

This just came up in my feed because of James Randi (RIP). I'm a relatively recent subscriber so I didn't get to see this the first time through. I think this two-part story is a great illustration of how practical magicians tricks and digital effects combine to make a very convincing illusion. I especially like how the story takes the interplay of two expert perspectives to finally land on the truth. Bravo!

In the original footage of the pantry ghost documentary, when he had some guy there with him waiting, the door doesn't pop open at 12:34:00am like it had been doing. The timestamp on the video runs until 12:34:31am and then jumps back to 12:33:54am but if you wasn't watching the time stamp it would have looked flawless like no shenanigans had taken place in the editing.

Umm... The swiveling pantry shelves IS the correct guess with part two. It's dark behind the glass after the girl disappears, then it whitens suddenly as if pantry shelves swung forward and reflected the light coming through the door. Then the air pushed the door open. It's even further evidenced by the pantry being EMPTY so the items weren't knocked off the shelves from momentum. The risk for falling items was probably the reason why the first attempt was done with the girl hiding in the corner of the pantry and ducking down.

you can see her legs at 3:13 while he's talking to the camera as well. clearly just a girl behind the door :P.

Got it on my first guess when I watched the first video about the Pantry Ghost! I'm actually amazed that the, captain, had to go in such an extreme to explain something so, practical as, crouching and standing on the side.

My modest take after seeing only your videos : A few weird things came to my mind : First, i know it's maybe a matter of safety but... why is there a double sided handle ? I mean i live in Europe, and maybe it's different and all but, i mean one sided handles exist specifically to use on pantry door and such, and judging by the still tiny space of the pantry, the likeness of getting stuck in it is slim. Besides maybe it is caused by a different factor, but, we can almost clearly see, the girl back off and a more whiter and wider object come to the glass, it even changes the way the blur is affected. If i understand the architecture well, there is two pantries almost adjacent to each other ? maybe there is a hidden compartment with the access being on the first left side pantry, and a vent at the bottom of the second ? allowing the girl to put her hand and push the door open ? Anyways none of this opinion was backproofed or researched, just out of my mind. Bye Captain !

yep i thought the same thing, the drawers couldnt have swing opened cuz the point from ghost to opening the door is too quick, not enough time to swing open the compartment is there is one. This explanation is much better, bravo. well done.

I'll be glad to see this ghost measurement techniques by myself if you'd mind. The first video was far fetched and I thought so since the beginning, but even that explanation was much better than unproven things as ghosts. This time, the explanation is of such simplicity and elegance, that I'm sure he's right on the spot now. I couldn't see the movement in concernedagain's video unlike the camptain's one. Even discarding that movement, the explanation provided here is capable to stand.

So a true classical stage illusion where all the hard work is done by the "assistant".

When I first saw this video i thought it may be a Picture going closer to the glass door, then using a motor to make it exit frame right. I still can't shake that thought. The thing is digitally you may not be able to find the trick, but it's a glass door, not even a plain glass door, maybe an image or a small cardboard picture would magnify given the right distance... Then drop to the floor or to the side while someone else picks it up

@sephirothjenova999 That is the lack of noise that I was talking about and to do that she would have to do that fast to make CD right except there is no thud which would accour on a wooden floor, squeezing past would make a noise from the contact on the wooden floor, dropping down to hide also makes a noise and squeezing into a narrow space then out of it will show visually on the camera and also from the sound she would make at the end of the drop down, and echoing would make the sounds heard

i left a comment on one of the pantry girl and pretty much said this is how it happened.but i did not see the sides.just the ducking down and crawling out.i do ghost videos and tricks like this.always start simple and if you still can not figure it out.then start thinking bigger like photo shop or after effects

It really is amazing! The ghost actually hid near the bottom. That the ghost has the ability to walk through walls, but she went and did it the old fashioned way. That ghost has a good work-ethic, we can applaud it for that.

In 1983 to 1985 in Northern Germany I lived in government quarters that were honestly haunted, almost every one of our friends and the three of us who lived there had experiences. It got so severe that we contacted our local post Chaplain who reluctantly made an appearance in an attempt to pacify our pleas. When he showed up, the house was flooded with water evenly on all three floors, and it was so cold in the house that you could see the condensation while exhaling (it was summer). After we opened the door to allow the Chaplain inside, we could hear stomping from the staircase with water splashing from each stomp. We noticed that the water was thrown onto the walls in the living room with the floor below it and the ceiling above it almost completely dry. The clock by the kitchen had a second hand that was running in reverse temporarily, the wall all around it was soaked with water too. The Chaplain was clearly upset and told us to go outside as he went up the stairs, and asking us again if anyone else was there that we knew of. What felt like 20 to 30 minutes later the Chaplain walked out, visibly shaken and pale clutching onto his Bible and crucifix. He told us that he didn't expect us to go back in alone, but if we did to go with Bible in hand reading scripture. He let us know that his intentions were to have the quarters condemned and sealed and then finding us another place to live, we asked him not to because it would bring trouble and ridicule to our guardian/father who was stationed at the local military base. He reluctantly agreed and told us to contact him anytime if things got worse, he also contacted "housing" maintenance to search for leaks and possible causes for all the water everywhere. Housing could not find any leak(s) to explain the water everywhere and also checked the adjacent townhouses, nothing! The activity continued in frequency and intensity, nothing seemed to make a difference. Since the base closure the local nationals acquired the housing, I'll bet the activity continues! There has to be some truth to ALL these accounts, even if only less than 1% because I know for a fact that our experiences were real.

"You obviously have never had an encounter with a spirit" ....and nether has anyone else!! This is sort of the point. While science can not answer everything yet, they are working on it....sadly once they have found all of the answers...there are still people that wont listen.

@MinistrySystem Cameras are imperfect devices, and humans and imperfect operators. Cameras regularly capture dust and other particulates in it's lens. Dust being in the lens isn't strange at all, but you are correct; even 'orbs' can easily be made as a digital effect. It's always glad to see someone that while they believe in ghosts still demands proof and truly needs to be convinced.

Aside from the melodrama, I was kind of thinking it was this way all along. The girl just hides, and due to the terrible quality and low lighting, it's an easy effect to achieve. Nice vid. :)

it would be a good theory of the pantry was built like you said. but I've seen many videos of debunkers and on the sides there is not that much room. in a part of your explanation you also see the small space from the door frame as ahs the door opening. clearly showing the inside of the pantry, with that little room on the side you would see the girl. i don't think it is real either, but I think your explanation is off track.
