Wow, now you’re getting to P. Roach (for the record, “P. Roach” is just an obviously shorter way to say their entire awesome group name) ? Cool !!!! You won’t be disappointed, man. Been a huge fan of Papa Roach since I was a kiddo myself, and I’m talking since I was formerly in elementary school. Never been to a concert (embarrassingly.....) but I’m still a huge fan of theirs. 🤘😁🤘
They’re still going. There’s a story behind how “Last Resort” came out, which had a not-so-well impact on their vocalist Jacoby Shaddix. (If I’m not mistaken)
This song was written to encourage people to reach out and help with depression and suicide by showing the side of the one suffering. Great reaction. Thanks ! Yes he's alive and I believe might be touring.
@@jeremychaffin7551 There's a doc about the song on RU-vid, tis pretty good. His mate actually didn't commit suicide but suffered serious mental health issues. Their friendship kind of ended but in the doc they are brought together again.
This song was the inspiration for many of us kids back in the Early 2000s to start talking about our depression and also letting us know that we weren't alone in feeling this way. Papa Roach has probably saved more lives with this song than they could ever imagine, my self included. Whenever I was at my lowest, I would put this song on and feel alot of comfort knowing I wasn't alone and the sheer awsome-ness of the song would motivate me to keep moving forward.
Another 90’s kid here and I can confirm, Papa Roach is one of the reasons I’m still here. They’re also one of the reasons I’m am an advocate for mental health. MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS AND ITS OKAY TO NOT BE OKAY 🙏🏼🖤
Papa Roach saves lives. They bring mental illness and depression into the light and let us know it's ok to talk about it. Everyone can relate to them. Absolutely love them. So any good songs. You cant pick a bad one. Not the only one, help, born for greatness. Come around is one of my faves.
This song has been saving my life for over a decade. Since I was a teenager I suffered depression suicidal thoughts and self harm. Now at 31 years old. Last year I buried both my parents I still fine myself listening to this song. It gives me the extra push to keep going. I don't feel alone I sit cry rage out to the beat and then take a deep breath and start a new day.
There's actually a little documentary type show about this song is written about a friend that he did not commit suicide he was suicidal and they talked at the end him and his friend cuz they asked him if it was alright to do the song
Jacoby the lead singer said a lot of people thought this song 🎧 was about him but he was living with a friend who attempted suicide and he end up in a mental facility and got better and now is living a great life! So Jacoby wrote about his friend from that time but what a great song and so many relate to this song and a lot of Papa Roach songs my favorite is Scars, I related to that song 🎶 in my own life at the time and everything in that song fit exactly how I felt then! You have to do there song Scars!🤟
"This song that serious shouldn't sound so good" It is so raw and true that it created good art, in fact I think that the more raw and the more emotion on something the more powerful it is
This song helped turned sad, lonely teenage thoughts into something like rebellion. Rebelling from sadness and despair. I saw them perform this before COVID and I have never screamed so loud and so long in my life.
The band is good and still making music today bro! Their song *F.E.A.R* (Face Everything and Rise) is a powerful song for me 🤘🏻 Between Angles & Insects from this same album is a banger
You know for a lot of people this song was the comfort. It was the guy that understood. It was the pally wally that knew what you felt but it made you feel that it wasn't that bad.
One of my all time favorites that got me through some pretty rough times was Scars. But like one of the other commenters below mentioned, it's from the one sufferings POV and this hits home hard. Papa Roach was well known for this kind of music. The amount of lives this song alone and Scars has helped is insane. Without bands like Papa Roach, Disturbed, Linkin Park's Numb and Breaking the habit and many others I can honestly say I never would have gotten the courage to ask for help when I needed it and to this day still struggle with mental health issues.
Soooo.....I was today years old when I learned that the lyric goes, "If I took my life tonight, chances are that I might." I always thought he said, "If I took my life tonight, chances are dynamite." I can't be the only one that has thought that that's how the lyric went! 🤣🤣 Hands up for those that thought he said "dynamite" instead of "that I might" hahaha!
Papa Roach is still alive and kicking, they actually re-recorded this entire album in one take during quarantine last year sometime and released it as an album! The videos of them doing it are on YT! It is a celebration of the 20 year anniversary of this album.
These are my homies. From before they got signed. Mental health is a constant subject. This song springs from Jacoby the lead singer, who had a friend who committed suicide. They are more than alive and safe and this song has become an anthem of hope to people contemplating suicide. Love these guys they are Fam.
This song helped me through so many dark times in my early teens. It was nice just being able to hear music about the same things I was thinking and feeling back then
The song is about suicide, bro. That's why you're confused. Papa Roach helped many people with this song and even his own buddy. I grew up with this song with my dad while we owned a Sirius radio that plays these classic rock songs. Spent my entire childhood with these thanks to my dad. Literally,I heard all of these songs through my dad. Papa Roach made this song not because he was suicidal, but for a friend who was and helped him.
“…use to be amazing? Nah brochacho, they’re still amazing. I’ve seen a lot of bands perform live & not too many of them can match the same energy level as Papa Roach. 🤘😝
I went to the same high school as them. Vacaville High. I recognize people in the actual music video. I remember bring my youngest brother to the bass player's house (Tobin) for his son's birthday party.
The most meaningful song by Papa Roach to me ... there are two, you just did one song in this reaction. The other song .... SCARS. FYI: Papa roach have done quite a few songs about suicide & self harm to help people learn how to reach out for help. This song came out in 2000 ... PAPA ROACH IS STILL AROUND BTW. They had an album called Who Do You Trust in 2019 and their album 20/20 came out in 2020 and for 2021 so far they have a Greatest Hits Album called The Better Noise Years. Jacoby, Jerry, Tony and Tobin are the best!! I absolutely love these guys.!!!
Cry for help? You should listen to Blue October - Hate Me. Its about the lead singers constant battle with depression. Great reaction! Edit: Sorry, just saw you did this track a year ago.
Definitely a childhood Banger for me, this song helped me get through a lot of depression when I was a teen. mostly just being able to play it in my headphones as loud as I could
“Scars” is 100% a must hear. Also “To be loved”… both were my anthem greeting me out of some dark days. Scars (to me) is that moment when you realize that you can’t help everyone. Sometimes people need to save themselves, and you’re better off walking away. “To be loved” is leaving the past behind and loving who you are no matter how f@#ked up you may be….it’s almost a sequel to Last Resort.
Awesome reaction! They dropped an album in 2017 called Crooked Teeth. I jammed to this song in the car-windows up-volume cranked-singing at the top of my lungs. Got a lot of the pain out. just knowing I wasn't only one feeling that way helped. ML&R
It’s meant to be therapy for people like me who went through the same stuff and getting those feelings out, I had my first suicide attempt in the 3rd grade and many more through high school and this song helped me in many dark times
Lots of folks mention Scars, which should definitely be on the list. I also highly recommend Broken Home and Getting Away With Murder, which is my personal favorite. I got to see them in concert a few years ago and they put on an AMAZING live show.
Not only are these dudes fine they are still together. Just last year they celebrated the 20th anniversary of this album. If you do any other reactions from this album just if they did it for the live anniversary session. Besides singing them do it live they talk a bit about the history of recording and the backstory. Example: The suggestion you gave a heart to *Between Angels & Insects* has a video on their official channel.
I went to the same high school as them they graduated a couple years ahead of me... The bassist Tobin had a child early and i remember bringing my little brother to his birthday party. They did an MTV "coming home" episode and filmed it at our high school during senior year. Vaca High.
Because of papa roach LP MCR and others that helped me get through a dark time in my senior year of hs. Im still here because of them and I'll always love them
When you can vibe to songs you relate to, and enjoy something despite being in your darkest moments, it lets you know you’re not alone and you still have a chance. Music has saved so many people, including myself.
Infest, the whole album, is fire. As a dude who, let's say, tried several times it's like an anthem for the time, 90's, for young suburban white teens.
If it hasn’t been said, definitely check “Broken Home” as an 18 year old kid in 99-2000 going through the same exact thing, it really helped to know I wasn’t alone.
I love so many of them! "Periscope feat. Skylar Grey" is beautiful, love the vibe! Groovy rythm in "Not The Only One", big big chorus in "Falling Apart" and/or "Face Everything And Rise". Really love "Not That Beautiful" and "Breathe You In" from the album "The Connection". I'd love to see you react to the mashup/remix Jacoby joined in on with Hollywood Undead called "Heart of a Champion"... You're gonna love love P-Roach and Hollywood Undead when u have an origin in rap/hiphop, trancending into Rock * * * * * Keep it up man (Y)
Had to pause to comment this: Please check out the video VICE did where the went back to Jacoby's (lead singer) hometown, and they talked about the origins of the song, and also how the meaning has evolved over the years. Truly an example of how art can imitate life and touch so many people who may be going through something dark and just need a lil nudge back to center.
