Loved watching your process. Liked how you used old book pages. Just started doing 3 D butterflies. I have a 3 step stamp butterfly I'm using now. I get color with stamp,so i don't have to color in.I double stamp the same one on 2 pieces of cardstock. I fussy cut one,cutting off antennas too. I color edges after I cut it. I glue it on top of other at just the body and shape wings to come up. I add embellishments after. Etc. Glossy accents to dark parts on body. Going to try some with embossing. Love embossing, have bunch but don't get to use them as much as I'd like. Thank you for Sharing this and your hints. Have to check what I have in a book I can use. THANKS again and have a great and safe day.. .

Ceri - I'm not sure you can find this product in your area, but Aleene's Tack It Over and Over will take care of the butterfly stamps' refusal to stick to a block. You apply a thin coat to the back of the stamp and let it dry. Viola! I've used this for years, not just on rubber/cling stamps. At some point you may need to apply another layer of glue. If you cannot find it l be happy to send a bottle

Cool…Christine Stokes shared to do this on magazine pages,,,I have been doing that with gold powder,…but I really like the black on the pages. Thanks..good teaching by the way

I love this idea. I stamp my butterflies but never emboss. Last week I got a mini pancake cooker and have been using it to emboss die-cut words, I think it would work great for the butterflies. The cooker will go up to 4". Marion Emberson did it on one of her videos. I was tired of burning my fingers on fiddly bits or having to fix the embossing after using tweezers. I love your videos Ceri.

Now I know why I need to invest in.an embossing pad and powders. I love the idea of making something unique. ❤❤❤

I never dreamt of using black embossing powder, but now I want to try that black sparkle. And since you don’t like the sparrow, you might as well send him to me! He’s my favorite. I’ll give him a loving home. 🕊️

Great techniques-especially toning down embossing powders’ shine with matte medium. Plus, I’m embarrassed to say, after decades of art stamping (now segued to not-very-“junk” journals), I have always applied gesso with a brush! The credit card application is so much better.

The large butterfly, especially looks great embossed in the black with the inked edge. Thanks for the inspiration Ceri. 😊

I have many old books that are at the deep yellow and very brittle stage. I have decided to preserve them by using mod podge to make collages out of them. I can then create digital versions with them for my own use so I'm not having to cut up original pieces for one and done work. You gave me the idea in this video to experiment with gesso. I have clear gesso as well as white gesso. The clear has some tooth to it which means I can do soft pastel painting right over the text as well as watercolor. Thank you for the idea to use gesso. Happy creating! P.S. Your butterflies turned out beautifully.

Cover your embossed images with paper and go over it with a warm iron and you will remove all,the shine.
