Bobbery wakes up drunk in this episode and (presumably) stays that way for the rest of the game

There actually is more to Bobbery's theme, it was only watered down because you were in the primer section for his moves! Every character actually had a primer variant for their theme, kinda like the "Thinking" version of the battle themes. That being said, I love Bobbery's theme. Probably my favorite.

I think you can actually hear Bobbery uncorking the "champagne" when you give it to him. I wonder if Mario dreads the smell a little, considering how he both had to fight a giant monster made out of the stuff, and then promptly "transport" an entire barrel inside his own remarkably resilient body. If he ever has to see another bottle of the stuff again, it'll be too soon... ... A popular theory I heard about why Bobby, uh, tragically expired in his detonation, while Bobbery is (mostly) fine - it's been shown that Bob-ombs can come from factories, but also are shown to have families and age. Some hanker that the "mass-produced" variant of Bob-ombs are the ones that cannot survive detonation, and are the ones Bowser mostly employs in his line of uncomfortably sentient munitions. Meanwhile, the "natural" kind of Bob-ombs can have dramatically more deviation in their designs, such as colors and mustaches, while also surviving their own detonation - hence why King Bob-omb from '64 keeps finding the occasional moment to return, for instance. While the *real* reason is obviously "to add weight and emotion to a plotline when we need to", I always found this a fun consideration. ... And on the subject of self-detonation, I do like the detail that Bobbery "stumbles" whenever he flies back in from exploding. Considering how Bombette always stuck the landing, I wonder if that was put in as a nod to Bobbery's age? ... It *would* have been pretty badass to see him with a cane as well, but I guess that would have added too much weight to his design, along with... well, raising questions regarding what invisible magic many a Mario Character have control over in order to live in a world without arms or hands.

and yet Bobbery's theme is the first one to make me go: "OH" and want to save it to a playlist.

Bomb Squad is usually useful for bossfights like Chapter 5's or Chapter 6, where there are multiple phases with several parts - or just in general! If the fights gonna take a while, why NOT set up some high damage, spread however you want? Its only a detriment if you finish quickly!

I like that Mario is the only one who reacted to Pa-Patch’s joke. He was surprised, even.

My guess is that Bomb Squad is supposed to be Bobbery's initial crowd attack until you get Bombombast... and not much more than that.

A missed opportunity this chapter could have was a day & night cycle (like chapter 6 funnily enough), as you can see in the end Flavio notes down that another day has passed, meaning it was getting late, but the sky didn't represented that, or Flavio is so lost to time that he thinks an hour is an entire day. Either way, Bobbery is now cursed with the Mario's shared braincell curse.

I'm surprised you didn't comment on the fact that Flavio actually has a riding pose in this version.

2:35 that's because the tutorial starts pretty much right away. During the tutorial part, the partners theme switch to a sort of "thinking" variation, like the battle themes. The normal version is much better with the main melody, but it's only up for 2 textboxes. ... Shame. But do listen to the normal version once to have an actual opinion on it!
