Super helpful. I'm setting up a portable green screen kit and this video makes it clear that muslin is the way to go.

Happy to help! Muslin is definitely my go too for chroma keying. If you’re after max portability, look into the collapsible 1.5x2m blue/green screens. We have one and they do an excellent job on the go (presuming they’re big enough for your needs).

@@CreativePathFilms the muslin. It just gives an over all more matte look than the paper. I just always notice a certain glare

Totally agree! We use muslins for the same reason 😊

I'm trying to make this decision now. I have a permanent roller system attached to my ceiling that I want to use with a greenscreen. I feel muslin might be difficult to work with because of the wrinkles as it is raised and lowered constantly, but I'm afraid the green paper would reflect the lighting too much.

That’s a tricky one. Muslin doesn’t roll well at all and would require constant re-steaming and stretching. But you’re right, paper isn’t the best for green screen keying either because of reflections. You’d have to be very careful with your lighting with paper. Assuming you have a multi-backdrop roller, what you could consider is a semi-permanent green muslin, put it in the furthest position on your roller and have paper backgrounds in-front in the other two positions, which you can roll up and down freely. Don’t know if this would suite your specific use case, but it’s a thought.

@@CreativePathFilms unfortunately that won't work for me. I have a single roller and a small office. I'm doing a ton of research to find the best solution. If I find a good solution I'll share it here so others can benefit.

@@BrianLagunas gotcha, darn! That’s been our biggest frustration with Muslins too, when you have to pack them away or swap them. If you find a good solution, please do share it. Both I and others would be keen to hear about it!

@@BrianLagunas this might be worth looking into, they claim to be non-reflective paper rolls, but I have no experience with them. These are Australian made, but you may be able to find something similar in your neck of the woods. spectrum-brand.com/products/spectrum-chroma-key-green-non-reflective-video-paper-roll-backdrop-2-7-x-10m Otherwise, and this may would negate your ceiling mounted roller, but a pull-up chroma key might be a good solution for you. www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1505102-REG/impact_rbs_cg57_rapid_background_screen_chroma.html

@@BrianLagunas looks likes the savage widetone papers (#46 Tech green) also claims to be non-reflective and has been reviewed positively for green screen work. Found that one on b&h. www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/45497-REG/Savage_46_12_107_x_12yds_Background.html/reviews
