This plays in the background after the inspector died, as he sits at the checkpoint in purgatory, allowing or denying entrance to heaven to all the characters that died throughout the game (the daughter of the vengeful father, the guards and the terrorists that die throughout the game etc.). In order to get to heaven, they now require 666 documents with no discrepancies. Great cover, by the way.
@@parasiteivo Yeah, I saw this comment coming, hahah. Papers, Please really started a whole trend of turning boring and repetitive tasks into fun gameplay mechanics. You get the Papers, Please vibe out of other games, like Not Tonight, The Westport Independent, Beholder etc. Some of them (Beholder) even pay homage to this game.
Hearing this on an organ made me realize the theme has elements of an old battle tune that was elevated to a national anthem, but it's played by a really old and bad instrument that makes the emotion washed out, and the monotonous beginning chords really solidify that feeling. It's like I can experience how a person that lives in Arstotzka really feels about the country. Amazing music story-telling.
Good morning, organist. The communist party of Arstotzka is very proud of you. You have been moved to a class 6 dwelling, and your pay has been increased. *GLORY TO ARSTOTZKA.*
You have played well, inspector. A major growth of morality was raised. You have played a good part. You will be given a break from work. You will return to work in a week. Glory to Arstotzka.
"Inspector, it's been a long civil war but we finally defeated the corrupt and the greedy. The New and Glorious Arstotzka is established and as a reward for your services to EZIC, we will promote you to become a Minister of Order and your family honored and they will no longer starving, cold and sick under the treatment from EZIC." -EZIC successfully take control of the whole Arstotzka -Your family is moved to a better apartment -You become a Minister of Order Glory to New Arstotzka Alternate Ending.
Something I need to get back into is playing the Organ. Mates, ask your pastor if you can use it. Even if you don't belong to the Church it tends that they go unused for long periods of time. Flex those pipes for em.
*Hands documents* *RAPID STAMPS* *get documentation back but with red ink everywhere* “No” says inspector Walks home knowing damn well I tried to use an random women’s passport to enter.
This is great! Sure, a little rough on the edges but still incredibly fascinating, if I ever become rich I will hire a guy to play the Papers Please theme on an organ while I'm there. I want to be in the room to feel the music
I get this on my feed a lot, and every time it pops up I watch it. The Papers, Please soundtrack sounds really good on organ. A cover of the Death Theme and/or Victory Theme would be awesome. Great job, keep up the good work.
Relistening to the original yes, there is one of the background arpeggiations that I don’t include. However, technically speaking this is my own arrangement so it’s more that I didn’t include it, rather than missing notes. It’s also arranged for the foot pedals and one hand, otherwise I wouldn’t be able to play it live.
Pretty simple piece, not too bad to memorize. Melody line, two pairs of "marching" lower notes, and then just a handful of chords which basically just march up then jump back down. Everything else is just filigree to the pretty simple basic structure.
