Very Spectacular in my Ears po talaga! 👏 👏 👏
The hymn’s lyrics itself do not follow the correct liturgical text. It lacks “Et In Terra Pax” or “Peace to People on Earth”. I agree on the priest saying the music must adjust to the Liturgical Text and not the other way around. The Roman Missal and the GIRM references the proper text for the Gloria. We were also discouraged to use this piece in a certain Archdiocese and must conform to the rules given because of the lacking lyrics. Just my thoughts

@everyone what is your take on this? Kinanta namin to sa isang Parish sa Butuan City. After mass pinagalitan kami ng isang well known priest ng parish bakit daw kinanta namin to.
Well, to quote Fr. Jojo Zerrudo: "Again, Music is at the service of the Liturgical Text. So the Liturgical Text does not adjust to the Music, the Music should adjust to the Text..."
Eng: "He who sings, prays Twice!" -St. Augustine of Hippo (one of the 37 Doctors of the Roman Catholic Church) Gloria In Excelsis Deo! Glory to God in the Highest! Amen. 🙏
Ito yung chat niya sa amin. (Please do not to sing Gloria Consolacion Its not singable and the congregation cannot follow . The GLORIA is one of the songs where the congregation should sing along . With that version , it’s impossible for the congregation to follow. Choirs are supposed to lead the congregation into singing , they are not supposed to flaunt their vocal skills.) We want to offer and serve the lord the best that we could.
No offense, but for me Misae Lux Et Origo Gloria is still the most Majestic and Solemn. 😁

Question, sa point of view ng choir, is it appropriate to impose sa congregation na THEY MUST learn how to sing songs using Latin Hymn? I know someone na sobrang in love na love sa TLM, as a choir member, he wants to incorporate yung Latin Hymns sa Sunday Masses (ex. He wants to change the Gloria into Latin Hymn but English Text). When he was told na maituturo ba yan sa mga tao or makakaya ba ng congregation to sing the Gloria and other songs in Latin Hymn pero English Text?? I don't know why he was heavily invested in incorporating TLM sa English Mass and insisting na the congregation must not make an excuse and THEY MUST learn the Latin kasi that's the original language of the church daw. It appears to me na passively, he disgust the Second Vatican Council and he wants TLM version as a choir. Please enlighten po. Thank you so much!
As far as I'm concerned, madali lang matutunan ang Missa de Angelis. Siyempre need ng konting introduction & tiyaga at first (which includes technical support ng Socom for the ppt). Pero as time passes, people will get to be familiarized with it. Hindi kasi pwedeng ulitin every Sunday yung mga kinanta na, lalo na sa Mass Ordinary (Kyrie to Agnus Dei) na dapat aligned with the mood of the liturgical seasons of the Church. While the Mass Proper (Entrance, Offertorium, Communion, & Recessional) should be in line with the liturgical season & if possible appropriate siya sa Readings of the Day.
GIRM 41 All other things being equal, Gregorian chant holds pride of place because it is proper to the Roman Liturgy. Other types of sacred music, in particular polyphony, are in no way excluded, provided that they correspond to the spirit of the liturgical action and that they foster the participation of all the faithful. Since faithful from different countries come together ever more frequently, it is fitting that they know how to sing together at least some parts of the Ordinary of the Mass in Latin, especially the Creed and the Lord’s Prayer, set to the simpler melodies
