You're the reason I got an electric guitar yesterday. One day I'm going to be good enough to cover this song, as well as shibuya directly into my vox ac10 amp dry and recorded on my iphone (in landscape mode though).

Yvette, I have to admit before I watched this I really had no idea who you were. I usually play and listen to the more extreme stuff. But my little girl has suddenly taken an interest in guitar, and she asked me the other day if girls can play too. I said of course sweetheart, lots of girls play guitar. This led me on a search for modern female guitarists, and that’s when I found your channel. Needless to say my daughter fell in love, “I want to play like her daddy!” “How come you’re not that good?”😂 Anyways just wanted to let you know that I think you’re an amazing talent, and my daughter does too. She says you’re her hero. Thank you for being an inspiration, and a great role model for young girls who want to break in to a predominantly male scene. I’m going to teach her all I can, but it’s musicians like you that foster that passion, thank you again. 🙏

As a musician who's been playing fairly intensively for the past 15 years, sometimes it's hard to hear the music within the sounds - in a similar way to if you read/say/hear a certain word enough times it can start to not sound like a real word anymore; so often I find myself learning the songs I used to listen to in wonder as a child and like learning a magician's magic trick, the mystique sometimes starts to fall away. I come to Yvette Young and Covet when I need to be reminded of the magic in music, and once again the passion for my craft is restored. On the off chance Yvette ever reads this, Thank you.

It’s fascinating how my relationship with this song has changed over the years - it’s almost served as a theme song to the second half of my complicated situationship that lasted from 2017-2022 I finally went no contact in june last year I’ve finally reached the “Some day you might realize you don’t need it anymore” part, and it’s turned this song from a wistful, vain hope for things to improve in that situationship, to more a bittersweet realization of how, even if they’ll never be the same, things are better now Funnily enough Yvette - i dyed my hair for the first time a month after that breakup, and began messing with FACGCE-style tunings (I did it in a step down at the time) - you complimented my hair & that almost stuck with me more than the compliment on my playing, in that one delay contest entry
