I used this Paracord snare trap a lot during my 87 day surviving alone in Patagonia. Unfortunately there was nothing but fish to be caught and they never caught me anything. This is hopefully the first in a new series for my channel if you liked it let me know.

Awesome video. Very easy and simple snare. I have seen other people that make it look so complicted but you made it easy to understand. Thank you for the video.

The Wooded Beardsman I guess the trapper has to pick the right size sapling, strong enough for the target species size. is that what you're referring to? Enough lift?

Loved the video style. I a bit more explaining on the knots or at least a resource of where to learn it would be awesome. I think in a survival situation food procurement is one of the biggest worries. Learning/relearning primitive traps is a great tool to keep in your toolbox. Thanks for the video

I like the video, but I think maybe you should go a little slower with some of the parts and provide a little more detailed explanation. It would have been nice to have a little more explanation of how you were doing the triggering system. For example, you might want to say the toggle stick needs to be flat on this one side and be about 3 inches long and you don't want to cut it like this but you want to cut it here etc.

Wondifferus ....Heck yea bro find and do any and every trap you can research ...and then invent some Fowler improved versions , Like the trap you just did but with a heavy log way up in the tree (instead of bent sapling) so when the trap snares it pulls it (little fluffy pink energizer bunny) up in the air to the limb the cords hung over into sharp sticks tied to the limb. POW GOES THE DYNAMITE!!!! LOL great vid bro keep em coming ....god bless you ZACK

Chase Crowe , very cool hearing that your generation still enjoys these activities that you listed ! Those things are what I did after school almost every day growing up in the beautiful woods of northern Vermont in the late 60s and 70s , and wouldn't trade those memories for the world . You won't regret it either especially when you are older and may be occupied with the increasing pressures and time constraints of life such as family , job and home responsibilities . Wish I had You Tube back then instead of having to learn much of that bushcraft lore many years later when I now have less time to get outside to practice those skills . All the best .

One flaw... Trim all the leaves and branches of your spring limb. It does two things... 1) speeds up your spring. 2) reduces the chances of wind blowing your spring limb around that can cause a false triggering.

Wow I remember my older cousin showing me how to make these traps as a kid, trapping feral chickens with them, I think I was 10 years old. we put rice/seeds around the trap and we would get them every time. I wonder where he learned this from, we were born and raised on a small tropical island called "Saipan"Northern Mariana Islands!

Yeah Zack , this would be a great subject for more vids . I enjoyed this a lot and evidently others did as well . Fascinating subject material , great editing and camera work , good music , excellent slow - motion close - up action footage and a clever scripture reference to boot ! As someone who has already learned some of the basic design principles behind these cool survival traps , I thought you showed quite well , especially with the slo- mo , how this one worked , but after reading some of the comments , I can understand why some made requests for you to explain in a bit greater detail the hows and whys of building these in any future snare making vids . All the best ! VT Rat (;-)

Trapping videos are a great idea. In a true survival situation, you would likely be malnourished and weak, making active hunting quite difficult. Knowing how to make effective snares would definitely be a useful, potentially life saving skill.

I have recently subscribed after discovering you and i enjoy each and every video you post. I live in the uk so your presentation and approach to video making is refreshing to me. Plus your bushcraft / catty skills are insanely good. Lol i have recently purchased a catty from watching your vids and plan to buy a cold steel shovel asap lol. I liked the video and would like to see more, but i prefer it when you talk us through the process, within like 50 odd seconds into the vid i was thinking hey wheres that crazy voice gone lol Im kinda new too bushcraft and felt myself thinking when the vid finished that i need to re watch it as i dont feel confident i learnt as much as i could from just a 1 time watch. So from that angle you will up your views but from a viewers perspective i was left wanting more 🤓 Either way i hope to see more vids in this series.

I definitely enjoyed the trapping/fabrication part of the video. As to your question about talking: I do like how concise you've made it by not following along in real-time. However, my preference would be for a little more explanation at some of the key points - i.e. explaining the actual trap mechanism, why you chose to place the stakes at the points you did, the actual mechanics of a 7-stick-and-toggle mechanism and so on. Perhaps a happy medium, where you explain the important bits and then fast-forward through the trimming, cutting and digging would be optimal. However, that's merely one viewer's opinion. Keep up the great work!

Great video as always...what kind of knot is that you used?

i only used a cow hitch for the snare loop with a square and the others were just clove hitches and square knots

Dk if I liked you taking the "primitive technology" approach to narration in the first part of the vid, but sometimes it is indeed better to show instead of tell. Overall it's a cool trap! Keep em coming man!

Enjoyed this style of video. I would have liked a little more detail on the trap sticks themselves but until I try it it may have had the correct amount information.

I love the idea of learning traps, do you think you could maybe show a step by step video sometime? It's a great idea to show these skills.

I was taught to always clear of any other branches and leaves so it has less wind resistance when sprung. leaving yourself just a bent pole basically. but at the same point it is slightly more obvious to the eye.

Ya if it was all about actually catching food definitely but i didn't want to wast a tree by killing it till i had some thing more to do with it.
