This is the most underrated band in the world. These guys created a unique style that other bands are unlikely to reach: something between heavy, slow, fat metal and the union of technique and melancholy!
PL is just an amazing band. They were not afraid of experimenting with other sounds. And now they are coming back to their roots again. Who knows where they will end up?
They had a vibe of Depeche Mode in those few albums. Loved it. They should have kept going down with this to me. I would love your input on the first video of my first album. It got the attention of one of my heroes Joe Bouchard (ex bass player founding members of BÖC) who is following us on Soundcloud but returns from people who likes same music is always the best. If you have just 3 minutes to listen and a bit more to comment, that would mean the world to me. Keep rockin' : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YJqmsXd8QH4.html&t
I agree, and that is honestly for me what truly makes a musician. The balls to actually experiment with different sounds and genres, not afraid to push the boundaries of what they tried before. And they never lost their original sound and feel during all that (as in, still being recognizable as the same band throughout), which just makes them one of my all time favorites.
Poor Nick looks so uncomfortable.. "C'mon man, move for the camera, gimmie some of that Popstar Vibe, just, I dunno, wave your hands a bit or something!" Nick: Aw man, do I really have to actually move?
I Heard this band for The first time three years ago searching for "Paradise Lost" by Symphony X, now I'm 15 and have Heard All this guys have ever done, just wow
You gotta love em! This song is perfection and the album as well. Though, I love almost everything they did, but One Second stands right next to my dear True believe or Requiem! On top!
You get high, with your destructive instinct You get high, with your corrosive instinct Where can I go, to escape your foul mind tricks You're trying it more, but you will never break me Cause you presume, the winner is you but that's not true, So say just words to me, unreal what your hate's providing, Say just words to me, your talk is always contradiction Say just words to me, you won't feel the warmth of friends around you Say just words to me, is it true that there is worth inside So say just words to me Your desires, all the worse from power craving Your desires, only where there's fire burning, I'll show you the way a pleasure that's for the talking, You're trying it more but you won't get satisfaction Cause you presume the winner is you but that's not true So say just words to me
What a great song, I love it! I put it into my "Shellshocked Radio - Recommendations" List: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FTYbBWdvw98.html Very well done!
This was part of their "Gothic Rock" era (One Second, Host, Believe In Nothing, Symbol Of Life, Paradise Lost). They introduced more Gothic Rock and Electronic Rock elements between 1997 to just before 2007 to show the influence of that style of music they embedded into their "Gothic Metal" approach. Although Gothic Metal is quite seperated from Gothic Rock, there is some fusion via the Alternative Metal efforts they worked on. Other than that, its nice to see a band that presents a versatility within being a band that was rooted in Death Metal and Doom Metal. They show how they have an attraction to both the "darkness" of metal music just as well as the "darkness" of post-punk styles that were loosely connected to Goth. In general they have proven to be one of the best Dark Hard Rock/Metal bands from the post-thrash scene.
"Gothic" (1991) was the essence of Gothic Metal. And maybe "As i Die" (1992). After that, they became more fluffy and Holmes tried to sound like James Hetfield..
"But you will break me" the lyrics from song sums up my ex wife and what I went through with her. Must be my favourite song by them. It used to be 'Mortals watch the day' then I heard this and it totally blew me away.
It's amazing how Paradise Lost has impacted my life and how they have been a big influence in my own music. No matter what I do, the resemblance is always there. PL forever (after).
Back then when PL were doing all this electronic Pop/Rock thing I just wanted them so bad to return to their early Death/Doom roots and now that its finally happening I just want to hear their electronic stuff again... whats wrong with me? :((
+AceofMetal It is probably because your mind has matured and wants to hear melodies that move with the chords and create a more vivid atmosphere that makes the mind wander into images & words ;) Electronic elements and other elements add much to metal and creates a grander soundscape :D
I agree despite what other morons Say. I hate the black and sad albums of PL. Draconian Times, Shades of God, One Second, Symbol of Life, Believe in Nothing and the self titled are My favs.

Respect for this misters !
This band is the true origanntor of goth and doom metal. But also so many styles. They have been an successfull band for like 38 years and still touring. I hope they come back to tour in the US or im catching plane 🤘🤘

This is my favorite PL album after Draconian Times. At the time of its release it should've gotten them huge recognition as this style was popular but as usual radio only plays what theyre paid to play and not all good music gets heard by more people. I like all of their stuff heavy or not, they just have a sound that I'll listen to.
i like to listen to this for nostalgic times. but PL is doing amazing today, obsidian is one of their best albums ever. also its not just any comeback, their death doom on that album is out of this world.
