Yeah, like my lecture notes say: I = Icom+Mh^2, where h be the perpendicular distance between the given axis and the axis through the center of mass. Just why can't the textbook authors use simple english to explain hard to understand concepts.

1:02 For those who will think WHY YOU DIDN'T PUT THE NEGATIVE SIGN? That happened to me too. Keep calm. The thing is that you are right, there is a negative sign BUT remember, that distance is square, so the negative sign doesn't matter. Sorry for any grammatical errors in this comment.

On example 2, we have eqaul 4 masses. But their distance from center of mass or axis are not equal to 5cm. They formed square yeah ? So their distance should be half the diagonal of square. Correct me if I'm wrong. Thank you 🙏

I don’t think the block rotating about it’s middle has I=0. Because it adds a mass to the system that inherently resists motion, therefore it has inertia. Also, other bodies about their centers have inertia..

How does the moment of inertia change if the distance between the masses attached to the rod change, while the axis of rotation is constant?

I’m having a disconnect between the 10kg block having zero CM inertia, because its r=0, and later the rod having 1/12*MLL CM inertia. It seems like its r=0 as well.

Why would it be in air??? Axis of rotation is an imaginary line, a mathematical tool invented to describe rotation in objects. It's an imaginary line that passes through the centre of every object. Even earth itself. Air is not technically an 'object', and the axis of rotation cannot be shifted from 1 object to another stuff.
