Wheelchair rugby was developed in Canada in the 1970’s by athletes with quadriplegia, and after being presented as a demonstration sport at the Atlanta 1996 Paralympic Games, it made its debut as a medal sport at the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games.
The sport is now practiced in more than 25 different countries and includes men and women on the same teams.
Two teams of at least four players each compete for four periods of eight minutes each.

It says something about a sport if it's originally known as 'murderball'...

Enjoying rugby at Villanova in Pennsylvania as a guest during the 1970s, indeed the video of wheelchair rugby does "make for spectacular viewing" as the Rio Paralympics is underway in 2016. Our rehabilitation centers are key "players" in the sports medicine and rehabilitation industries in the US. Wheelchair sports, as many mobility sports are called, involve sports chairs designed for the training and competition of rigorous sports activities. International class termed "elites" at the Paralympics levels, and delighted to have written a brief article on Jessica Galli and Saul Mendoza, former Paralympians who won our 15K in Utica, New York - the Boilermaker Road and Wheelchair Race at the 25th Anniversary in 2002!! Wait that's kinda sexist about the .5 extra point you can have with a girl? I play and the girl on my team is insanely good

Drew Hessler it's no secret that girls are weaker, if you're over the age of 50 you're deducted .5 as well. It's better for the team the lower the point you are anyways so what's the complaint? Especially if they're really good and strong. That's like saying it's limbist to score a quad amputee as a low pointer.

This actually helps with female representation in the sport. There are plenty of athletic women, but the best of the best are not as good as the best of the men in certain sports. If they didn’t allow this .5 point, these teams would probably not put any women on their team because their place could be taken by a stronger man.
