​@@V.E.R.O. The biggest breakthrough in regards to vision would be artificial eyes for people whose eyes either never functioned or were destroyed somehow.

Sadly, I highly doubt it, at least not in MY lifetime (I am 62) . Unfortunately this procedure will not be within reach for MANY people as far as $$$ goes due to the high cost of this surgery and or treatments and follow ups. I truly hope hope this cost will come down dramatically in the future due to the hundreds of thousands who require this breakthrough! AND IT WILL !! Blessing those who need this type of surgery.

I love this. Progress will come. Now, multiple big tech companies have prototypes. It takes engineers to build new technology that doesn't exist. $100million + and 10yrs + of trials, failures, and set backs before approval to implement even a single attempt on a human volunteer. I want it to be safe for them. But it does make me optimistic. I am thrilled to see the stimulation actually seems to vitalize a portion of the dormant spine. Awesome. Also just a side not. Some of spinal cord injury patients use FES. Functional electronic stimulation. It's like the EMS/TENS units. They put the pads on and cause the muscles to contract to try to reduce muscle degradation from disuse. Not an easy life. Please keep pushing the edges of this research. The not possible is on the brink of becoming possible.

I know this product is not neuralink and is infact much more advanced than neuralink. I do believe elon musk is many years behind in research... but elon musk is a tech giant and a big talker. Publicity. If he can get people excited about going to Mars, surely he will get the world excited about spinal cord injuries walking... and all the tech companies will start to get more funding

I am just reading this. I think it is a very good sign for him that his body was already responding on its own witchin a year. As if the sensors stimulate the surrounding nerves to build a new pathway ( bridge ) bypassing the injury. Nerves of various types do various jobs and copy themselves and multiply. It's more like a selective relay. Computer picks up signals from the brain, isolates signals for lower body, and injects them back while bypassing the damaged spinal cord regions.

I watch the commercial every so often. Brings tears to my eyes every time.
