Iain Mackenzie...Looks as if you need to start “learning” as opposed to teaching....I just hope you now know the difference, because that is what is wrong with establishment education....it is not education! It is just teaching....As you just proved!
@iainmackenzieUK
@iainmackenzieUK 4 года назад
@@1SpudderR that is very harsh Robert and unnecessarily negative. Education starts when we say "I don't know; I want to learn". To criticise others (including someone willing to ask questions, acknowledge their learning gaps and opportunities) inhibits our culture of real learning. Hence, in my view, contributiing to the dulled attitude towards education in mainstream. Your comments only exacerbate that negative attitude towards real learning. A good teacher is a good learner and models his passion for learning to his students
@1SpudderR
@1SpudderR 4 года назад
Iain Mackenzie Hmm....You said it I did not? I only commented on what was my impression of Education in relation to your physical confinement of what teaching Physics is about, after 30 years of missing out on an enormous concept. And since I have been an advocate for the majesty of magnetism since I was three or four, I was amazed at the limits a “Physics teacher put upon himself?” Happily I Observed and responded to the need of Free Thinking out and over of the rut of just teaching, and greedily Seeking broader wisdoms. Perhaps that is your next teaching the learning of “Conscious Phase Perception Of Awareness.” After all conquering Perception is the gateway to conveying Perception. Regards

Excellent, I’ve always wondered about that. Most people have never heard of anything but ferromagnetism and paramagnetism is and interesting effect to display. At work when I am unsure of whether a piece of stock metal is a lower grade of stainless steel or aluminum I’ll take the magnet off of my name tag and slide it down the metal holding it at about a 45 degree angle. If it sticks to the metal it’s low grade stainless, if it slides down the metal like it’s gliding through molasses then it’s aluminum. The magnetic field in motion going down the inclined metal stirs up magnetic eddy currents at right angles to the magnet and slows it’s decent.

In the case of oxygen molecules, all the electrons are paired. Why is liquid oxygen be paramagnetic?
@luyang7033
@luyang7033 9 лет назад
***** I know oxygen has the configuration of 1s2 2s2 2px2 2py1 2pz1. But for oxygen molecule which is O2, aren't these two unpaired electrons paired by covalent bonding (sigma bonding)?
@sidewaysfcs0718
@sidewaysfcs0718 6 лет назад
O2 has two unpaired electrons, which are coupled parallel (the ground state has spin=1) this gives a paramagnetic contribution which overcomes the diamagnetic contribution of the other electron pairs.
@sidewaysfcs0718
@sidewaysfcs0718 6 лет назад
has literally nothing to do with London dispersion forces, all non-polar gases have this force.
@debopamsil6965

O2 is paramagnetic due to the presence of unpaired electrons in the antibonding pi 2px and 2py orbitals

Xirsi Xussien Hmm...There is no proof of just (Only)the Four elementary or fundamental forces! There are trillions of wavelengths as forces, would you bet a fiver there are not more fundamentals! We should not keep taking concepts as Truths! Concepts are junctions....What type of junction is Fundamental....Perhaps as seems probable the junction contains Roundabouts with Swings.....Now how many fundamental swings and roundabouts are there? And what is Fundamental in the Holistic....Quantum particle Entanglement. Good luck on that one then.

Your Lewis diagram of water showed all paired electrons, so water is therefore diamagnetic. But the Lewis diagram for oxygen (O2) also shows all paired electrons, yet you demonstrated that oxygen is paramagnetic.
@paweenuchteerasumran4597
@paweenuchteerasumran4597 8 лет назад
+synoptic report Lewis’s theory shows that oxygen molecules are diamagnetic, but in the other hand molecular orbital theory shows different thing. The molecular orbital of oxygen molecules appear as paramagnetic and this is the reason why oxygen molecules have magnetism property.
@pengkuku
@pengkuku 8 лет назад
According to Molecular Orbital Theory, there are two unpaired electrons in the π* that they are in the same direction which increases the magnetic field effect( from the right hand rule). In oxygen molecules.
@nynapas
@nynapas 8 лет назад
+synoptic report According to the Lewis diagram or the Valence bond theory, the oxygen will be diamagnetic, but when it comes to Molecular orbital theory, it proves that both the pi anti bonding molecular orbitals of oxygen has unpaired electron, so it becomes paramagnetic.
@kwanouu
@kwanouu 8 лет назад
Although both water and oxygen lewis structure showed no unpaired electron, it doesn't mean that both of them are diamagnetic. By using the MO theory, the oxygen diatom has two unpaired electrons in the antibonding pi-star, and therefore it is a paramagnetic. Unlike water, which has all of its electrons in the bonding orbitals, having no unpaired electrons and thus a diamagnetic.
@suchayachaiworn5975
@suchayachaiworn5975 8 лет назад
+synoptic report the lewis diagram in VB theory couldn't explain the experimental result of O2. However, if you use the MO theory, there will be two unpaired electron spins in the 2p pi aniti-bonding orbital. This makes O2 paramagnetic.

@sidewaysfcs0718
@sidewaysfcs0718 6 лет назад
Plastic is also diamagnetic. Everything has a diamagnetic contribution, absolutely everything, the question here is how strong is this contribution and how much substance you have. A somewhat empirical aproximation is that the molar diamagnetic susceptibility is proportional to the molar mass of the substance. Chi(dia) = -M/2*10^-6 cm^3/mol Where Chi is the molar diamagnetic susceptibility, and M is the molar mass of the substance (or average molar mass for a mix). To actually get an idea of how strongly diamagnetic an object you're actually holding will be in relation to another one, you can divide this by the molar mass and get the mass susceptibility (which is measured in reciprocal density units of cm^3/g), and then divide it by the density (g/cm^3) to get the adimensional volume susceptibility, this quantity depends on the ammount of substace you're holding.

Oh boy, this is where I tell you Jesus is a freq Quincey. The sine wave signature for love and compassion is ever so close to that of bliss. Thus, love and compassion is a precursor for bliss. Mary Magdalene moves the line and waves the sine. Find the frequency, be the freq, share the freq. The creator is the alpha to omega, we communicate in the theta mental state, to be carried to delta is the baptism by fire John the Baptist spoke of and Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego experienced. Only happens in meditation, meditation is medication, exit the church, enter the temple within.

Why not let him explain? Is it too axiomatic?
