In Germany nearly every Paramedic and Firefighter get Haix boots issued, these Boots are fantastic!

But also almost every german paramedic has simple polo shurts without any utility, simple cargo pants without dedicated trauma shere pockets etc... But i still prefer that we have a lot of 3M reflective stuff on most of our uniform, way more visible than most of the US paramedics

Best comment I read about this topic so far: "I was always lucky enough to have a colleague with the stuff I needed on his belt, so please keep doing it!" It's a pain, that many people judge their colleagues by the amount of stuff on their belts. For me it has always been quite simple: if it's annoying in the pockets, it goes on the belt. And to be honest it's not such a big deal on the station I work at, since many of the more senior colleagues have quite a lot of equipment on their belts. From my experience it's often about having a reason to carry it in the first place. Afterwards there's hardly any difference between a few things on the belt and stuffed pockets. It's actually a bit more handy to have it on the belt since our pockets don't have quite much internal structure.

@@PrepMedic It does get in the way which is why I don't like it. Plus when I had to throw on the soft body armor I had to grab my other radio pouch that I kept in my bag. @@rianwilson8724 Our ambulance services are owned by each respective state government (imagine a "Missouri Ambulance Service" as the one and only service). We can get to do relief work in some remote areas. On day 2 I was being shown around by the guy I was taking over and we got a job. Being a city boy the first instinct was to start donning gloves. My mate says "what are you doing?" Turned out we were four hours away. Too far for choppers, locals usually contact the Flying Doctor by radio if medical help is needed. Nearly everybody outside town has an airstrip. It's about 2 hours flying time to a main hospital. Google "Bedourie Queensland" for an eye opener. Take care out there.

About that flash drive, you should grab one of the Sandisk Connect models of flash drives, which have them ranging from 64 GBs to 200GBs. They have the ability to connect to your phone or tablet via the app as it generates its own wireless signal to connect. May be useful, not really sure what conditions you would have to go through, but seems good.

Looking at what LEOs, soldiers, construction workers carry, its all a version of soldiering. Uniform, LBE, PPE. The ones making fun of a bat-belt-wearing medic are usually the ones who are just too cool to carry anything with them. On scenes, they wanna borrow stuff from the guy who isn't just too cool. I retired from a busy service where it wasn't practical to strip down to go to sleep. So I had a belt with radio and a few other things, pull-on boots (steel toe, waterproof and EH rated). I could usually beat younger guys to the rig. The thing that kills us most frequently at work is vehicular crashes. We should be using seat belts in the back, and wearing a helmet. We need multi-purpose PPE. Like a helmet that provides reasonable crash and ballistic protection, but doesn't look like a combat helmet. FR rated uniforms with high visibility features. Ballistic vests that look more like a traffic vest. If we pack heat at work, and I do, it should be concealed. As far as EDC, every medic should have a light source, cutting tool, comms, one set of PPE (gloves, mask) and a quick reference source be it cards behind your ID badge, a pocket guide, etc. And a goddamn pen and something to write on! I work at a slower, kinder and gentler semi-rural service now, across a bay from an island city with a large level one teaching hospital. Some of my crews are just too cool to carry stuff with them. When they want something of mine, I tell them to walk their happy and/or unhappy ass back to their rig and get it.

I know theirs videos on this subject already, and you even have some on your channel, however I thought it wouldn’t hurt to hear some more pros, cons, outlook on the job, opportunities in the field, etc. If it helps at all I live in nys. I’ve been back and forth on what I’m looking to do for the future. The basis I have is that I’m looking for something that is fulfilling (not so much in terms of pay), I can use the skills I learn outside the work environment, & I have the consistent ability to progress & test my ability’s daily. When I say fulfilling I mean the ability to feel as though I have actually made a difference in the world around me.

I love your videos Sam but i'm extremely disappointed that you, as a paramedic, chose to plug O-light as a brand when they are horrifically unsafe lights and even killed one of their customers. See: Caleb Joyner.

I don't know if this guy doesn't know what EDC means or if he actually walks around with all this when he's off duty?

Bro the title literally says paramedic everyday carry, as in he carries that while he's on duty as a paramedic every single day. He wouldn't wear his uniform off duty...

Very similar to what I used to carry as an EMT. I couldn't give drugs so i never carried a carpuject. I had a vest i actually got for free from a family friend, his police department changed the vests every 5 years and they still had 5 years left on the date which carried me through until i became a nurse and left EMS. I used to wear it when i worked in the city, as well as my transport job when my truck would go to Reading, PA, Philadelphia or other high risk areas. Even though i didn't do 911 in transport , the areas were often high drug and it made me feel comfortable in the rare case someone tried to rob our bls unit thinking we had sedatives or opiates

Question from an Australian paramedic, how can you be an EMT and not give drugs? It makes no sense.

@@specialforcesgaming3230 Oh OK. Thanks for the clarification. Where I am we don't have EMT level, only advanced care paramedic level and upwards. There are communities that have EMT level but to be that EMT level you have to be indigenous and live and work in an indigenous community. Elsewhere ambulances are crewed by paramedics.

@@specialforcesgaming3230 Yes I've read about Americans have BLS ambulances. The BLS staff we have is a somewhat contentious issue. Imagine if they said only Native Americans can be EMT level and can only work in Indian Reservations?

Hey man, just wanted to thank you for your instructional content; some of it was super helpful when I was studying up for NREMT earlier this year! If you don't mind me geeking out for a sec on boots... Dunno if you've ever heard about this, but I think there was a study done some years ago by the US Army on boots and socks. If I remember right, it found that the best footwear layout was (from inside to outside): a thin, wicking sock (ex high% polyester sock); then a slightly thicker merino wool sock (I love DarnTough socks); and lastly the boot. The inner sock just kinda glides around within the outer sock, preventing blisters/hotspots/chafing. Plus, it dumps all your sweat into the wool, which can keep you warm even when wet. The whole setup ventilates well enough to use year-round too. It's how I've always worn my boots, and it's never let me down yet. Boy Scout -> EMT -> CSAR hopeful/trainee
