For anyone curious: he made a full recovery in time. It is thought he was hit by a deer or something of that size when we was struck unconscious. Lost his voice for a while but he eventually worked it back to full strength!
I was hoping he did. Thank YOU for the info. Blessings to him and his family. Grateful to all those who helped. In especially, the people who found him. He could've laid somewhere more isolated and died alone. #safety of #helmets
I wish these clips would combine footage from the hospital or at least tell us what happened to him at the end! I'd love to know if he's okay!! His poor wife
for those curious i googled the guy. he suffered six broken ribs, a punctured lung, fractured collarbone and skull which caused paralysis of his vocal chords. he was placed in an induced coma for a fortnight and spent a further seven weeks in hospital and had a tracheotomy for several weeks and could not speak or eat.
jesusssssss. that guy is very lucky. I saw my friend riding her bike without a helmet and got annoyed (she was other times) but like it just ticks me off. Also these girls in my school got inns high speed crash and lone got ejected from obviously not wearing a seat belt. She jokes about, and got into another small crash about a year later, and omfg I just want to yell at her lol. I know it could be from trauma her laughing but the fact that her friends were encouring/doing with it annoyed me so damn much, like you won't be laughing when you're dead. Sorry just annoyed obvi lol
BANT3R yeah I know although I don't were a helmet but I'm more careful of my surroundings and I have my dad by the side of me it's not nice to see a lot of blood on the floor but next time we're a hard helmet
hauha I can't afford a helmet at the minute my dad has got no work because he is ill but I don't need one if I'm only going 10seconds. Away and I'm always on the phone to my dad anyway to see how he is but I wear a helmet if I'm going out with my friends tho I can understand that but yeah ✨✨✨✨😱😂😂😂😂😂💯painful
hauha yeah but what will happen if I apply to a gob I'm sixteen I'm happy to look after my dad It's is contagious to his life and my life is I ever lose my dad I will go fucking mad I love him to the moon and back
@@FunAviTM I’ve been riding a bike for over 14 years and I still always wear a helmet. It don’t matter how skilled you are , if a car goes into you your fucked
These crews are incredible. I live in America and I’m not sure if we have response teams like this who operate right then and there. I imagine we have to but in my 34 years of life I’ve never seen anything like this before.
Of the couple times I've been to the emergency room (if I'm in the ER it means I basically think I'm dying), they make me fill out forms, sit there for an hour in the waiting room and then before they even touch me I have to sign forms and fill out paper work about not having insurance. Literally to hell with our medical system.
@@luigiwastaken damn must suck in the US, in the UK if you go to the ER you don't have to fill forms except state your name, injury and your address to prove you live in the UK then you wait for a bit before triage however you have priority list so if you have bad injury you get seen quickly then if it's not as major you get lower down in the list but it's not a lot of wait time
“Just because I haven’t seen it, it must not exist. Bring on the socialist medicine! Yay for 60% tax rates!” Every video you people show up with this drivel.
EMT student here- most of the people here are paramedics who are certified to intubate/administer IV/treat hemopneumothorax (collapsed lung from blood and air). Paramedics in the US have the same capabilities, but often act as ALS (advanced life support) only when EMTs radio ahead for them because resources are often scarce. Most of the people you see in American EMS are EMT-Bs who aren't certified to do such invasive procedures, but there are definitely professionals in America who perform procedures like those you saw in the video right in the field.
He is okay. He lost his voice for a few weeks but it's back and he is fully healed up now. Although he cant be as loud as he was before. He now wears a helmet when he drives his bicycle and he is grateful for the people that saved him. They really do have great communication and cooperation between the two services. No confusion on who is incharge or who does what. I am truly impressed and wish it were like this in the US. Our guy's are great, don't get me wrong it's just that these guys/gals are so impressive!
The schooling is really intense. You need to recognize and know how to treat a myriad of issues, so it makes sense that the training is extremely hard. I've never gone through anything as hard as paramedic school, but I don't regret a second of it (even the nights spent crying over a textbook haha).
I've been cycling for 22 years. never worn a helmet... I've had 4 major crashes in those 22 years. Broken ankle crashing at 20mph Road rash on my entire left side crashing at 40mph Went over the handle bars when a car pulled out in front of me. No injuries. (other than pride) The drive just left the scene without checking if I was okay. Hit a woman who stepped out in front of me while cycling 25mph. She was taken to hospital with a minor concussion after slamming her head into the pavement and I dislocated my left knee cap. (Never felt so bad in my life, but it was her fault. I'd like to find her to contact too see how she is and apologise. Despite it being her fault for stepping on to the road without looking.) All in all I've been exceedingly lucky cycling 22 years without a helmet. But all it takes is one moment of no luck for your life to change forever or just... end. (Just bought a helmet on Amazon.)
@dumb videos of me being high Och to be honest. it did... But I really didn't care all that much. My though was, people die everyday and if I'm going to be one of them. so be it. But now actually have stuff to live for.
oh bless him omg I am sure you will get better soon after you go to the hospital and the nurse will have to wait until the next morning and you can ride your bike 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love seeing emerancy services working together , the police and paramedics , even tho the policeman saw paramedics at the scene who are more qualified than him , he stayed and helped I just love the emergency services
I agree, this cop did a commendable job in helping the paramedics save this man's life and also in keeping the guy calm in a very traumatic situation. He definitely deserves a raise alongside the medical team. The officer was proactive and was willing to help the medics as much as possible instead of just standing there and directing traffic or standing still and keeping his hands in his pockets like a lot of cops do.
Poor man, i really hope he survived from these horrible injuries. Bless him, i don't think anyone would imagine getting those injuries from cycling. Heres way you should Always wear a helmet.
@@The_New_Abnormal_World_Order we pay hardly anything compared to what Americans pay. The term free healthcare refers to having no surprise payments every time you get ill.
@@randyvines1497 I know what you mean, it's much better than the American system, but it's just not correct to say it's 'free,' because it is absolutely not free. If we don't pay our taxes we go to prison. The reason why a lot of people in the USA oppose to a healthcare system like ours is because of taxation. I'm not saying I agree with them, but forced taxation is technically theft. Food for thought- how come drug companies get away with charging such extortionate prices for lifesaving drugs? That's criminal right there.
@@The_New_Abnormal_World_Order America spends more per head on healthcare than any other country so I don’t know how the opposers to healthcare worked that one out. Their system makes healthcare for rich better but healthcare for the low high class, middle class and poor much much worse. But I see what you mean, although the term free being that most people take more than they put in, so in that sense it is free. I also agree that drug companies that charge extortionate prices are borderline criminal. And even more so pretending to be good by lowering the price of insulin during the pandemic when they could have done it all along!
My entire childhood was spent riding my bicycle to school and back in traffic with no helmet. I took up cycling again in 2013 and had a big crash in 2016 which resulted in various injuries, one of which was a severe concussion. Riding witha helmet is something I would not advise against. It's nearly 6 years since the crash and I still have post concussion syndrome issues. Brain injuries should never be underestimated.
new EMT from the USA here. watching this video gave me great motivation to be the best emt i can be. i have a job interview at a local hospital based EMS service on tuesday and i really hope i get the job. i have a great passion for helping people whether it’s something minor or something major and life-threatening. these medics/doctors did an amazing job doing what they do. i really hope i can make a difference on someone’s life when i get in the field of EMS. main goal is to be a firefighter/paramedic but i wanna immerse myself in the EMS world first so i can get my feet wet and get the opportunity to make an impact on peoples lives. this gives me an unbelievable amount of motivation and inspiration and i’m beyond excited and confident to get myself into this field. God bless the first responders that put their lives on the line and/or voluntarily go out to save someone’s life. those are the people i look up to the most. thank you to the first responders and god bless 🖤
update- just had my interview friday 1/21.. i’ll know by next week if i got the job. i’m hoping & praying i get the job. i just wanna be able to help people and do some incredible things. i’m beyond ready for the challenges that lie beyond. i just genuinely wanna make an impact on peoples lives. whether it’s running into a burning building or intubating someone… i wanna be apart of it. this is my calling and i want to be apart of it every step of the way. God bless our firefighters, EMTs/Paramedics, police officers, & our military.
I have to admit I've never worn one - and i don't recall them telling us we has to wear one when we did our cycling proficiency test. But yes now they are widely available i would probably wear one today.
Sarah you not going anywhere else but me and you much more than anything else you want to go back and forth with you and the other side is that what you're doing good thanks for your loss and your
Damn he went out for a bike ride and it ended with air doctors paralyzing him, poking holes in his lungs, and being air lifted to a hospital. I bet he'll wear a helmet ⛑️ after this one.
Props to those who tried to help him before the paramedics got there, but i couldnt help wincing when I saw they had sat him up. shouldn't he have been in recovery position?
I would’ve lost my father 2012 if he hadn’t worn his helmet. He fell head first into a concrete swale going down hill. Unfortunately he broke his back in several place and one of the complication of the emergency surgery was possible paralysis. Unfortunately we got the bad end of the stick and my father has been a paraplegic since then. I’m 23 now and can say I’m very grateful he is alive but would be lying if I said it didn’t traumatize me. I still suffer PTSD from that day and it made school/life very difficult to keep going. I can say I get better everyday but I’ll never fully recover. We still have his helmet that saved his life . It is broken in 2 which is what they’re designed to do when met with a strong enough impact.
Seeing how calm these people are is a big difference from here in America. I guarantee you in almost every accident over here you hear this loud shriek from some woman and constant crying
Deadly here in Chesterfield Derbyshire, I wear a helmet and I ride on the path "if nobody's on it" if drivers think you're slowing them down they skim you on purpose, I don't want murdering from behind by some fruitcake millenial on the phone or some oap smashing into me because they can't see shit.
Whenever people use "milenial" in this context it just makes me laugh. You do realise that Milenials are in their 30's and even 40's right now, don't you? Milenials are not kids
I maybe missed it, but did they put on a collar and pelvic binder?? I know some Ambulance services don't advocate the use of Cervical collars. There is a lot of debate on how effective they are. Great video.
For those of you who are worried about Joel, here is more information on his accident - and recovery. www.harrogate-news.co.uk/2018/07/30/cyclist-who-lost-voice-in-freak-accident-in-pateley-bridge-singing-the-praises-of-the-air-ambulance-service/
I wonder if a bear came out of those woods and charged him? He broke 6 ribs! Something large hit him, as he was only slowly bicycling up hill near his home.
the blade interval and the camera's frame interval almost sync up which gives the effect that it is spinning slowly. if it were to match up perfectly, the rotors would appear to not be spinning.
God I hate the way my brain works. Blood everywhere, shove a needle in his lungs, cut a hole in his chest and ram your finger in there repetedly ... yeah, no reaction at all. His wife shows up and says "Oh Joel!"? Instantly start to cry.
Once in a small forest in Norway where families and kids have fun. I was biking like 20km/h and I saw a deer 🦌, then I tried to avoid the deer. My bike was going for a tree in kinda high speed, then I jumped off and my bike and the bike hit the deer and I fell in a ditch. Like 10 minute later and got back up and went to the nearest health station to check myself and they said if I didn’t have my helmet on, I’ve would have bad injuries. That was my scariest day on my bike. And do you think I do? I still love to bike. Kids, wear helmet!
In our country if you have an accident somewhere in a place like this.. No chopper will help you.. You will wait an hour to rescue or you will be left rotten... Hahhaha
I crashed going down a hill at 40km/h hitting a curb and scraping my head a good metre or so according to witness. I was wearing a helmet so all I got was a light concussion and missing skin on my face, elbows and knees.
Man I can't help but think if he had a helmet he probably would have a broken rib or something and be discharged out the hospital in hours or a day. Not spending 30 seconds to put on a helmet made it 100000x worse of an injury
Hello everybody! Please remove me a doubt. What is and what is the use of that tube or rod that sticks out above the emergency medical bag? On 1.47 mins Thanks!!
