Hi; Good Tutorial; Please Note to modify the hing point to be on the Exterior face of the Curtain wall; That's How it should be; Otherwise it would not open in the reality; "GOOD LUCK".

Perfect Video! Thanks! I build it in Revit for a Roof (almost similar to a curtain wall). But I got the problem, that it opens only to the inside of the roof; downwards. Do you have a hint how to turn it inside out?

Good day, have you or do you know how to create and elliptical pitch roof. Revit will allow you to create a round roof but will not allow you to add a slop angel to an elliptical curve when using the roof tool. can you help me?

This was a really tough project. I got all the way to the end only to have a busted window :-( I mean, it looks just like yours but it won't open or close. Postscript: I got it to work! I had to re-configure most of the parameters but my window now adjusts in the model.

This is a great tutorial... But it still boggles my mind that you have to go to this length for a simple opening panel. I'm from archicad and this type of thing would be included in libraries.

Hi Good Tutorial, but In my case when I was giving parameter for Panel height which is ( height - 100 ) is not applying coming error " A Reporting parameter can be used in a formula only if its dimension references are all to host elements in the family" I tried twice & followed the same method as you. but this error was coming . Do u have any Idea why ??

@@CharlesDickens99 When measuring "height" you need to when selecting the bottom part, so that you choose the reference plane instead of the reference level. Solved it in my case :)

When i make the reference line for the opening panel, it is not centered, it is at the endpoint of width dimension. This prevents me from creating an equal distant glass panel at the end. This is now my third roadblock with this tutorial and 1.5 hours working to create this single window panel. Really hating revit rightnow.

@@bengramos9305 Thanks. I'll try that. To get the job done I just did the frame family at the size I needed & then modeled in place the louvres. Got me out of a whole but asap I'll make a parametric family for the future which is my preference. Thanks again.

You are selecting the line of the level grid at the moment of creating the dimension height, you need to hit tab to place the dimension on the reference plane below it

Under Family types parameters, all my dimensions are greyed out. This happens when Balkan architect goes into Family types at 8.09 And when dimensions are greyed out you cannot enter any input to alter them. You can alter dimensions by dragging reference planes in Revit which only partially works; dimensions which are linked by formulas update but the rotation point does not move. Is anyone else having problems like this?

You have to click on it and use "edit work plane" command. There should be a center option. Good luck!

firstly thanks for your videos and tutorials. But I have a problem. I am using the 2019 version of Revit and in this version, when you want to make a parameter ( for example > Height of the frame ) a warning message appears which doesn't let to do that. Text says that >>> A reporting parameter can be used in a formula only if its dimension reference s are all to host elements in the family. as a result it was impossible for me to control the length of opening in my project. could you please introduce a loophole for me ?

Probably tou placed a dimension on the reference level (black one) instead of the reference plane (green one)

hi there jeff. I had the same problem. When you are making the height dimension you need to hit tab one time so it chooses the reference plane over the reference level. Then it allows you to enter the formula. Hope this works for you.
